Japan, US Navy team up for joint show of force toward North Korea

Japan has teamed up with the US Navy — joining them in military drills near the Korean peninsula — as a dramatic show of force against North Korea, a report says.
The Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force is expected to dispatch “several destroyers” to the region while tensions continue to intensify between President Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, according to Reuters.
Sources with direct knowledge of the plans told the outlet that Japan’s navy will ultimately be allowed to conduct helicopter landings on US ships, as well as communication drills.
