Rep. Meuser to Newsmax: Trump's Coal Plan Key to Meeting Energy Demand

Rep. Dan Meuser, R-Pa., on Newsmax Thursday praised President Donald Trump's plan to use Cold War-era national defense authorities to direct nearly $700 million toward supporting U.S. coal facilities, arguing the move will help meet growing energy demands and strengthen domestic manufacturing.
Speaking on "Bianca Across the Nation," Meuser said Trump's leadership is needed as electricity demand rises across the country and as Pennsylvania continues to play a major role in coal production.
"The president's leadership is crucial here," Meuser said. "Our grid demands are increasing rapidly."
The Trump administration on Thursday announced plans to use national defense powers to provide financial support for coal-related operations, part of a broader effort to bolster domestic energy production and maintain reliability of the nation's power grid.

Israel will continue its operations on the ground in southern Lebanon despite agreeing to a ceasefire, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on June 4.
Israel and Lebanon announced on June 3 that they had agreed to implement a ceasefire.
Katz said that Lebanese residents who had been forced to leave their homes in the area by the Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF’s) ongoing mission would not be allowed to return.
His comments came a day after Lebanon and Israel agreed to implement a ceasefire during talks in Washington, with the deal contingent on a cessation of fire from the Hezbollah terrorist group.

Israel will continue its operations on the ground in southern Lebanon despite agreeing to a ceasefire, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on June 4.
Israel and Lebanon announced on June 3 that they had agreed to implement a ceasefire.

The day I went to the White House to interview President Trump, Democrats launched another fake rumor campaign about his health.
First, bots fanned out on social media with lies that the president hadn’t been seen for “eight days” and had suffered a “stroke.”
Then Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.), the designated hit man on the House Foreign Relations Committee, spent almost six minutes of valuable hearing time on Wednesday “grilling” Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the president’s “health and cognitive abilities.”
It really is chutzpah for the Biden Democrats to accuse the hardest-working, most energetic president of his generation of ill health in the very week that Jill Biden told everyone she thought Joe was having a “stroke” in his catastrophic debate against Trump last year.
But I’m sorry to inform the ghouls that I spent an hour with the president Tuesday for an interview on Pod Force One, and he is more alert and focused than I have ever seen him.
He was full of bonhomie when he burst into the Roosevelt Room a few minutes early with a guest in tow — Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, with whom he had just had a meeting in the Oval Office, since it was nine days before the start of the biggest World Cup soccer tournaments in history.

UNRWA’s very existence “implies falsely that Palestinian Arabs are in a unique position and should be found a home in what is now Israeli sovereign territory.” Cotton and Cruz “cited UNRWA’s links to the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attack in Israel,” where 12 UNWRA employees joined in the slaughter of 1,200 innocents. Speaking to Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) during a Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing on Wednesday, Rubio offered a lengthy assessment of the Russian invasion. He noted specifically that “one thing that has changed” the nature of the conflict is Ukraine becoming “increasingly effective at conducting long-range strikes deep into Russia” and hitting “critical nodes of the Russian economy.”

Netanyahu: Trump Disputes Are 'Tactical Disagreements'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview with CNBC that he and President Donald Trump occasionally have "tactical disagreements" but remain aligned on major issues and maintain a close working relationship.
"Sometimes we have, as in the best of families, you have these tactical disagreements," Netanyahu said.
But he rejected suggestions of a deeper split between the two leaders.
"We always find a way to work them out, and we do so as great friends," Netanyahu said.
The prime minister said he and Trump continue to agree on key objectives, including preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
"We can disagree in the morning" and find common ground by the afternoon, he said.
Netanyahu also described Trump as the "greatest friend to Israel," pointing to the strong relationship between the two countries during Trump's first administration.
He added that the two leaders remain in frequent contact.
"I speak with him once every two days," Netanyahu said. "We have common goals … we want to achieve them."
Asked about reports that Trump called him "[expletive] crazy" during a recent phone call, Netanyahu declined to address the claim directly.
"I'm not going to get into details," he said.
Trump confirmed in an interview released Wednesday that he criticized Netanyahu during a Monday phone conversation, saying he was "a little bit perturbed" that Israel's military actions against Hezbollah in Lebanon were complicating efforts to advance negotiations with Iran.
At the same time, Trump emphasized that his relationship with Netanyahu remains strong.
"We've worked very well together. I like Bibi a lot. And I work very well with him," Trump said.
Trump added that the two leaders share common ground as wartime leaders and indicated there is no timetable for resolving tensions involving Iran.
Netanyahu acknowledged that questions remain about how the current conflict will ultimately conclude.

Netanyahu: Trump Disputes Are 'Tactical Disagreements'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview with CNBC that he and President Donald Trump occasionally have "tactical disagreements" but remain aligned on major issues and maintain a close working relationship.
"Sometimes we have, as in the best of families, you have these tactical disagreements," Netanyahu said.
But he rejected suggestions of a deeper split between the two leaders.
"We always find a way to work them out, and we do so as great friends," Netanyahu said.
The prime minister said he and Trump continue to agree on key objectives, including preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
"We can disagree in the morning" and find common ground by the afternoon, he said.
Netanyahu also described Trump as the "greatest friend to Israel," pointing to the strong relationship between the two countries during Trump's first administration.
He added that the two leaders remain in frequent contact.
"I speak with him once every two days," Netanyahu said. "We have common goals … we want to achieve them."
Asked about reports that Trump called him "[expletive] crazy" during a recent phone call, Netanyahu declined to address the claim directly.
"I'm not going to get into details," he said.

After Decima Davis started taking kratom, a tropical plant often billed as a healthy pick-me-up, she could not stop.
Whenever she tried to pry herself loose from kratom’s grip, her torment only intensified.
“Every morning, I’d wake up drenched in sweat, already in agony, knowing relief was just two minutes away at the local gas station [that sold kratom],” Davis, 51, of Mississippi, told The Epoch Times.

The Chinese Communist Party on Thursday will mark the 37th anniversary of its use of military force in the massacre of thousands of unarmed pro-democracy protesters in Beijing.
Commemorating the event is a new report by the Air Force China Aerospace Studies Institute that reveals the Chinese Communist Party’s new disinformation narrative seeks to “flip the script” on what happened during the military attack on civilians on June 4, 1989.
No longer seeking to erase all memory of the killings, the new propaganda effort attempts portray the political mass murders as heroic work by People’s Liberation Army troops.
“Instead of suppressing memory through censorship, [the CCP] has now undertaken an effort to reimagine the events altogether,” the report said.
Beginning in 2022, the CCP started promoting propaganda images that seek to show PLA troops as “the real heroes of Tiananmen,” the report said.
“The protesters are not only labeled ’counter-revolutionaries,’ but now they are also ’terrorists.’ It was the PLA soldiers who ’sacrificed’ to save the country from these enemies of the nation,” the report said.
The new propaganda campaign reflects greater confidence by the CCP that decades of censorship and disinformation about the events in 1989 produced a blank slate in public consciousness that can now be filled with the new narrative.
The new CCP narrative calls for never forgetting what the report said is a false version of events. The report includes a copy of a propaganda poster showing a saluting PLA soldier atop a tank under the phrase, “We salute the sacrifices of the People’s Liberation Soldiers during the counter-revolutionary rebellion of 1989.”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio was testifying before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Wednesday. You know that was likely to spark a storm of "performance theater" by the Democrats, peppering Rubio with questions that were outside the subject of the hearing.
But Rubio has shown that he's truly adept at dealing with these characters.
My colleague Bob Hoge reported earlier on Wednesday on how he sliced and diced Rep. Ted Lieu (CA-36), who was trying to push a bizarre conspiracy about President Donald Trump, claiming that Trump "keeps going to hospitals" (he doesn't) and that no one has seen him in eight days (we see him all the time). They're such ridiculous hypocrites when they covered up Joe Biden's cognitive deficiencies.

The newly elected Solomon Islands Prime Minister Matthew Wale wants to “reset” relations with Australia, which were strained under his predecessors amid concerns of Beijing ties.
Wale faced questions about the 2022 security deal inked between former Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) that would allow Beijing to station troops, weapons, and naval ships in the country.
The issues raised consternation from defence experts given the Solomons are located just 2,000 kilometres (1,240 miles) north-east of Australia.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Wale said he had not seen details of the deal until just visiting Australia.

An Iranian regime intelligence official has warned that Iran would attempt to block shipping traffic in another waterway if the Israeli military continues to launch strikes against Hezbollah or in Gaza.
Esmail Qaani, the head of the Iranian Quds Force, an intelligence agency under the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), claimed that Iran would attempt to close the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which would echo Iran’s move to effectively block traffic in the Strait of Hormuz since hostilities started.
The Bab al‑Mandab Strait is between Yemen and the Horn of Africa. It connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and is considered a critical shipping waterway. The Houthi terrorist group, based in Yemen, launched attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and in the Bab al-Mandab Strait starting in 2023, prompting a U.S. military response.

The Trump administration has revoked the visa of a Chinese national working for Beijing’s state-run news agency Xinhua in the United States.
The State Department told The Epoch Times in a statement on June 1 that the administration “has the strongest commitment to the freedom of expression.”
“We will continue to insist on a relationship with China based on fairness and reciprocity, putting the American people first. We cannot accept the continued lack of reciprocity for U.S. media in China, nor any attempts by the Chinese authorities to silence U.S. media.”

The Trump administration has revoked the visa of a Chinese national working for Beijing’s state-run news agency Xinhua in the United States.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio didn’t mince words when responding to Iran’s decision to cut off peace negotiations.
Rubio testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday morning on the State Department’s budget request amid the ongoing conflict with Iran.
During his testimony, he noted that part of the agreement Washington is pursuing with Iran is that the regime would reopen the Strait of Hormuz. “They did not, at which point the president decided, and I think appropriately, we can’t have a world in which Iran — only Iranian ships get through the Strait,” Rubio said. “And so, if they’re gonna shut down the Strait for everybody, we’re gonna shut down the Strait for them, and we have done that through a very effective blockade.”
He noted that the financial cost for the regime “is in the hundreds of millions of dollars that they are losing in lost revenue that they’re not generating as a result of that.”
The secretary further explained that “talks with Iran are not like talks with Switzerland” and that the regime has “agreed to negotiate aspects of their nuclear program that, just a month ago, just a year ago, they were refusing to even mention, much less enter discussions about.”
But one of the main challenges is the fact that Iran’s “internal regime is somewhat fractured in the sense of it takes days to get responses from their system,” Rubio said.

CAPE TOWN, South Africa — A proposed U.S.-backed investment in a South African rare earth minerals project is emerging as an unlikely bright spot in relations strained by disputes over Israel, refugee policy and South Africa’s growing ties to China.
Two giant sand dunes near an abandoned chemical facility in South Africa have given Africa’s largest economy an opening for a reset with President Trump, who last year accused the South African government of standing by idly as a “White genocide” occurs in the country.
Mr. Trump followed up by disinviting South Africa from the Group of 20 summit that the U.S. will host in December.
Still, South Africa’s extensive reserves of platinum group metals and other essential minerals are becoming increasingly important to the U.S.

For members of President Donald Trump‘s administration, one government title has become less and less likely. As vacancies emerge and agencies undergo restructuring, Trump has turned to trusted Cabinet officials and senior aides to lead various agencies at the same time.
The latest addition to the multiple-hat-wearing crew was Bill Pulte on Tuesday, when Trump named him to serve as acting director of national intelligence following the June 30 expiration of Tulsi Gabbard’s term, in addition to his current role as the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency.

“President Trump has the most talented Cabinet in American history, all of whom are working around the clock to implement the President’s agenda on behalf of the American people,” White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers told the Washington Examiner. “The Trump Administration’s mission to put America First and Make America Great Again will never change.”
Here are all the Cabinet members who have more than one title.
1. Marco Rubio
While secretary of state remains Marco Rubio’s primary role, he has accumulated a growing list of additional responsibilities since becoming the first Cabinet nominee confirmed during Trump’s second term. Rubio received unanimous Senate approval in a 99-0 vote.
On Feb. 3, Trump named Rubio acting administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development as the administration moved to dismantle the agency and transfer many of its remaining functions to the State Department. Later that month, Trump appointed Rubio as acting archivist of the National Archives and Records Administration after firing the previous archivist.
Rubio also serves as interim national security adviser, making him the first official since Henry Kissinger during the Nixon administration to simultaneously hold both the secretary of state and national security adviser positions.
Trump has repeatedly praised Rubio’s performance. Last month, the president even suggested Rubio and Vice President JD Vance would make a strong Republican ticket in the 2028 presidential election.
In addition to his dual-hatted role as chief diplomat and national security adviser, Rubio dominated news cycles in recent weeks for standing in as White House press secretary and his viral wedding DJ appearance.
Rubio has struck a humorous tone when speaking about balancing his wide-ranging responsibilities. Last year on Labor Day, he joked that it was the “most meaningful Labor Day of my life as someone with four jobs.”

At a briefing in Bogota two days before the voting began, Newsmax asked an expert on election law whether Colombia permitted early voting or absentee ballots as the U.S. does.
"We don't have early voting or remote [absentee] voting," the expert replied without hesitation, adding that "Mexico tried something like that and it's not the best [way to conduct voting]."
Beginning under the Clinton administration in 1993, the U.S. has extended voting to include early voting as well as absentee voting without the traditional reasons such as illness or anticipated out-of-town travel.
In Colombia, however, every eligible voter must show up at polling places in which citizens have been trained to sit at the estimated 122,000 "voting tables" nationwide and place the folded paper ballots in cardboard boxes.
The lone exception to voting in person is Colombian expatriates living in other countries, who cast votes at embassies and consulates. The results are promptly submitted to the national counting authorities in Bogota.
Identification is required, and all voters carry a national ID card with which to prove their identity and thus cast a vote. At the close of the voting period on Sunday — 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. — the votes are tabulated and counted twice before the outcome is announced and sent to a national voting center for an official count.
Any required recount is done manually and in front of witnesses selected by the presidential candidates.
In Sunday's election, voter turnout reached 23.7 million, or about 57.41% of the electorate, higher than in the 2022 election, which drew 54.9%.
In surprising results, conservative hopeful and first-time candidate Abelardo de la Espriella placed first with 43.7%, roughly a 655,000-vote lead out of 10.3 million votes cast, and leftist Sen. Ivan Cepeda followed with about 40.9%.
Thus, the two will meet in a runoff June 21.
"There was no large-scale electoral fraud, as [lame-duck left-wing President Gustavo] Petro had been anticipating before the election," concluded a study by the nonpartisan Colombia Risk Analysis firm. "The results were announced on time, accepted by the winners, and acknowledged by the losers, and the isolated anomalies recorded were insufficient to alter the overall result or cast doubt on the validity of the vote."
But the report also concluded that Petro "is likely to continue pushing the fraud narrative ahead of the runoff."
However, international observers from the International Republican Institute (IRI), the European Union (EU), and the Organization of American States (OAS) are expected to conclude that the Colombian elections were fair and honest and that their system works.
"Amazing," House Foreign Affairs Committee member Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., told Newsmax. "The Colombian election went well because voting was conducted the way it used to be here."

At a time when Senate Democrats have stalled the SAVE America Act (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act) to ensure more honest and accurate voting throughout the U.S., Colombia has for years employed and enforced strict rules for voting that clearly work.
In effect, the Colombians — who began the first step toward choosing a new president in an internationally watched election Sunday — have long had their own version of the SAVE Act. At a briefing in Bogota two days before the voting began, Newsmax asked an expert on election law whether Colombia permitted early voting or absentee ballots as the U.S. does.

NRSC Joins Paxton Fundraising Effort

The National Republican Senatorial Committee is backing Ken Paxton, teaming up with the Texas attorney general and GOP Senate nominee on fundraising efforts after backing Sen. John Cornyn in the primary.
Paxton, who defeated Cornyn in a runoff last week, filed paperwork to set up the committee with the NRSC on Monday, Politico reported. The NRSC will work with Paxton on digital fundraising and direct mail, a source told Politico.
Though the NRSC supported Cornyn, the committee will give Paxton "the same treatment we give all of our candidates and incumbents," the source told Politico.
Following Paxton's victory, the NRSC deleted any anti-Paxton material from its social media, including reminders of his various scandals and posts that said Cornyn was the "only one Republican that can beat" a Democrat in Texas, Politico reported.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., will meet with Paxton this week, Paxton said in an interview Sunday.
"Ken Paxton is our nominee heading into November, and we got to pivot and go all in to make sure that we keep Texas red, that he wins, and that we keep a far-left liberal out of the United States Senate," Thune said on Hugh Hewitt's show last week after the runoff.
NRSC Chair Tim Scott, R-S.C., has also thrown his support behind Paxton.
"There's been no better warrior for our party than John Cornyn. I was blessed to have served with him and I look forward to his continued fight for our great country," Scott said on X.
"But now I stand united with President Trump, Ken Paxton, and Texans who want to protect our Republican Majority," Scott added.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reportedly moved to resign after concluding that his administration no longer has meaningful influence over key decisions in the Islamic Republic.
According to Iran International, which cited a source familiar with the matter, Pezeshkian submitted a resignation letter Sunday to the office of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.
The development comes amid an apparent power struggle between Iran's civilian government and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the military force that has long wielded significant political influence inside the country.
The source told Iran International that Pezeshkian's letter argues "the president and the government have effectively been excluded from major and vital decision-making processes in the country, and that the vacuum created by this situation has enabled hardline factions within the IRGC to take control of affairs."
Pezeshkian also reportedly stated that "under such circumstances he is unable to run the government and carry out his legal responsibilities, and for that reason has requested to step down immediately."
No decision on the resignation has been announced publicly. It remains uncertain whether Khamenei will approve the request.
If confirmed, the move would mark a dramatic escalation in tensions within Iran's ruling system, highlighting growing divisions between elected officials and the country's security establishment.

Seoul has discussed a possible bilateral military logistics support pact with Tokyo, South Korea’s defense minister has said, although Seoul maintains reservations.
South Korean Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back told reporters at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore on May 31 that he had held discussions with Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi the day before regarding a potential acquisition and cross-servicing agreement, according to the Yonhap News Agency.
Ahn declined to give further details.
An acquisition and cross-servicing agreement would allow neighboring U.S. allies Japan and South Korea to share and mutually procure military logistics such as ammunition, fuel, and food.

U.S.President Donald Trump on Monday said that negotiations between Washington and Tehran are continuing “at a rapid pace” and that Israel and Hezbollah will stop attacking each other following a flare-up of fighting over the past weekend.
“Talks are continuing, at a rapid pace, with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
The president also wrote in another social media post that he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and that no Israeli troops will be sent to Beirut following recent Israeli strikes on the Lebanese capital city.
Additionally, Trump said he spoke with representatives of Hezbollah, a terrorist organization based in Lebanon, who said they “agreed that all shooting will stop” and that “Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel.”

A Utah judge ruled on Monday that the “public and the media enjoy a presumptive right to access court proceedings” regarding the suspected assassin of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk, Tyler Robinson, and therefore, he will not conduct key parts of an upcoming hearing in the dark.
The 23-year-old Robinson has been charged with seven counts, including aggravated murder, for allegedly shooting Kirk in September 2025 at a TPUSA event. His defense has repeatedly tried to hide pre-trial hearings and evidence from the public.

A Utah judge ruled on Monday that the “public and the media enjoy a presumptive right to access court proceedings” regarding the suspected assassin of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk, Tyler Robinson, and therefore, he will not conduct key parts of an upcoming hearing in the dark.
The 23-year-old Robinson has been charged with seven counts, including aggravated murder, for allegedly shooting Kirk in September 2025 at a TPUSA event. His defense has repeatedly tried to hide pre-trial hearings and evidence from the public.

Well, this is disconcerting. On Saturday, law enforcement on both sides of the border discovered and investigated what appears to be a smuggling tunnel, leading from the Mexican border city of Tijuana, possibly into the United States. The extent of the tunnel is still being investigated.
That's a serious job of work, that went into this, and not the back-slapping "well done" sort. This may well be a serious smuggling effort, an attempt to bring into the United States everything from drugs to possibly trafficked people. The evidence seized would appear to indicate just that:

Well, this is disconcerting. On Saturday, law enforcement on both sides of the border discovered and investigated what appears to be a smuggling tunnel, leading from the Mexican border city of Tijuana, possibly into the United States. The extent of the tunnel is still being investigated.
Cops on both sides of the US-Mexico border are investigating a sprawling underground passage uncovered in the Tijuana area that is believed to extend toward the US.
The tunnel was found Saturday in the Nueva Tijuana neighborhood during a raid carried out by Mexican federal authorities, with support from the Mexican Navy, according to Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office.
Investigators said the hidden passage stretches roughly 869 feet and sits about 21 feet below ground, making it one of the more substantial cross-border tunnel discoveries in recent years.
The tunnel was found Saturday in the Nueva Tijuana neighborhood during a raid carried out by Mexican federal authorities, with support from the Mexican Navy, according to Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office.

The outcome last night of round one of Colombia's presidential election was nothing short of stunning to most of Latin America and Washington, D.C., not to mention many Colombians themselves.
In near-final returns, Abelardo de la Espriella — a millionaire trial lawyer, hard-core conservative and first-time candidate — led the first-round vote with 43.7%, followed by leftist Sen. Ivan Cepeda with 40.9% and center-right Sen. Paloma Valencia with 6.9%.
The granddaughter of beloved former president Guillermo Leon Valencia, Valencia promptly endorsed de la Espriella once final returns were in and thus made the fiery hopeful known as "The Tiger" the betting favorite over Cepeda in the runoff June 21.
The results reported Sunday night remained unofficial pending a final count, a process expected to take several days because all ballots must be cast in person by voters presenting a national ID card. Both Cepeda and outgoing leftist President Gustavo Petro said Sunday they would withhold judgment until the official count is completed.
For now, all signs are that Colombia is poised to become the seventh Latin American country in three years to shift politically from left to right.

As the 37th anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre approaches, the Chinese regime has stepped up security measures against dissidents and activists across the country, according to interviews with individuals who say they have been placed under surveillance, confined to their homes, or warned against speaking publicly about the anniversary.
In the massacre, which occurred on June 4, 1989, Chinese troops violently suppressed a student-led pro-democracy movement, resulting in thousands of deaths and injuries. Today, the regime remains deeply sensitive to any public remembrance of the tragedy.
The restrictions, reported across China, reflect a long-established pattern in which the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) intensifies political security operations each year ahead of June 4.
