Trump says it’s ‘treasonous’ for Democrats to claim US ‘not winning’ Iran war

President Donald Trump said on Friday it was “treasonous” of Democrats to say the United States is not winning the war with Iran.
Trump made the remark during an event at The Villages, a large community in Florida made up of retirees, while talking about the success the U.S. military has had in destroying Iran’s military.
“Think of it. Their navy’s gone. Their air force is gone. Their whole place is gone,” Trump said. “And then we get people who say that we’re not winning.
We get the radical Left to say we’re not winning.”
“It’s unbelievable,” the president continued. “It’s actually, I believe, it’s treasonous, OK? You want to know the truth, it’s treasonous.”
Before departing for Florida, Trump told the press at the White House he was unsatisfied with the latest peace offer made by Iran. The president also argued that Iran’s negotiators are disorganized, and it remains unclear who is running the country or who is able to make deals with Washington.
Despite the displeasure with Iran and its negotiators, Trump notified Congress on Friday that “hostilities” with the country have “terminated.” The declaration was made in a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA).

President Donald Trump said it might be best not to make a deal with Iran‘s leadership, and pledged not to abandon the war without completing the mission.
Speaking at an event in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump boasted of U.S. progress in the war and voiced his commitment to continuing the conflict until the job is done.
“We had to get this done, and we’re really doing well. We’re just winning,” Trump said.
“But they’re not coming through with the kind of deal that we have to have. And we’re going to get this thing done properly. We’re not going to leave early and then have the problem arise in three more years,” he added, prompting cheers.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order broadening U.S. sanctions on the Cuban government, authorizing the Treasury to block the assets of Cuban officials and their adult family members, bar them from entering the United States, and penalize foreign banks that handle their transactions.
The order extends a national emergency that Trump declared in January and is designed to cut Havana's access to the global financial system as the administration intensifies pressure on the island during a deepening economic crisis.
The order, issued under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, allows asset blocks on individuals and entities involved in Cuba's key economic sectors, government leaders, security affiliates and those responsible for serious human rights abuses or corruption connected to the regime.
It extends to adult family members of designees and suspends their entry into the United States.

Commentary
While fentanyl deaths in the United States decreased in 2025 compared to prior years, carfentanil smuggling and use are on the rise. Carfentanil is approximately 100 times more potent and deadly than fentanyl, with a nearly microscopic dose of as little as 20 micrograms potentially sufficient to kill a human.
The rise of illicit carfentanil smuggling and its links to China and terrorism raises the question of the risk of adversary states using terrorists or criminal proxies to disperse chemical or biological weapons in the United States. International criminal networks are known to be used by U.S. adversaries like China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea. Carfentanil could become their weapon of choice.
In 2016, Canadian border officials in Vancouver seized 1 kilogram of carfentanil, which they said was enough for 50 million lethal doses. The package came from China and was labeled “printer accessories.”

The United States has ordered the withdrawal of about 5,000 troops from Germany, a Pentagon spokesperson said May 1.
“This decision follows a thorough review of the Department’s force posture in Europe and is in recognition of theater requirements and conditions on the ground,” spokesman Sean Parnell told The Epoch Times.
Parnell said the withdrawal could be completed over the next six to 12 months.

This isn´t only a problem for social media companies. It is a problem for our democracy. And it is one we need to tackle.
While hundreds of journalists were sheltering in place on Saturday evening, and the entire chain of command of the United States was being raced out of the room in DC, social media platforms were having a field day.

Young people in particular get less and less of their information from traditional media. But they hoover up content online.
So why do the tech giants keep dampening real journalism while boosting fake claims and the most deranged conspiracy theories? The answer is that they make money from it. They make money from falsehoods, outrageous claims and pure nonsense.
Nobody needs to censor anyone. Yet if the social media companies keep rewarding lies and subduing the truth, there should come a day when they have to pay for it. Goodness knows they´ve gotten rich enough off it.

A Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on April 30 issued one of the strongest congressional warnings to date about China’s growing role in suspected undersea cable sabotage, with lawmakers and witnesses urging the United States and its allies to adopt a more assertive deterrence posture in both the Baltic Sea and the Indo‑Pacific.
The hearing, titled “Sabotage in the Baltic Sea: Implications for European Security and Lessons for the Indo‑Pacific,” examined a series of cable and pipeline disruptions in Northern Europe since 2022.
