Joe Biden seems to just keep getting worse and worse.
He came back from Delaware on Monday, not arriving until almost 2 p.m., to make remarks for Jewish American Heritage Month.
Let's start with the good part. He really didn't go to any length about his personal connection to the Jewish community as he usually does to any audience he's speaking to. Usually, you would hear about all the time he spent at the temple. This time it was only this brief reference where he talked about his career and the Jewish people being involved in every civil rights "fright."

Judge in Trump Case Says She’s Concerned With Special Counsel Jack Smith
Special counsel is using inconsistent arguments with regards to which information should be hidden from the public, judge says.

The federal judge overseeing one of the criminal cases against former President Donald Trump on May 19 expressed concern and disappointment with special counsel Jack Smith.
U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, an appointee of President Trump, said that Mr. Smith and his team have taken inconsistent positions during the case as it pertains to keeping some information sealed, or hidden from the public.
“In two separate filings related to sealing, the special counsel stated, without qualification, that he had no objection to full unsealing of previously sealed docket entries related to allegations of prosecutorial misconduct. In light of that repeated representation, and in the absence of any defense objection, the court unsealed those materials consistent with the general presumption in favor of public access,” Judge Cannon of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida wrote in an order.
The materials that were unsealed, though, contain information such as grand jury details that the special counsel has and continues to say, in all other filings, should be kept sealed. Judge Cannon asked for an explanation of the inconsistency.
“In response to those inquiries, counsel explained that the special counsel took the position on unsealing in order to publicly and transparently refute defense allegations of prosecutorial misconduct raised in pretrial motions,” Judge Cannon wrote. “Fair enough. But nowhere in that explanation is there any basis to conclude that the special counsel could not have defended the integrity of his Office while simultaneously preserving the witness-safety and Rule 6(e) concerns he has repeatedly told the court, and maintains to this day, are of serious consequence, and which the court has endeavored with diligence to accommodate in its multiple orders on sealing/redaction.”
Judge Cannon described herself as being “disappointed in these developments.”

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign doubled down on his Friday comments in Texas, where he said he will be calling on President Joe Biden to take a drug test before their first debate. He also said that Biden was “high as a kite” during his most recent State of the Union address.
“I’m going to demand a drug test here, by the way,” Trump said. “I don’t want him coming in like the State of the Union,” Trump continued. “He was high as a kite. I said, ‘Is that Joe up there, that beautiful room?”
The Daily Caller contacted Trump’s campaign about his comments to see how serious he was and if he would be formally calling for Biden to take a drug test. They responded Monday by asking what Biden is hiding and saying he should submit to drug testing. “Based on what the American people have seen from Joe Biden, including his debate announcement video that took 5 cuts for 13 seconds, drug testing prior to debates is a fair ask for President Trump to make. What does ‘Crooked Joe’ have to hide? If he wants to prove he is naturally physically and mentally capable of leading our country, he should submit to drug testing. Regardless, these debates will serve as an opportunity for President Trump to go head-to-head with the worst, weakest and most incompetent president in history,” Trump’s national press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, told the Caller. A CNN panel on Monday said that Michael Cohen’s acknowledgement of stealing funds from the Trump Organization must establish “reasonable doubt” for the jury in former President Donald Trump’s trial.
Cohen admitted during Monday testimony that he stole from the Trump Organization when under cross examination by defense attorney Todd Blanche, according to multiple reports. A CNN panel, including attorneys, said the admission could significantly damage Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case and lead to the jury reaching a not guilty verdict for the former president. SEOUL, South Korea — Lai Ching-te, inaugurated as Taiwan’s president on Monday, urged China to respect the island’s democratic choices and reminded the world of his country’s significance.
Mr. Lai’s election victory in January handed the liberal Democratic Progressive Party an unprecedented third consecutive presidency. He succeeds Tsai Ing-wen, who served two terms.
Of Taiwan’s three major political machines, the liberal DPP maintains the strongest stance against Beijing, which insists the island belongs to China.
Mr. Lai, 64, a former physician also known as William Lai, will have his hands full.
Under DPP rule, Taiwan’s 23 million people have faced a multifaceted campaign of Chinese intimidation. Reinforcing local resilience will be a core task.
Another challenge will be keeping regional and global democracies on Taiwan’s side. Many are tightly interlinked with the economic giant China.
So far, so familiar, but Mr. Lai faces one issue Ms. Tsai did not: opposition control of the Legislative Yuan.

OPINION:
The new law that extended warrantless surveillance in some instances also contains language meant to ensure that the FBI never again targets a politician the way the bureau sabotaged candidate and President Donald Trump.
The law places restrictions on how the FBI can persuade judges to give it wiretap authority under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act — the law top bureau leaders abused to harass Mr. Trump and his aides.
From 2016 to 2018, the FBI went hog wild over a dossier financed by the Hillary Clinton campaign and written by its paid former British spy, Christopher Steele. His 35 pages of Kremlin gossip came primarily from Russian national and U.S. resident Igor Danchenko, who himself was suspected by the FBI in 2010 of being a Kremlin intelligence source.
The dossier, filled with fantastic claims of Trump-Russian election collusion, was not true. The FBI spent four years trying to confirm it, even offering Mr. Steele $1 million, but never did.
Lack of proof, however, did not stop the FBI. It submitted the dossier claims via four sworn affidavits to Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court judges to win warrants to wiretap for one-year campaign volunteer Carter Page. The affidavits repeated the dossier claim of a Trump-Russia conspiracy, which didn’t exist.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, a hard-line protégé of the country's supreme leader who helped oversee the mass executions of thousands in 1988 and later led the country as it enriched uranium near weapons-grade levels and launched a major drone-and-missile attack on Israel, has died. He was 63.
Raisi's sudden death, along with Iran's foreign minister and other officials in the helicopter crash Sunday in northwestern Iran, came as Iran struggles with internal dissent and its relations with the wider world.
A cleric first, Raisi once kissed the Quran, the Islamic holy book, before the United Nations and spoke more like a preacher than a statesman when addressing the world.
Raisi, who earlier lost a presidential election to the relatively moderate incumbent Hassan Rouhani in 2017, ended up coming to power four years later in a vote carefully managed by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to clear any major opposition candidate.

Joe Biden has said some unbelievable things over the past three-plus years while he's been occupying the Oval Office.
On Sunday night, he went to speak at the NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner in Detroit, Michigan. The only crowd outside seemed to be protesters there over the Israeli war in Gaza, so once again, he didn't seem to have very many supporters outside.
First, during his remarks, he did his typical pandering and lying about being involved in civil rights when he was 15 despite there being no evidence he ever was an activist.

So much of the focus on former President Donald Trump's legal matters has been on the Manhattan case of late — for fairly obvious reasons: The trial is ongoing, and possibly due to wrap before Friday. But while the other three criminal cases against Trump currently sit in limbo (for a variety of reasons), the parties are still filing pleadings and arguing motions before Judge Aileen Cannon in the Southern District of Florida.
Cannon is overseeing the classified documents case, which was filed following the infamous raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in August of 2022. Special Counsel Jack Smith leads the prosecution in that one (as he does in the case pending before Judge Tanya Chutkan in the D.C. Circuit over purported election interference). The parties have been wrangling over the necessary redactions in pleadings filed, with that issue being particularly thorny given that the case involves classified documents.
As RedState reported earlier in May, Judge Cannon has indefinitely postponed the trial in the case due to the Department of Justice's mishandling of evidence. Around the same time that mishandling came to light, it was revealed that Smith's top prosecutor, Jay Bratt, met with White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain back in September 2021, almost a year before any classified documents were discovered at Mar-a-Lago. That revelation came about compliments of a newly unsealed motion.

Now, Cannon has issued an order further clarifying certain pleadings to be filed and redactions she's granting (and denying) in them as to both parties. A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his foreign minister crashed on Sunday as it was crossing mountain terrain in heavy fog, an Iranian official told Reuters, and rescuers were struggling to reach the site of the incident.
The official said the lives of Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian were "at risk following the helicopter crash," which happened on the way back from a visit to the border with Azerbaijan in Iran's northwest.
"We are still hopeful but information coming from the crash site is very concerning," the official told Reuters, speaking on condition of anonymity.
State TV quoted an official as saying at least one passenger and one crew member had been in contact with rescuers. It also said the helicopter had been found, though Iran's Red Crescent denied this report.

Some of President Joe Biden’s 2020 voters named inflation, foreign policy and illegal immigration as their main reasons for considering backing former President Donald Trump, instead, in November, The New York Times reported on Friday.
The NYT/Siena College survey released on Monday across Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania found that 14% of those who said they backed Biden in 2020 won’t do so this cycle. The outlet spoke with some of the Biden defectors included in the poll, with some planning to vote for Trump despite qualms with his personality.
Frederick Westbrook, a retired hotel worker in Las Vegas, told the NYT that voting for Biden last cycle was “the biggest mistake of my life.” The retiree added that while he still believes Trump has “a big mouth” and is “not a nice person,” his financial situation has made him consider backing the former president.
“Everything is just about the economy,” Westbrook said. “I don’t really trust Donald Trump at all. I just think housing, food, my car, my insurance, every single piece of living has gone up.” (RELATED: Catholic Voters Are Ditching Biden For Trump: POLL)
Amelia Earwood, a 47-year-old safety trainer at the U.S. Postal Service, was also critical of Trump, but said she’s “voting on his policies, and I think that he could straighten this country out, while Biden made a ginormous mess out of it.”
The Georgian cited inflation, illegal immigration and Biden’s recently delaying sending arms to Israel as reasons for her dissatisfaction.
Virginia Faris of Wisconsin told the outlet she believes “Biden’s policies of overspending and printing money” are attributable for her children’s financial struggles. The 54-year-old plans to vote for Trump.

700 Tunnels in Rafah

During a hearing on Friday at The Hague, Israel reportedly announced it has discovered "nearly 700 tunnel shafts" underneath the city of Rafah in southern Gaza and about 50 of them "cross into Egypt."
Israeli Justice Ministry official Gilad Noam appeared at the International Court of Justice this week for hearings on a request from South Africa to issue new cease-fire orders to stop the military operation in Rafah.
During a hearing on Friday, Noam said the accusations made by South Africa, which include the claim that Israel has violated the Genocide Convention, are "completely divorced from facts and circumstances."
He added that the case "makes a mockery of the heinous charge of genocide. Israel is engaged in a war it did not want and did not start. It is under attack and is fighting to defend itself and its citizens."

Jonathan Turley Eviscerates Biden Invoking Executive Privilege Over Hur Audio

As we've reported, Joe Biden is now claiming executive privilege over the audio tape of his interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur over the classified documents he had.
What makes this claim unusual, as George Washington Law School professor Jonathan Turley pointed out, was that the transcript of the interview has already been released:
It appears that Joe Biden is “he who must not be heard.”
The invocation of privilege over the audiotape is so transparently political and cynical that it would make Richard Nixon blush.
What makes it worse is that Biden had classified documents all over the place, including documents from his time in the Senate, something he never should have had in his possession:
The comparison to the Trump case in Florida is both obvious and disturbing. Where Trump was charged with a litany of charges, including mishandling and retention of documents (in addition to obstruction), Hur decided not to charge Biden at all. His reason was outright alarming: The president is an elderly man with failing memory.
Then on top of that, as Turley notes, Biden told multiple falsehoods about the situation including Biden saying Hur hadn't found there was "willful retention" of the documents, even though Hur said there was, that he hadn't shown classified material to a third party, even though Hur has found he had; and that Hur brought up his son Beau when he said Biden couldn't get the year of his death right, when in fact it was Biden who brought up Beau. Biden flipped out at a press conference saying, “How in the hell dare he [Hur] raise that?” Yet it was Biden who raised it:

Trump Scores Huge Donation From Unexpected Group

Amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war dividing the already-estranged country, former President Donald Trump scored a major donation from an unlikely group.
The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) announced that it is committed to raising at least $5 million, from its donors and its RJC Victory Fund super PAC, for Trump’s 2024 campaign. This marks the largest donation in RJC’s history.
The initiative comes at the same time when President Joe Biden faces losing his re-election for his initial support of Israel.
RJC national political director Sam Markstein said that the fundraising effort will be the most significant endeavor to “mobilize support in the Jewish community for President Trump.”

As President Joe Biden grapples to hang on to key voters ahead of the 2024 election, former President Donald Trump looks to sail to victory with surprising demographics.
A CNN data analyst was stunned to find that Trump is doing overwhelmingly well among black voters in comparison to Biden.
Harry Enten admitted that the latest polls are a "troubling sign" for Biden’s re-election chances that revealed that Trump’s growing popularity among black voters has surged.
“My goodness gracious,” he said. “This would be by far the best performance for a Republican candidate among Black voters in a generation, two generations, probably since 1960 and Richard Nixon against John F. Kennedy … This could be a truly historic margin," he said. "It’s quite a troubling sign for the Biden campaign.”
Enten admitted that Trump could see a “historic” swell from black voters as they continue to abandon Biden with just six months until the November election.

Presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump announced Friday that he will host his first campaign rally in New York since the 2016 election.
As President Joe Biden hemorrhages support across swing states and Democratic strongholds, Trump plans to whip up enthusiasm at Crotona Park in the South Bronx during a 6 p.m. campaign rally on May 23, according to a press release. This comes one week after the former president garnered a massive crowd of an estimated 80,000 to 100,000 people at a rally in Wildwood, New Jersey — another historically blue state.
“President Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States of America, will visit the Bronx, New York on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 6:00PM EDT to highlight the horrendous effects Crooked Joe Biden’s disastrous presidency has had on our economy,” the press release states.

Attorney John Eastman entered a plea of not guilty on Friday to conspiracy, fraud, and forgery charges for his alleged role in the effort to challenge the 2020 presidential election results.
Mr. Eastman, who is accused of devising a strategy to persuade Congress not to certify the election, was the first of 18 individuals charged in Arizona’s fake elector case to be arraigned.
In a brief statement outside the courthouse, Mr. Eastman denied all wrongdoing and said he believes he will be cleared of all charges.
“I had zero communications with the electors in Arizona [and] zero involvement in any of the election litigation in Arizona or legislative hearings,” he said. “And I am confident that with the laws faithfully applied, I will be fully exonerated at the end of this process.” He made no further comment.
Electors are people selected in each state to officially cast the state’s electoral votes within the U.S. Electoral College System during presidential elections.
Arraignments are scheduled for May 21 for 12 others charged in the case, including nine of the 11 Republicans who had submitted a document to Congress declaring former President Donald Trump the victor in Arizona.

More Shady Biden Accounts Have Been Discovered

Democrats and their friends in the mainstream media like to pretend that there's no evidence of Joe Biden's corruption and that the impeachment inquiry is just a partisan play. Of course, to believe that they have to pretend that all the sworn testimonies, bank records, emails, phone calls, videos, photos, text messages, and even White House visitor logs proving Biden's corruption don't exist. Not only is that not true, but the evidence continues to pile up.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer dropped a bombshell on Thursday, revealing that his panel had unearthed new financial accounts tied to the Biden family investigation. Adding to the drama, Comer announced a fresh subpoena aimed at an undisclosed bank, ramping up the pressure in this ongoing probe.
"This morning, I issued a subpoena for targeted financial information from a certain financial institution related to Jim Biden, Sarah Biden and Hunter Biden. This is a result of many of the documents that Devon Archer turned over," Comer told Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business.

The Oversight Committee began investigating the Biden family’s alleged shady business dealings over two years ago. In March, they called for Biden to testify before Congress, stating that "the committee has accounted for over $24 million that has flowed from foreign sources to you, your family, and their business associates."
"It is unbelievable," Comer continued. "I don't think you would find very many people that have a billion-dollar net worth that have as many different bank accounts as this Biden family had. Many of these were shell companies."
Those were "companies [whose] sole purpose was to launder the money that the Bidens were receiving from China, from Romania, from Russia," Comer added. "And never one time through the course of this entire investigation, even during the depositions with Hunter Biden and the transcribed interview with Jim Biden, were they able to answer exactly what the family did to receive this money."

President Barack Obama said he wanted to “fundamentally transform” America. President Biden is more ambitious. He wants to abolish America. In three years, he’s made an impressive start.
The left doesn’t want to govern. It doesn’t want to compete in the marketplace of ideas. It wants to turn this country into a “woke,” broke shell of its once great self.
We no longer have borders, even the semblance of safety in our cities, an impartial system of justice, or a military capable of defending us. The Ten Commandments have been replaced by three — diversity, equity and inclusion.
Mr. Biden doesn’t fit the image of a revolutionary — no bristling beard or fierce mustache, no hourslong harangues. He can barely stand unsupported for more than a few minutes. But a lifetime of rage has given him an appetite for destruction. Instead of rule or ruin, it’s rule to ruin.

President Joe Biden, who wears bespoke sneakers to prevent embarrassing collapses and whose command of the English language rivals that of most kindergarteners, is in bad political shape.
Uncle Joe's reelection campaign faces an uphill climb, given his disastrous handling of the economy — including a formal recession and four-decade-high inflation — and his abetting a catastrophic and historically unprecedented invasion on our southern border.
Cynicism and a sense of malaise are ubiquitous, and Americans overwhelmingly think the nation is headed in the wrong direction. Monday's New York Times/Siena College poll reflects this: Former President Donald Trump currently leads in five of the six most crucial swing states.
Given their terrible candidate, the candidate's awful track record, and their tremendous (if unjustified) fear that a second Trump term would pose an existential threat to "our democracy" (which they disingenuously claim to care about), it is unsurprising that Democrats have resorted to some of the slimiest tactics imaginable to derail Trump's comeback bid and push their senile octogenarian across the November finish line.

On Thursday, the "star witness" convicted felon's testimony was so bad that far-left CNN anchor Anderson Cooper remarked: "I think if I was a juror in this case watching that, I would think this guy is making it up as he's going along." Brutal.

Steve Forbes, chair and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media, expressed his views on the upcoming presidential debates and the current administration's performance during an interview with Newsmax on Thursday.
Forbes pointed out on "Rob Schmitt Tonight" that the Biden administration's actions have had significant repercussions, deterring business investment and leading to widespread social issues. These problems, Forbes argued, stem from what he perceives as failures in managing inflation and border control.
"Failure does not attract investment, you might say, and he's [President Joe Biden] visibly failed, and you see it in business investment, which is talking about the future, that has been very depressed," Forbes said.
"He [Biden] obviously botched it on inflation, and everything else, and opening the border like that, creating social problems all around the country, so people want to change."

Rep. Roy to Newsmax: DOJ Already Waived Executive Privilege on Biden Interview

Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, told Newsmax on Thursday that the Department of Justice "already waived executive privilege" when it gave the House Judiciary Committee the transcript of President Joe Biden's interview with special counsel Robert Hur.
Earlier in the day, the committee voted to proceed with an effort to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress after the White House blocked access to the audio recording of Biden's interview with Hur. Garland had advised Biden that the audio falls within the scope of executive privilege.
"So we voted today to hold the attorney general in contempt," Roy said during an appearance on "The Chris Salcedo Show."

A who’s-who of Obama administration alumni are seemingly behind a concerted push to drive a wedge between President Joe Biden and Israel.
For weeks, stories of chaos across the nation’s college campuses dominated the media. Anti-Israel protestors set up encampments, ignored charges of trespassing and ripped down the American flag to replace it with the Palestinian flag, all to protest the United States’ pro-Israel stance in the country’s war against Hamas. Recent reporting by Tablet Magazine, as well as public statements from former White House officials, reveal that members of the Obama administration are stoking the flames of anti-Israel sentiment in the Democratic Party, exacerbating a headache for Biden.
During the chaos, Biden avoided the press for nine days before publicly stating that the protests were not influencing his policy. But the damage was done, and some began to question the president’s commitment to Israel.

Trump Allies Rush to Show Support at New York Trial

Former President Donald Trump’s Republican allies have appeared in growing numbers at his New York trial—a trend that “sheds more light on” the trial, according to Larry Snowden, leader of Club 47 USA, known as the largest group of Trump supporters in the United States.
Mr. Snowden, observing news reports from his home in Florida, told The Epoch Times that it’s important to add prominent voices to the former president’s criticisms of the records-falsification case. They denounce it as a political prosecution—an allegation that those involved strongly reject.
Since last week, when Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) called the persecution of President Trump “despicable” in a widely publicized speech outside the court, other members of Congress and possible Trump vice presidential picks have followed suit. They attended the trial and then gave statements to news reporters outside the Manhattan courthouse.
Their outcry supplements President Trump’s protestations while a gag order limits what he can say about the trial.
“The American people now see more and more what’s really going on,” Mr. Snowden said. “No one is being fooled by this. It’s very obvious to the majority of American people that all of this is a game to try and defeat President Trump by keeping him from being out and campaigning.”
That’s backfiring, Mr. Snowden said, noting that the former president drew tens of thousands of people to a rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, on May 11.

New York Mayor Eric Adams just returned from Rome for a field trip to learn how to deal with the exploding Biden migrant population residing illegally in his city. He met with the pope.
There is no telling what Pope Francis told the mayor, but the answer should have been pretty clear.
Since about the 840s, the Vatican has protected itself by erecting massive stone walls surrounding the city — welcoming all, but requiring all visitors to enter through big beautiful gates controlled by the pope himself.
Elegant, simple and pretty smart, if you think about it. No word yet if Mr. Adams learned the right lesson.
