Iran rejects latest cease-fire proposal as Trump considers ‘massive attack’: report

Iran reportedly rejected a new cease-fire deal Thursday that was presented by Iraq’s prime minister on behalf of President Trump.

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi – fresh off a White House visit and Oval Office meeting with Trump – brought the proposed deal with him to Tehran and presented it to top Iranian officials, who refused to entertain the proposal, according to the New York Times.

The terms of the rejected truce are unclear, but Iranian officials described it as the “only offer on the table” and a “temporary deal” that did not resolve the question of who would control the Strait of Hormuz, the outlet reported.

The US completed the 13th night of precision strikes further degrading Iranian military capabilities on July 23, 2026. CENTCOM

CARLISLE, Pennsylvania—Jamie Dimon sat on the stage with President Donald Trump, Sen. David McCormick (R-Pa.), Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll, and investors. The CEO of JPMorgan Chase looked out at an auditorium filled with more than 1,500 people attending the inaugural Defense and Innovation Summit.

“God knows this is how you guys have ignited the American dream, and you’ve ignited security and resiliency,” Dimon said to Trump. Dimon’s unvarnished assessment is that of a man who understands that national strength is found in places like Pennsylvania, where laborers, investors, and innovators are at the heart of creating jobs and keeping the country safe.

WASHINGTON—Thousands of people gathered in front of the Lincoln Memorial on July 23 to commemorate the lives lost under communist persecution and call for an end to abuses still happening to fellow Falun Gong practitioners.

With the azure sky as the backdrop, they joined human rights advocates and a congressman for a rally, holding up banners at a site that has witnessed monumental changes in U.S. history.

Many of them have either experienced persecution in China for practicing Falun Gong or know someone who has. Some have lost families and friends to the ongoing campaign that has reached U.S. shores.

On this day, they commemorated the 27th anniversary of the broadening suppression by the Chinese regime and called for change.

The SAVE America Act took up a significant portion of Thursday morning's White House press briefing. As RedState reported, President Trump held a rally in Georgia on Wednesday and talked about how the Senate's obstruction of this Act was becoming an issue. As the president stated with frustration, "The Senate is the place where you send things when you want them to die."

One reporter asked White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt whether President Donald Trump was losing patience with Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and his clear resistance to bringing the SAVE America Act to the floor. Leavitt referenced Trump's Tuesday night remarks.

Leavitt said:

"The president spoke about this directly, yesterday. His patience is running out. He wants to see as much of the SAVE America Act passed as possible by the August recess. He knows that this is what the American people want to see passed. He was just traveling on the road yesterday. Spoke about this, and there was very loud applause from the people in the audience, the everyday Americans, because Voter ID is common sense. They want proof of citizenship in our elections, and the president feels very strongly about that. And I would just add, the people elected overwhelmingly Republicans to lead. Not just this White House, but also the House and the Senate. The House did its job, the Senate needs to do its job too."

President Trump said he is weighing a “massive attack” on Iran — as the Pentagon floods the Middle East with elite troops, fighter jets and combat medics, vowing to avenge the deaths of four US troops in less than a week.

“I am considering a massive attack. Bigger than anything we have ever had before. I am close to making a decision. We are fully prepared for it,” the president told Israel’s Channel 12 on Thursday.

He added that the Jewish state would join the US in the operation “in two minutes” if he asked, but clarified that “we don’t need anybody” to launch the potential escalation.

Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., warned Thursday that the Democratic Socialists of America has become an "existential threat" to the United States, arguing the far-left movement is seeking to undermine the country and has gained increasing influence within the Democratic Party.

Appearing on Newsmax's "Wake Up America Early," Fine said Americans should take the group's agenda seriously because, in his view, its members are motivated by hostility toward the nation rather than a desire to improve it. 

"These are people who do not love America, but they hate America," Fine said. "They don't seek to make us even better than we've ever been; they seek to destroy us. And when you understand the truth, it makes a whole lot more sense."

He argued the rise of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., reflects decades of failed immigration policies that allowed people into the country who do not share American values.

The European Union on Thursday fined Google $1 billion, concluding the tech giant violated the bloc’s antitrust rules by favoring its own services in search results and imposing unlawful restrictions through its Android app store.

The penalties were issued under the European Union’s three-year-old Digital Markets Act, or DMA, which is designed to prevent the largest technology platforms from using their dominant positions to lock in users and disadvantage competitors.

The larger penalty, totaling more than $500 million, stems from Google’s practice of giving its own shopping, hotel, transportation, and sports services preferential placement in search results over rival offerings.

Jim Jordan urges criminal charges against Jack Smith over alleged perjury

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) on Wednesday issued a criminal referral of former special counsel Jack Smith to the Department of Justice over allegations he lied to Congress about tracking personal phone messages of dozens of lawmakers.

Republicans have long raised concerns about Smith’s time at President Joe Biden’s DOJ. Smith obtained subpoenas that allowed him to access communications records of mostly Republican lawmakers as part of the DOJ’s and FBI’s “Arctic Frost” investigation. Last week, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) released data he said indicated Smith’s team reviewed text messages from 44 senators and representatives from both parties, though mostly Republican.

During testimony before the House Judiciary Committee last December, Smith denied that he had examined the contents of lawmakers’ text messages. Jordan said in a letter this week to acting Attorney General Todd Blanche that he is submitting the criminal referral due to what he described as new evidence that Smith committed perjury. A DOJ official confirmed to the Washington Examiner that the department “will investigate all evidence of criminal conduct” in the referral.

Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, are now one step closer to facing the music on the U.S. drug-trafficking charges, the charges that resulted in them being yanked out of Venezuela in the dead of night by American armed forces. In the latest development, they now have a date for their trial to begin: June 1st, 2027.

Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein set the June 1 trial date at the request of lawyers on both sides. Under the approved schedule, defense lawyers will begin filing requests in early September to challenge the indictment and the couple will return to the courtroom Nov. 17 for oral arguments on the motions.

Maduro, 63, and his wife, Cilia Flores, 69, have been held at a Brooklyn jail since U.S. forces seized them from their Caracas home in a middle-of-the-night raid and brought them to New York in early January. 

Neither spoke during Wednesday’s 15-minute hearing as each sat separately at a defense table, surrounded by their lawyers. Both have pleaded not guilty. They face potential life prison sentences if a jury agrees that they were part of a conspiracy to send cocaine into the U.S.

The challenges to the indictment, it appears, will be extensive.

MARIETTA, Ga.—President Donald Trump cautioned against communist ideologies and promoted investment accounts for children on Wednesday while speaking to a standing-room-only crowd filled with supporters at Wheeler High School near Atlanta.

He said that recent elections in New York suggest a rising tide of communism across the Democratic Party, urging Republicans to vote this November.

“We have some great candidates running,” Trump said. “They’ve got to win by a lot, otherwise we’re going communist.”

Communism leads to “absolute squalor, turmoil, and death,” he told the crowd.

“It goes back thousands of years by different names, but that’s the way it happens all the time. It’s squalor. It’s poverty. It’s death. It’s destruction,” Trump said. “And that’s why we declare again today that the United States of America will never be a communist country.”

* President Trump recently sought to include Lebanon in the normalization agreement with Israel.
* Friedman criticized the Biden administration for adding conditions that hinder progress on the accords.

President Trump’s envoy to Israel during his first administration dismissed accusations from Democrats on Wednesday that the war with Iran has strained the Abraham Accords — the U.S.-brokered normalization agreements between Israel and several of its Arab neighbors.

Former Ambassador David Friedman, who served from March 2017 to January 2021, told the House Foreign Affairs Committee that he doesn’t believe any of the signatories view Washington’s conflict with Tehran as a “strategic blunder” and a reason to back away from the accords.

“I hope that when the war ends successfully and victoriously for the United States — as we all hope, pray, and believe that it will — the moderates will be back in the lead and the Abraham Accords will have a bright future,” Mr. Friedman said.

House passes $1.14 trillion defense policy bill amid Iran war

The House passed a $1.14 trillion defense policy bill Wednesday as the United States continues to engage in hostilities with Iran.

The National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal 2027 passed on the House floor 216-212, with 205 Democrats and seven Republicans opposed to the measure. Usually a bipartisan measure, the defense bill lost Democratic support over the price tag and the Iran war. Six Democrats crossed over to support the bill: Reps. Henry Cuellar (TX), Jared Golden (ME), Vicente Gonzalez (TX), Adam Gray (CA), Don Davis (NC), and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA).

Republicans opposing the measure included Reps. Anna Paulina Luna (FL), Tim Burchett (TN), Thomas Massie (KY), Chip Roy (TX), and Eli Crane (AZ).

Massive artificial intelligence data-center projects could stall as Big Tech’s opaque financing commitments collide with falling technology shares, Wall Street analysts warn.

Second-quarter reports from Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon and Meta — along with Oracle’s latest disclosures — may begin revealing cracks in an AI buildout whose full financial burden is difficult for investors to measure, says Mitch Feierstein, CEO of Glacier Environmental Fund Ltd. and author of “Planet Ponzi.”

Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta and Oracle carried $1.65 trillion in off-balance-sheet commitments tied largely to data-center leases, graphics processing unit supply contracts, and servers, according to a Nikkei analysis of recent financial statements.

That exceeded the roughly $1.35 trillion in debt Nikkei counted on their balance sheets.

Rubio Signals No Letup in US Strikes on Iran

The United States will "continue to protect shipping" in the Strait of Hormuz for as long as Iran tries to exercise control over the international waterway, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters during the Association of Southeast Asian Nations foreign ministers' meeting in the Philippines, Rubio said the Trump administration remains open to diplomacy but will not tolerate Iranian attacks on commercial shipping through one of the world's most critical energy corridors.

"We remain open to working it out in a negotiated way," Rubio said. "But right now, they don't seem to be serious about that. And so, we're going to continue to protect shipping."

Rubio added that the United States will continue degrading Iran's ability to threaten international commerce.

"At the same time, we are going to — when the opportunity presents itself — degrade their ability to target global shipping," he said.

WASHINGTON—The U.S. government intends to push back against the Chinese communist regime’s transnational repression on U.S. soil and defend vulnerable groups such as Falun Gong practitioners, the State Department told The Epoch Times.

“We are committed to safeguarding our sovereignty, keeping our communities safe, and defending individuals from the overreach of foreign governments and regimes trying to silence, intimidate, harass, harm, or coerce individuals within our borders,” a State Department spokesperson said on July 21.

“CCP [Chinese Communist Party] repression extends far beyond China’s borders, as Chinese officials or their proxies threaten, harass, and intimidate critics of the CCP overseas, including in the United States.”

Falun Gong, a meditation discipline based on the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance, quickly spread by word of mouth to reach an estimated 70 million to 100 million practitioners during the 1990s.

On July 20, Falun Gong practitioners marked 27 years of persecution by the CCP.

“The CCP promoted the Falun Gong movement in the 1990s, but since then has waged a campaign to eradicate the spiritual practice for political reasons, targeting practitioners and their families in China and around the world,” the State Department official said.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has certainly been on a tear.

We reported earlier how his team had tracked down an Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)-linked crypto wallet and frozen $140 million. Bessent also found the money man for the Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, and had other fun prepared for the Ayatollah.

But he wasn't just seizing Iran's money; he was cleaning up a lot of the mess left by the Biden administration.

Bessent explained their effort to make sure that money was going out to the proper people, and how they've, through their new process. That stopped the payouts to dead people of about $100 million. "It's common sense," he told Fox's Maria Bartiromo.

Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent is at it again, tracking down Iranian regime's cash and grabbing or freezing it with Operation Economic Fury, the financial side of the actions against the regime.

Bessent explained how they've been tracking accounts all over the world, and now they've frozen a crypto wallet containing about $130 million linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The White House Correspondents’ Association will give an award to the Secret Service officer who helped put a stop to the gunman who attempted to rush its annual dinner in April.

Victor Gonzales, the Secret Service officer who stopped alleged gunman Cole Allen from barging into the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner at the Washington Hilton hotel, will receive the “President’s Award for Exceptional Service to the WHCA” at the rescheduled dinner on Friday, July 24. Staff at the Washington Hilton will also receive the award.

“The WHCA is deeply grateful that law enforcement officials prevented the armed suspect from entering the ballroom,” Weijia Jiang, president of the WHCA and CBS News correspondent, said in a statement. “Officer Gonzales played a significant role when he ran toward danger so that thousands of others could make it home safely. His courage stemmed from a dedication to service, which we are looking forward to honoring this week.”

The White House is having an “I told you so” moment after New Jersey‘s Democratic governor announced she was removing 6,600 noncitizens from her state’s voter roll following 400 of them casting ballots in past federal elections.

“Democrats and their media allies have repeatedly said it is impossible for noncitizens to register to vote, let alone cast a ballot,” White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told the Washington Examiner. “Time and again, they have been proven wrong. As President [Donald] Trump has said, there is nothing more important than the integrity of our elections. And this latest incident underscores the absolute necessity of the SAVE America Act.”

Jackson added that American voters “deserve to have confidence that our elections are safe and secure” and that Trump “will never stop fighting to make that happen and all patriotic Americans should join in his effort.”

The naivete of a sophomore isolationist vice president in JD Vance has at the least proven that the United States has no chance to reach a satisfactory agreement of peace with Iran. Is seeking Iran’s de facto surrender our only successful strategy? It appears so.

After five weeks of amazingly successful bombing, the following 13 weeks — of troubled negotiation of a highly aspirational “agreement to agree” — should have seared on our collective cerebrum that a deal, even a bad one, with the allegedly representative Iranian regime is, at bottom, impossible.

If the $6 billion conned from our credulous negotiators is taken as a lesson, it will be well worth it to the security of the Western world, as we seek a more realistic approach to a jihadi regime.

A State Department report says American leftists are serving Cuba‘s goals for “urban guerilla warfare and terrorism” through a regime-linked activist group.

The Venceremos Brigade spent decades building relations with elected Democrats, labor leaders, and activists by giving supporters propagandistic field trips to Cuba and weapons training, the State Department said Monday in a 100-page report on the communist state’s influence. The report traces financial and political ties between the Venceremos Brigade and the Black Lives Matter cause, Democratic Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, and others, describing how the group “brought some 10,000 American activists to Cuba” since Cuban officials helped form it in 1969. 

“Since its creation, the Brigade has served as a tool for the Cuban regime to sponsor a wide range of subversive activities against the United States — ranging from influence campaigns to espionage and guerilla violence,” the State Department said. “It has been linked to the formation of some of the most infamous far-left terrorist movements in U.S. history.”

What to know
* Congress will hold a ceremony in the U.S. Capitol for the late Sen. Lindsey Graham.
* The ceremony is next Tuesday and will be closed to the public.
* It will be livestreamed for public viewing. 

Congress will hold a special ceremony in the U.S. Capitol rotunda next Tuesday to honor the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, kicking off a series of funeral services, including one in Washington featuring remarks from President Trump.

Additional memorial services will be held in Mr. Graham’s home state of South Carolina next Wednesday.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune announced the addition of the Capitol ceremony as a tribute from Mr. Graham’s many friends in Congress.

“From the military to state politics to decades of representing South Carolinians in Congress, Lindsey dedicated his life to giving back through public service. As we say our final goodbyes, it seems fitting for his friends and colleagues to give back to him through this special Capitol honor,” the South Dakota Republican said.

The Capitol ceremony on Tuesday will begin the series of funeral services. It will be closed to the public but available to view on livestream.

Mr. Graham’s remains will be carried into the Capitol by an armed forces body bearer team, a tribute to his decades of service in the Air Force. The ceremony will feature a memorial guard of Capitol Police officers.

The Capitol ceremony will be followed by a 2 p.m. invitation-only funeral service at Washington National Cathedral, which will also be livestreamed for the public.

Mr. Trump will pay tribute to his friend with remarks. Other speakers to eulogize Mr. Graham will be announced later.

OPINION:

What is radical leftism?

“It is a poisonous resentment cloaked in the language of equality and justice and liberation, an overwhelming need to tear down what greater men have built, to wreck what is beautiful and what is right on behalf of people who are only filled with ugliness and have nothing else to offer the world,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained last week at a conference of 60 countries convened to address rising left-wing violence.

Left-wing violence is the George Floyd rioters who burned down American cities in the summer of 2020. It is the armed ambushes on our immigration enforcement officials. It is transgender school shooters. It is the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson and conservative influencer Charlie Kirk.

It is the numerous assassination attempts on President Trump’s life. It is pro-Hamas insurgents taking over college campuses.

“In spite of the clear and the undeniable reality, in spite of the objective numbers and statistics, in spite of the fact that in this room today there are representatives from across the political spectrum, we will hear this organized — that this kind of organized violence and terror will be dismissed,” Mr. Rubio said.

To a large degree in our society, radical left-wing ideology has been normalized — so much so that the Democratic Socialists of America are openly taking root in the Democratic Party.

DSA advocates for chaos and destruction, wanting to abolish the police, eliminate the Senate and Supreme Court, terminate border enforcement, stop cash bail and, in some cases, eliminate prisons altogether.

America remains deeply divided over whether the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Donald Trump. Millions believe the system failed them, while the media, intelligence bureaucracy, and the left have treated their doubts as something to suppress rather than investigate.

The documents released this week by the Trump administration do not close the case. They reopen it—and make the “nothing to see here” narrative indefensible.

Start with Communist China.

The released intelligence reports that approximately 220 million American voter records are in Chinese hands. Tens of millions of records across 18 states were bought, stolen, or hacked and included names, addresses, phone numbers, party preferences, and other sensitive information.

Spain can now boast of its Men’s National Team being crowned the 2026 World Cup champions after beating Lionel Messi and the defending champions, Argentina, 1–0 in a final match outside New York City on July 19.

The final brings to a close the largest and most inclusive World Cup in the tournament’s nearly 100-year-long history. Beginning on July 11, 48 teams from six continents met in Canada, Mexico, and the United States to play more than 100 matches.

This year broke attendance, goal count, and viewing records, delivering a lot of action, friendly fun, and controversy.

Rubio names the left-wing terrorism threat

Terrorism, President Ronald Reagan once said, is the preferred weapon of weak and evil men. Its use by the far-left has been growing, and it is a clear and present danger to the United States and its values. To its credit, the State Department is finally doing something about it.

On July 16, Secretary of State Marco Rubio convened officials from more than 60 countries to address the threat. The conference came during what Rubio called an “unprecedented moment in our history,” as the nation confronts a “rising tide of violent left-wing extremism.”

Far-left terrorism accounts for more attacks and plots than any other ideological category, according to State Department calculations. In 2025, far-left terrorists were responsible for 63% of recorded anti-government attacks or plots, and three out of every four deaths resulting from such attacks.

The problem is not confined to the United States.

“This is an international conference because we are facing an international, a transnational, threat,” Rubio warned, “These are not distinct and isolated cells; they are interconnected networks.”

In 2021, 21 terrorist attacks in the European Union were attributed to far-left and anarchist terrorists, according to Europol. Of the 45 terrorist attacks reported on the continent in 2025, 12 were attributed to the far-left.
