He got as far as telling them the technology would “touch every profession, every classroom, every hospital, every laboratory, every person, and every relationship you have.” The boos rose before he could finish his own sentence. “I can hear you,” he said gently. The boos continued, as did Schmidt, who was unable to fully conceal the awkward embarrassment.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas issued a lengthy dissent criticizing the high court’s majority ruling against President Donald Trump’s executive order restricting birthright citizenship, saying the decision would effectively devalue American citizenship as it was understood by those who created the Constitution’s 14th Amendment.

Thomas said the majority is attempting to repurpose the 14th Amendment “to protect its own set of preferred rights that the Reconstruction Congress never contemplated and that cannot find support in its text,” referring to the post-Civil War era of the mid-to-late 19th century.

Further, he argued that the June 30 ruling denigrates the idea of U.S. citizenship, saying that it has been used by “foreign birth tourists and illegal aliens.”

The Federal Communications Commission is drafting a rule to prohibit the imports of Chinese-made solar and battery inverters over possible risks to the U.S. power grid.

The rule, which could be published as early as this year, would apply to new foreign models of inverters, Reuters reported on Tuesday. Inverters are devices used to convert power produced by solar panels or stored in batteries into electricity for homes or businesses.

China is the global producer of inverters, led by companies Sungrow Power Supply and Huawei. Many have raised national security concerns about China’s dominance in the technology, manufacturing, and critical mineral sectors.

Simply put, the Supreme Court’s recent ruling striking down President Donald Trump’s birthright citizenship ban was both legally and historically wrong, as well as a misguided interpretation of the 14th Amendment.

Since Trump’s inauguration, he has issued a slew of executive orders but none more controversial than banning the birthright citizenship of illegal immigrants. In essence, the president has argued that those born to illegal immigrants are not “citizens” of the United States, according to the 14th Amendment.

To date, two federal judges have ruled that Trump’s executive order is unconstitutional, holding that the clear language of the 14th Amendment confers citizenship to anyone physically born in the U.S. In fact, it is commonly believed that under the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment, mere birth on U.S. soil is sufficient to obtain U.S. citizenship. However strong this belief is perceived, it is mistaken not only within the text of the citizenship clause but also incongruent with the political theory of the American founding.

Bill Maher is the perfect liberal, at least on paper — yet despite his talk shows being nominated for Emmy awards more than 40 times, it's only in Donald Trump's Washington, D.C. that Maher finally gets the recognition he craves.

He's now the 27th recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, an award first won by the late, legendary Richard Pryor in 1998 and last year given to Conan O'Brien.

Not every recipient has been politically left-wing, but Maher stands out as a rare left-leaning comic who dares criticize his own tribe, and he's paid a price for it.

The American left has the same outlook as Europe's, and in the clash between the left and the Trump-style right, a liberal like Bill Maher is going to find himself on the right, whether he likes it or not.

This is why the Trump coalition is going to win in the long run, and it's why Trump remains such a commanding figure, even on a night honoring a comedian who's so often been his critic.

The Supreme Court on June 30 struck down President Donald Trump’s executive order excluding children of illegal immigrants and legal temporary visitors from automatic birthright citizenship.

Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the majority opinion in the case, which is known as Trump v. Barbara.

“A child born on American soil and subject to American law was made an American citizen,” Roberts wrote.

Justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, and Samuel Alito dissented.

Justice Brett Kavanaugh concurred in the decision to invalidate the executive order but disagreed with aspects of the reasoning in the majority opinion.

Americans agree: The US brought has light to the world in its relatively short time as a nation.

Most Americans believe that democracy is this country’s greatest gift to the world, according to a new poll published out ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Those polled also gave a surprising answer for the most American food — shunning hot dogs, apple pie and pizza for the humble hamburger, according to the survey from CBS News.

Asked what they thought America’s greatest invention was, democracy/freedom came top among those surveyed, with 16% of the vote.

Second on the list was the lightbulb, at 14%.

Americans surveyed said democracy was the country’s greatest gift to the world.

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito warned Monday that the Court’s ruling on mail-in ballots opens the floodgates for potential voter fraud opportunities.

In a 5-4 decision authored by Trump-appointed Justice Amy Coney Barrett, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Monday that federal law allows states to continue counting non-military mail-in ballots that arrive after Election Day. Alito wrote in his dissenting opinion that the decision “leaves open opportunities for voter fraud that may further undermine Americans’ faith in the integrity of this country’s elections.” (RELATED: These 14 States Allow Mail-In Ballots To Count Even After Election Day — For Now)

“Diverse sources have recognized that mail-in ballots increase the potential for fraud,” Alito added. “In 2005, a committee chaired by former President Jimmy Carter and former Secretary of State James Baker found that absentee voting was ‘the largest source of potential voter fraud’ in American elections.”

The conservative justice also referred to a case from 2008 in which the late Justice John Paul Stevens “recognized that the risk of voter fraud ‘perpetrated using absentee ballots’ is ‘real’ and ‘could affect the outcome of a close election.'”

Monday’s bombshell Supreme Court ruling established that “election day” isn’t really election day at all; it’s a period of time.

Specifically, the court decided 5-4 in Watson v. RNC that states could count mail-in ballots even if they were received after the election date, as long as they were postmarked in time. 

Naturally, many conservatives, including President Trump, were deeply disappointed by the decision, which to many seemed to defy common sense and the notion of election integrity. California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and his ilk were almost certainly cheering; after all, they still haven’t certified the governor’s primary, which was held on June 2.

A clown show.

Justice Samuel Alito was one of those who strongly disagreed with the opinion, and he torched the ruling in his dissent, which was joined in full by Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch and in part by Brett Kavanaugh. He summed up his opposition by concluding that the ruling virtually invites in an obvious danger: fraud.

…today's decision leaves open opportunities for voter fraud that may further undermine Americans' faith in the integrity of this country's elections. Diverse sources have recognized that mail-in ballots increase the potential for fraud.

It's a troubling time to be an advocate of individual liberty. A slate of political candidates, mostly but not exclusively in the New York metropolitan area, has been winning primary elections. These people call themselves "Democratic Socialists," borrowing the term from one of the most visible adherents to this nitwittery, the daffy old Bolshevik from Vermont, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT). Now, this very language - "Democratic Socialist - is an oxymoron. There's no such thing as a democratic socialist, no matter how often actual communist and socialist nations like North Korea throw around the terms "democratic" or "republic." Socialism, as properly defined, is inherently totalitarian. It always has been. It always will be. And socialism, at its heart, is defined as an economic system in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the government. Again, socialists and commies will complain that this means they are owned by "the people." Horse squeeze. When you own something, you have some say in how it is used. Citizens - excuse me, serfs, in a communist or socialist nation, have no say.

Commentary

The latest attack on economic growth comes wrapped in moral language. Its advocates promise less poverty, greater equality, and a safer climate. Their policies would deliver less production, less investment, and fewer opportunities. That is managed decline, not prosperity.

The UN-backed “Roadmap for Eradicating Poverty Beyond Growth” proposes 80 policies meant to reduce society’s dependence on growth. A separate “Global Justice Report,” led by Thomas Piketty and researchers at the World Inequality Lab, puts numbers behind this vision.

The reports differ, but they share the same central mistake. They treat growth as an obstacle to justice rather than the force that has lifted billions of people.

Both Iranian and American officials have refused to back down over control of the Strait of Hormuz after both countries launched fresh strikes on June 27 and early on June 28, potentially scrapping a ceasefire agreement and memorandum of understanding between the two parties to end hostilities.

On June 28, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Iran is the sole country that bears responsibility for opening the strait, which was reopened earlier in June under the memorandum, and claimed that no other country can interfere in the country’s mission, according to state-run media.

The Iranian regime was blamed for a strike on a ship in the region, prompting the U.S. military to respond this weekend by striking Iranian sites. In turn, Tehran launched attacks against Bahrain and Kuwait, two small Middle Eastern oil-rich countries located near Iran.

Malaysia Extends Search for MH370 for Another Year

The Malaysian government extended its deal with deep-sea exploration firm Ocean Infinity to search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 for another year, the country’s transport ministry announced on June 29.

The Boeing 777 was carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew when it vanished during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014, perplexing the world. Multiple search operations in the southern Indian Ocean so far have yielded scant results.

MH370 was flying over the South China Sea when it abruptly disappeared from air traffic control. Its last voice contact was made at 1:19 a.m. local time on March 8, 2014.

More than 150 Chinese nationals were passengers on the doomed flight, along with 50 Malaysians, including the crew, and citizens of the United States, Canada, France, Australia, Indonesia, India, Ukraine, and other countries.

President Donald Trump on Monday morning said Iran has requested a meeting with the U.S. following a weekend of exchanged military attacks.

"IRAN HAS REQUESTED A MEETING. IT WILL TAKE PLACE TOMORROW IN DOHA!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The announcement came as U.S. and Iranian officials continued implementing the memorandum of understanding reached earlier this month, with Qatar serving as a key mediator in the negotiations.

Trump did not provide additional details about who would attend the meeting or what issues would be discussed.

Trump's announcement follows heightened tensions over the weekend, when the two countries exchanged military strikes before diplomatic contacts resumed.

Reuters reported Monday that Iranian and U.S. technical teams are expected to meet in Doha in the coming days as work continues on implementing the agreement.

Beijing’s expansionism against Taiwan faces mounting global pushback, yet experts warn the regime will defy the pressure and relentlessly squeeze the island just short of war.

The UK, France, and Germany expressed concern about Chinese activity in waters east of Taiwan on June 24.

Chinese actions “threaten regional stability and the freedom of navigation and safety of international shipping,” according to a joint statement issued by the British Office Taipei, the French Office in Taipei, and the German Institute Taipei.

The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), the de facto U.S. embassy in Taipei, said the same day that China had “seriously undermined regional stability,” according to a press release from Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Sometimes, there is a good reason to state the obvious.

The United Kingdom's vocal Reform UK Party chief, Nigel Farage, is well acquainted with this necessity. He's doing so now, in a warning to the United States, pointing out how mass "migration" has changed Britain, possibly beyond repair. And, he points out as well, the problem goes well beyond the British Isles.

Nigel Farage told Fox News Digital that mass migration has radically changed the country's makeup. The Reform UK leader argued that Britain’s political system is "completely broken" following Prime Minister Keir Starmer's resignation. Farage is calling for a new general election, predicting his party has "every chance of winning."

Speaking exclusively from the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship conference in London this week, a forum focused on debates over culture, Western civilization and Judeo-Christian values, Farage said Starmer’s downfall was not an isolated political event, but the latest aftershock of the Brexit revolt that upended British politics a decade ago.

"Ten years ago yesterday, we had a political earthquake in Britain. It was called Brexit," Farage said. "And the two old parties have never quite adapted to it."

Brexit, while a great idea, isn't the cause of Britain's real problems today. Mass illegal immigration is.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) vowed that “Anthony Fauci will answer to the American people” in an X post as he ramps up his investigation into the former top health official’s role in the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Paul, who chairs the Senate Homeland Security Committee, said his investigation into COVID-19 origins has been blocked in the past but is now moving forward with broader access to records. Paul suggested that newly reviewed evidence and a subpoena for testimony will force answers to long-running questions about the pandemic and government-funded research.

“The investigation of COVID origins has been going on for several years,” Paul said on Fox News’s Sunday Futures with Maria Bartiromo. “The Biden administration’s stubbornness wouldn’t give us any of the documents. The Trump administration has been very cooperative; they’ve turned over virtually everything.”

Germany tried to bury a film, so Elon Musk handed it to the world instead.

The billionaire uploaded the full action thriller “Citizen Vigilante” to X this week after the movie was effectively barred from release in Germany. Musk, a critic of mass migration, made the entire feature viewable on his platform for 48 hours, according to the film’s official X account.

The film stars Armie Hammer as a man who turns to vigilante violence against criminals and corrupt officials after a personal tragedy, The Post Millennial reported. Directed by Germany’s Uwe Boll and released in the United States by Quiver, the movie drew condemnation over its depiction of migrants as violent offenders. No government decree shut the film down. Germany’s FSK rating board withheld any age classification, a designation known as “Kein Kennzeichen” that legally blocks a movie from theaters, retail shelves, and streaming services across the country, according to ReadySteadyCut.

Three U.S. government departments have urged American states and businesses to strengthen ties with Taiwan, saying such engagement is consistent with long-standing U.S. policy, despite pressure from China.

In joint letters, the State Department, Department of Agriculture, and Commerce Department said Chinese embassies and consulates have regularly contacted U.S. officials and companies to discourage cooperation with Taiwan, often by misrepresenting Washington’s policy.

“Taiwan is a vital US partner and democratic success story,” the departments said in a letter to U.S. governors.

“We hope you will take advantage of all the opportunities that our shared values and robust relationship with Taiwan offer.”

President Donald Trump must "bring the hammer down" on China to stop Beijing from supplying Iran with weapons and intelligence, China expert and author Gordon Chang told Newsmax on Sunday.

Appearing on "Sunday Agenda" with co-hosts Joe Pinion and Christina Thompson, Chang argued that China's support for Tehran has allowed Iran to continue confronting the United States despite repeated U.S. military strikes.

"China was supplying Iran during the war," Chang said.

"They supplied them, for instance, with targeting information that the Iranians used to kill six Americans on March 1."

Chang also alleged that Chinese military cargo planes landed in Iran during the conflict after turning off their transponders, saying Beijing continued providing weapons while helping sustain Iran's military capabilities.

"Iran, in a very real sense, is a Chinese proxy," he said. "The Chinese are now enjoying watching Iran defy the United States."

The comments came as tensions remain high after renewed fighting around the Strait of Hormuz threatened a fragile U.S.-brokered ceasefire.

President Donald Trump said Saturday night “the Islamic Republic of Iran will no longer exist” if the United States is “forced to militarily complete the job” in Iran after the U.S. launched another round of retaliatory strikes against Tehran Saturday.

“It is very possible that they will never learn!” Trump said on Truth Social, referring to Iran twice launching drone attacks at commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz over the past two days. Iran also attacked Bahrain early Saturday morning.

U.S. Strikes Iran Again After Tehran Breaks Ceasefire With Tanker Attack

The U.S. struck Iran on Saturday in retaliation for its launching a drone attack around 4:30 a.m. today, according to a post from the U.S. Central Command.

CENTCOM said that the strikes were retaliation against Iran for a drone attack this morning. The drone attack targeted a Panama-flagged tanker traveling near the Strait of Hormuz that was hauling more than two million barrels of crude oil.

Iran was given a chance to keep the ceasefire agreement, but hasn't, CENTCOM said. The new U.S. strikes targeted Iranian military surveillance infrastructure, communication systems, air defense sites, drone storage facilities, and minelayer capabilities.

If Iran keeps violating the cease-fire agreement, President Donald Trump said that the U.S might "be forced to militarily complete the job that we very successfully started," he said in a Truth Social post. "If that happens, the Islamic Republic of Iran will no longer exist!"

Trump the right man for the times as ‘communists’ are ‘making their move’

What to know

* President Trump criticized Democrats for embracing communism after recent primaries in New York.
* He said communism has failed everywhere it has been tried.
* He stated that communism promises everything but takes from those who earn it.
* House Speaker Mike Johnson warned about radical candidates running for Congress.

OPINION:

President Trump in the last couple days and in response to the radical nutjobs elected in New York’s Democrat primaries, called out the party for its embrace of communists and said that despite communism’s unbroken record of failure in all the countries in which its been tried, the low information voters of the left were either too stupid to understand history, too stupid to care about history or too stupid to see the writing on the wall.

He didn’t actually call the Democrats nutjobs or talk about the stupidity of the Democrat Party’s voters. But it was implied.

That’s because these days, no matter how you slice it — socialism — communism — Marxism — progressivism — democratic socialism — Democrat — the common denominator of all is stupidity. 

Anyhow. This is what Trump actually said in a Truth Social post: “The communists are finally making their move. I’ve been waiting and preparing for this for a long time. It’s easy to be a communist. All you have to do is say, ‘I’ll give you everything,’ but that means you’re taking it away from others that have earned it.”

He also said separately, “Over thousands of years, that ideology has not worked once.”

Nope. Not once, Well — truthfully, if the goal is poverty, disease, disaster, destruction, devastation and death, then communism has indeed “worked.” It’s worked beautifully. But if it’s to spread the warmth, as New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has suggested, when he said during his inauguration that it’s high time Americans lose that rugged individualism and join in the “warmth of collectivism” — if it’s to spread that warmth, then communism, thy grade is perennially “F,’ for fabulously flunking Flunky McFlunk Face failure.

Democrats aren’t event democrats any more.

They are, as Trump has suggested, card-carrying commies.

“The Marxists have nominated some of the most radical candidates to ever run for office, and they’re running for Congress,” House Speaker Mike Johnson warned. “The insurgent left is on the rise.”

They call themselves anything but communists and Marxists. But communists and Marxists are what they are.

Democratic socialist Darializa Avila Chevalier, who just won the Democrat primary for a congressional seat, once bragged how she couldn’t find a napkin so she wiped her hands with the American flag. Democratic socialist Claire Valdez, who just won her own Democrat primary for a congressional seat, hasn’t met a tax she wouldn’t want to impose on the rich — nor a border agent she didn’t want to fire. Add in her hostility to all-things-Israel and voila, there’s the recipe for today’s modern Democrat Party. That is to say, democratic socialist. That is to say, communist-slash-Marxist. Former democrat socialist Brad Lander, who just won his own race against Democrats for a congressional seat, said his first act in Congress will be to “vanquish Trump’s fascism” — which tells all there is to know about Lander. But just in case: He, too, wants to abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and he, too, thinks rich people are to blame for much of society’s ills (albeit not their money, which he aims to take and redistribute).

It’s crazy times in America — perilous times even. And if Americans don’t awaken to the fact that Democrats are not really democrats but rather boot-stomping, fascist-marching Marxists, well then, more nutjobs of the left will come to office, eventually come to the courts and soon after, the direction of America will be Venezuela. Or Cuba. Or China.

From Trump, on Truth: “America the Beautiful will NEVER be a Communist Country!!!”

With him in the White House, that promise likely holds true.

The same can’t be said for the unknowns to come — and God forbid if there’s a Democrat elected to the White House in 2028. A vote these days for a Democrat is a vote for a communist or Marxist. And since the party won’t acknowledge that, don’t expect the party to change that.

Commentary

The tentative “memorandum of understanding” with Iran has caused glee on the Left and furor among many on the Right. The Left might welcome “peace,” but surely not as much as it enjoys infighting on the Right over the details.

If last week Democrats were calling President Donald Trump a fascist warmonger, now they deride his peace efforts as those of a Neville Chamberlain patsy. Within 24 hours, the Left’s talking points shifted from a mad bomber-style Curtis LeMay in the White House to an impotent appeaser.

A week ago, some Republicans were arguing that not one of the prior seven presidents had dared to use force to stop Iran’s nuclear program. Now some of them are deriding him as an Iranian enabler.

More than 1,400 people have been confirmed dead as rescuers in Venezuela race against time to search for survivors after two powerful earthquakes struck the country this week.

Jorge Rodríguez, president of Venezuela’s National Assembly, said Saturday afternoon that the death toll had risen to 1,430.

Another 3,238 people were injured, he said, while more than 3,142 families were left homeless by the 7.2- and 7.5-magnitude earthquakes that struck Wednesday just 39 seconds apart. The country has now recorded 430 aftershocks, a factor that could complicate rescue operations.

Rodríguez said that many people are left too frightened to return home, even after inspections declared some buildings safe.
