It’s instructive to watch the way people react to the pro-Hamas demonstrations on college campuses. You can learn a lot, especially about members of the media and President Biden.

In recent days, large groups of students at elite schools have decided that Israel does not have the right to defend itself against the existential threat it faces every day. The kids side with Hamas, the terrorist organization responsible for the Oct. 7 attack on Israel, the bloodiest assault on Jews since the Holocaust.

Before we get to our spineless president, we should check in on some of the media reporting, because much of it went about how you would expect.

In the last days of East Germany, when government officials detected that their power was unraveling, they ratcheted up enforcement of the nation’s reporting laws. These laws made it a felony to know of a crime and fail to report it. It was also a crime to tell the person of whose crime you learned that you had done so. There was no right to privacy and no freedom of speech.

This Orwellian tangle resulted, of course, in many false reports of crimes. It also resulted in many prosecutions for failing to report crimes or warning others that they were being spied upon. As of this past weekend, we are headed to the same authoritarian place. Thanks to legislation that fell one vote short of demise in each house of Congress last weekend, the United States in 2024 will soon resemble East Germany in the late 1980s, where nearly everyone was a spy and no one could talk about it.

Here is the backstory.

The quintessential American right is the right to be left alone. Justice Louis Brandeis called it the most comprehensive of rights and the right most valued by civilized people. It presumes that you can think as you wish, say what you think, read what you want, and publish what you say, that you can exclude whomever you wish — including the government — from your property and from your thoughts, and that you can do all this without a government permission slip or fear of government reprisal.

This natural right is also protected in the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution, which requires a warrant issued by a judge based upon probable cause of crime before the government can invade your property or spy on you.

The warrant requirement serves three purposes.

In the rugged landscape of American politics, where convictions and ideologies often clash with the harsh realities of judicial proceedings, former President Donald Trump's recent assertion that he could turn New York red in the 2024 elections amidst his ongoing trial is not just a campaign strategy but a rallying cry for upholding fundamental American values.

New York, traditionally a stronghold for the Democratic party, might seem an unlikely target for a Republican resurgence. Yet Mr. Trump’s audacious strategy reflects more than mere political bravado; it’s a testament to the enduring spirit of challenging the status quo and reasserting the voice of the overlooked American worker.

The president for America First Legal Stephen Miller told Newsmax on Friday that the four criminal indictments against former President Donald Trump amount to "the most supreme form of election interference."

Trump is facing a total four separate indictments for business fraud, unlawful retention of classified documents, and two cases of election interference. Opening arguments for the business transaction case began this week in Manhattan.

Miller pointed out that because of Trump's various legal entanglements he has been kept off the campaign trail.

"When he's in that courtroom, he is not fundraising, he's not stumping for House candidates to keep the House, he's not stumping for Senate candidates to retake the Senate for the GOP," he said during an appearance on "The Chris Salcedo Show."

The former senior adviser for Trump added, "Every single person involved in this persecution in New York is every day engaged in a conspiracy to subvert the election process in the United States, which is an unsanctioned criminal activity."

"There is no crime that has been committed here other than the crime of the persecutors," Miller said.

Former President Donald Trump recently picked up an endorsement from his former attorney general, Bill Barr, who turned into a massive critic of the 45th president since leaving the Department of Justice.

As Matt reported, even though he soured on his former boss, Barr still has the sense to realize that President Biden is the greater threat to the nation.

While he recently told Fox News’s Neil Cavuto he’s not happy with the choice between Biden and Trump, he said it’s his “duty” to select the candidate who will “do the least harm to the country.”

To him, that’s Trump and a Republican administration.

“The Biden administration is in fact the greater threat to democracy,” he added. “They have a totalitarian temper. They have bought into the progressive movement. And they’re trying to squelch opposition and freedom of speech.”

Trump responded as one would expect.

“Wow! Former A.G. Bill Barr, who let a lot of great people down by not investigating Voter Fraud in our Country, has just Endorsed me for President despite the fact that I called him ‘Weak, Slow Moving, Lethargic, Gutless, and Lazy’ (New York Post!),” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Based on the fact that I greatly appreciate his wholehearted Endorsement, I am removing the word ‘Lethargic’ from my statement. Thank you Bill.”

Former President Donald Trump‘s campaign managers are painting President Biden‘s reelection hopes in bleak terms.

In a memo Thursday, Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles said Mr. Biden‘s failure to solve problems at home and abroad is hardening “voter perceptions about his inability to handle a crisis, demonstrate competency, and reduce inflation.”

“These are key indicators that drive almost every election — and Biden has shown no ability to correct the course,” Mr. LaCivita and Ms. Wiles said.

Supreme Court justices on Thursday appeared to signal they may hand former President Donald Trump a partial victory in his presidential immunity case by sending it back to a lower court.

Trump’s attorney Dean John Sauer argued that presidents should have constitutional immunity from prosecution for official acts conducted during their presidency. Chief Justice John Roberts, as well as justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, brought up the potential for the Supreme Court to send the case back to the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia , which could delay a trial on Trump’s election interference case until at least after the election, according to Politico. But the one issue that is becoming even more important than his dismal economy is illegal immigration. Imagine my surprise when I discovered I agreed 100 percent with this statement in the New York Times.

Not that I think the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is going to lose this case against former President Trump. In fact, I believe that thanks to the ridiculous partisanship and left-wing propaganda that has brainwashed the New York jury pool, and because of the ridiculous bias of the presiding judge in the case, Donald Trump is likely to be convicted in this case, on whatever the imaginary crime is that he is actually being accused of.

But sometimes, a person can win the battle while actually losing the war. And that is what Joe Biden, Alvin Bragg, and their allies are currently in the process of doing.

When even the New York Times has an op-ed by a liberal law professor in good standing that the Bragg case is a joke, you can be sure that the real swing voters for this upcoming election will dismiss any conviction here as obvious partisan lawfare. And every day that this partisan farce continues, the left-wing mainstream media, which heartily believes its own propaganda that Donald Trump is some demonic, undemocratic, corrupt person, will continue to play it up, apparently in coordination with each other to develop anti-Trump talking points. This will allow Trump and his allies to legitimately campaign against the partisan lawfare by the Biden administration. After all, the opening statement in the prosecution’s case was made by the former third ranking Biden Department of Justice lawyer, who transferred to being a lowly line prosecutor in the Manhattan DA’s Office. That is unprecedented; and it is not a good picture for Bragg.

The same Columbia University professor who advocated defunding the police is the same professor who is now pleading for law enforcement to protect him from the anti-Israel protestors invading the university’s campus.

Columbia Business School assistant professor Shai Davidai was a staunch anti-police advocate in the past, accusing law enforcement of using their weapons “disproportionately on black men.”

“Lawmakers give police offers the ammunition which they then use disproportionately on Black men. Should we hold lawmakers accountable?” Davidai said when asked by author and filmmaker Mike Cernovich if he is “worried that the evil racist police will shoot people?”

However, Davidai is demanding Columbia officials to send New York Police officers to his side and escort him to and from his office on campus amid the anti-Israel protests occupying university grounds.

He accused Columbia of “completely fail[ing] to protect the safety of Jewish students,” resulting in him “requesting approval to have a police escort of at least 10 cops with me.”

“USA” chants broke out Thursday morning in New York as former President Donald Trump made a campaign stop with union workers.

Trump squeezed in a meeting with members of the Teamsters union at a construction site in Manhattan around 6 a.m. before attending his trial on alleged falsified business records relating to payment for a nondisclosure agreement with former porn star Stormy Daniels.

Video shows crowds of union workers, some wearing neon vests and hard hats, chanting “USA,” “We want Trump” and “We love Trump,” as the former president can be seen signing hats and engaging with those lining the streets.

Remember Eric Ciaramella? He’s the Ukraine whistleblower who lobbed a report sent to Rep. Adam Schiff’s (D-CA) office in 2019, which set off the first Trump impeachment effort. It’s where the whole drama started between Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the perfect phone call where the crux of the charge against Trump is that there was an attempted quid pro quo arrangement: Zelensky would investigate Biden’s alleged felonious activities during the Burisma investigation, where a top Ukrainian prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, was fired, in return for the United States not cutting off military aid.

With the backdrop of the 2020 election, Democrats alleged Trump was trying to get foreign actors to interfere in our elections. It was a circus that lasted weeks, distracting us from focusing on preparing for the coronavirus pandemic that was to be unleashed the following year.

Hunter Biden was on the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company, for which he had zero experience. It was a no-show job, and the fee he was earning was quite steep. Burisma was paying top dollar for government access and a legal shield. They got that, and the main allegation is that Biden wanted Shokin gone to keep the gravy train going. Supreme Court to Hear Trump Immunity Appeal That Could Further Delay Cases

Experts say the high court may remand the case back to the federal court for further proceedings, a move that would give Trump a strategic win.

The Supreme Court, in its upcoming immunity case filed by former President Donald Trump, may rule to send the case back to the district court in Washington, allowing him to further delay proceedings as desired, according to experts.

April 25 is the date the justices set for oral arguments over President Trump’s claims of immunity from prosecution under the indictment brought by special counsel Jack Smith in Washington. It’s unclear how the justices will rule, but a decision, expected in June, will alter the course of the former president’s case and potentially complicate his others as well.

Representing President Trump will be attorney D. John Sauer, who also argued for him in the D.C. Circuit. Former Deputy Solicitor General Michael Dreeben is expected to argue for Mr. Smith’s team.

The question of how much immunity presidents enjoy is a hotly debated topic and integral to how the government divides power among its three separate branches. Beyond some of the more immediate questions surrounding presidential immunity, the justices may contemplate the more far-reaching implications of their ruling on immunity. For example: How will their decision impact other ongoing cases? Will it align with how the framers of the Constitution envisioned presidential immunity?

President Trump pointed to the landmark 1803 decision in Marbury v. Madison, which said in part that a president’s official acts “can never be examinable by the courts,” to argue that courts couldn’t review his official conduct. He told the Supreme Court it should rule that presidents enjoy immunity for their official acts and that criminal prosecution could only come after impeachment and conviction by Congress.

The justices decided to tackle a narrower question: “Whether and if so to what extent does a former president enjoy presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure in office?”

NEW YORK — House Speaker Mike Johnson called on Columbia President Minouche Shafik to resign Wednesday over her handling of anti-Israel protest turmoil, declaring in an extraordinary visit to the Ivy League university that school officials have allowed “lawless agitators” to take over the campus.

“I’m here today joining my colleagues and calling on President Shafik to resign if she cannot immediately bring order to this chaos,” said Mr. Johnson from the steps of a library on the Manhattan campus. “As speaker of the House, I am committing today that the Congress will not remain silent as Jewish students are expected to run for their lives and stay home from their classes hiding in fear.”

He was joined Wednesday by several House Republicans, who often had to speak over the shouts and chants of campus protesters who sought to drown them out. The lawmakers earlier met with Jewish students and with Ms. Shafik.

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La., credits God and his Catholic faith with playing huge roles in his recovery from blood cancer.

Scalise returned to Congress in mid-February after completing treatment for multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer. He underwent chemotherapy for four months and was isolated for six weeks due to a stem-cell transplant.

"For so many people that are watching, that said prayers and offered just true, genuine support, I can't thank everybody enough — because you feel that when you're going through things," Scalise said on Tuesday's "EWTN News Nightly."

"And thank God, God performed a lot of miracles and answered a lot of prayers."

Scalise was asked what he would tell someone battling cancer or another serious illness.

"God gives you the strength to get through it," he said. "He puts people around you — and recognize that it's not just God himself in the flesh, it's doctors and friends and other people that are in your life that can help you get through those tough times.

Prosecutors in Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg's office have finally revealed the underlying crime they allege Donald Trump was committing when he allegedly falsified business records.

According to Fox News, "New York prosecutor Joshua Steinglass on Tuesday said the other crime was a violation of a New York law called 'conspiracy to promote or prevent election.'"

That law, New York Law 17-152, reads:

Any two or more persons who conspire to promote or prevent the election of any person to a public office by unlawful means and which conspiracy is acted upon by one or more of the parties thereto, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.

Speaking of Michael Cohen, former National Enquirer owner David Pecker, and Donald Trump, Steinglass' co-counsel Michael Colangelo argued that in 2015:

"Those three men formed a conspiracy to influence the election."

Beginning with opening statements, given on Monday, President Donald J. Trump’s so-called hush-money trial will trap him in Judge Juan Merchan’s Manhattan courtroom every weekday but Wednesdays for the foreseeable future.

Democrats have plotted to keep Trump off the campaign trail.

He should crush their dreams and spend weeknights courting Northeastern voters.

Trump previewed this strategy at the Sanaa Convenient Store at Broadway and West 139th Street in Harlem, deep inside the 13th Congressional District.

The Census Bureau describes N.Y.-13 as 53.4% Hispanic, 25.3% black, and just 18.8% white. With a Cook Partisan Voting Index of D+38, this is New York State’s most Democrat congressional district.

This seemed like the last place Trump dare venture.

But when he did so last Tuesday evening, a warm crowd cheered, "USA! USA! USA!" and "We love Trump!"

Chants of "Four more years!" erupted before these Manhattanites burst into "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Trump snapped photos with voters, shook their hands, and answered journalists’ questions.

Former Arkansas Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee told Newsmax on Tuesday that former President Donald Trump's ongoing criminal trial in New York City is a ploy by Democrats "to attack a political opponent using the gears of government."

During an appearance on "Wake Up America," Huckabee noted that Trump still dominates the news cycle despite being out of office and while facing multiple legal cases against him, whereas Biden's public speeches barely are covered by major networks.

"Trump has the uncanny ability to control the news cycle, no matter what else is going on," Huckabee said. "Joe Biden can barely mumble his way through a response to a question if he takes them at all, and he usually takes them from pre-arranged reporters."

Joe Biden has told a lot of lies over his time in office.

But what sets him apart from politicians before him is the shamelessness with which he tells falsehoods—that even after the stories are roundly debunked, he continues to tell the same false story without any concern for reality.

Just to show the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, his campaign account is the same way. Yes, all campaign accounts pump their candidates, but this account also has little regard for the truth.

Both tag-teamed to spread a provable falsehood on Tuesday.

"Don’t inject bleach. And don’t vote for the guy who told you to inject bleach," Biden (or the person in charge of his account said). The campaign account said, '"Four years ago today, Trump told Americans to inject bleach on national television."

Except the video they use for their claim doesn't back that up — because former President Donald Trump never said it. It's one of those false stories that the left and some in the media have spread for years despite it not being true and being debunked.

The hush money case against former President Donald Trump got underway with opening statements on Monday and the first witness in the case.

George Washington law school professor and Fox contributor Jonathan Turley said that the case has left him in "utter disbelief" that they've pursued this case against Trump. He noted some of the problems with the case.


“What is clear, is in this case, Trump is right. I mean, this is an embarrassment. I mean, the fact that we are actually talking about this case being presented in a New York courtroom, leaves me in utter disbelief. I mean, the the arguments today did in fact capture all the problems here,” Turley said Monday afternoon on Fox News.

"You had this misdemeanor under state law, that had run out, this is going back to relate it to the 2016 election. And they zapped it back into life by alleging that there was a campaign finance violation under the federal laws that doesn't exist," he said.


He noted the Department of Justice didn't view it that way (they didn't pursue any violation).

Turley made it clear he thought the case "should not have been brought."

He also questioned it happening before the election like this, saying there was "no reason" for that and he called out the weaponization of the system against Trump.

It works. It all works. On Monday, Argentina's President Javier Milei announced that the South American nation has achieved a GDP surplus for the first time since 2008.

“This is the last stretch of a heroic effort that the Argentines are making — and for the first time in a long time, this time, the effort will be worth it,” Milei said.

“Contrary to the forecasts of most political leaders, professional economists on television and in the media, specialized journalists, and a large part of the Argentine establishment, I would like to announce that the national public sector recorded a financial surplus of more than 275 billion pesos [roughly $310 million] in March,” Milei said, “thus achieving a financial surplus of 0.2 percent of the GDP during the first quarter of the year, after almost 20 years.”

Milei noted that, while the concept of fiscal surplus may appear to be “simply a technical definition that does not affect the lives of Argentines,” it is “nothing less than the only possible starting point to end once and for all the inflationary hell” that Argentina has faced in recent years. The GDP surplus, while something of an arcane measure, involves Argentina's achieving a budget surplus that exceeds its GDP. In February, my colleague Jeff Charles reported that Argentina, under Milei's leadership, had achieved their first monthly budget surplus in over ten years.

Smart people know to avoid fallacies.

One of them is known as the fallacy of post hoc ergo propter hoc. It’s Latin for: after this, therefore because of this.

The classic example concerns the rooster and the sunrise. Every morning before the sun comes up, the rooster does his crazy crowing routine, waking up everyone around. Shortly after, the light begins to appear on the horizon. If you knew nothing else, and you watched this happen over and over, you might conclude that the rooster is causing the sun to rise.

Of course this is testable. You could kill the rooster and see what happens. The sun still comes up. But wait just a moment. Just because this one rooster is dead, doesn’t mean that all roosters are gone. Some rooster somewhere is crowing and causing the sun to rise. So your little experiment doesn’t disprove the theory.

What a conundrum, right? If someone is convinced that a bird is controlling the sun, there is probably no way to convince him otherwise.

The terrorist Iranian regime's unprecedented recent attack on Israel, which included 185 drones, 36 cruise missiles and 110 surface-to-surface missiles, is an unambiguous casus belli — an act of war — under international law.

Of course, Iranian proxies spread across the Middle East, such as Lebanon-based Hezbollah, Gaza-based Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the Yemen-based Houthis, have committed countless previous acts of war against Israel.

But last weekend was something different entirely: For the very first time since fanatical Islamists overthrew Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and took power in 1979, Iran launched such attacks directly from its own soil.

The regime's attack against the Jewish state, a tactical failure in which 99% of Iran's varying projectiles were successfully intercepted by the Israel Defense Forces and a U.S.-led multinational coalition, is highly revealing.

Dershowitz to Newsmax: New York 'Violating' Voters' Rights With Trump Trial

Harvard University Law School professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz told Newsmax on Monday that the state of New York is "violating" the rights of voters by prosecuting former President Donald Trump in his hush money trial.

Trump was ordered to appear in a New York City court on Monday for his ongoing criminal trial over alleged hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels. On the same day, the US Supreme Court is set to hear arguments concerning whether or not Trump is immune from prosecution in the federal case against him over his alleged attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Dershowitz told "Newsline" that "it's a terrible day for American law," adding, "it's being abused for partisan political purposes and to constitute election interference."

He went on to note that "The state court has no jurisdiction over federal election laws" that Trump is charged with violating.

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley said he is in “utter disbelief” over the opening statements of the trial brought forth by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

Former President Donald Trump arrived at the courthouse Monday to hear opening statements from the prosecution and defense teams over the 34-count indictment accusing him of falsifying business records to cover up an alleged hush money payment to former porn actress Stormy Daniels. It is alleged that Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen paid $130,000 to Daniels to keep an alleged extramarital affair between her and Trump undisclosed ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

“What is clear is in this case, Trump is right,” Turley said. “I mean, this is an embarrassment. I mean, the fact that we are actually talking about this case being presented in a New York courtroom leaves me in utter disbelief. I mean, the arguments today did in fact capture all the problems here. You know, you had this misdemeanor under state law that had run out. This is going back to the 2016 election. And they zapped it back into life by alleging that there was a campaign finance under the federal laws that doesn’t exist. The Department of Justice doesn’t view it this way.”

Turley compared the allegations against Trump to former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, whose campaign funded the Steele Dossier to investigate the now-discredited claims that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election. “But also keep in mind, this is what Hillary Clinton’s people did. Remember, when they funded the Steele Dossier, which they denied to reporters. They put it as a legal expense, and then they fought the eventual fine that they received from the federal government saying ‘well it was a legal expense.’ But now you’ve got some of the same Democrats supporting this same bizarre theory,” Turley continued.
