Former California Mayor Pleads Guilty to Acting as Agent for China

Eileen Wang, the former mayor of Arcadia, California, pleaded guilty on May 29 to one count of acting in the United States as an illegal agent of China, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for Oct. 6, and she remains free on bond, according to the DOJ.

Wang was charged with one count of acting as an illegal agent of a foreign government. Federal prosecutors said the felony charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison.

Wang was elected to the Arcadia City Council in November 2022. The city council consists of five members, and the mayoral position rotates among them.

President Trump has sent back an amended peace plan to Iran, adding tougher language for Tehran’s nuclear commitments and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, according to reports.

The president made it clear during a Situation Room meeting with his advisers Friday that he wants to close a deal only if it meets his demands for Iran to abandon any ambition of achieving a nuclear weapon, with the issue being key to the amendments added after the session, Axios reported.

Trump is demanding that the terms of the deal be exact on how and when Iran will surrender its nearly 1,000 pounds of enriched uranium to the US, a senior administration official told the outlet.

Last week, Cal Thomas wrote an opinion piece for this newspaper titled “Americans whining over gas prices ignore Iran’s greater threat” (Web, May 26).

In his piece, Mr. Thomas argues that our country is “plagued by complainers who whine about almost everything” and that “too many [of us] appear oblivious to the threat posed by Iran, preferring cheaper gas” to doing what is necessary to stop this evil regime from killing us.

He contends that the “entitlement sentiment … has gripped so many” that when our president “asks Americans to endure higher gas prices for a short time in exchange for Iran not getting a nuclear weapon,” we respond that we would rather have cheap gas today.

President Donald Trump was listed in “excellent health” after his annual medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, according to a White House memo released on May 29.

The 79-year-old president demonstrated strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function during his test.

“Cognitive and physical performance are excellent,” Dr. Sean Barbabella, physician to the president, wrote. “He is fully fit to carry out all duties of the commander-in-chief and head of state.”

Barbabella noted that Trump continued to have “slight lower leg swelling,” but he has improved from last year, after the president was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency in the summer of 2025.

Dems Have One Last Plan for Midterm Victory, but It Won't Work

Democrats can't seem to help painting themselves into a corner. Their deep hatred of President Donald Trump makes it impossible for them to agree with him on any issue, no matter how reasonable it may be.

As a result, poll after poll shows Democrats losing ground with the voting public. Add to that the fact that the GOP gained a small advantage over Democrats in the redistricting wars leading up to the midterms, and they have a real problem.

Now it looks as though they’re desperately turning to one final game plan, one with which they’re already familiar — cheating.

And that willingness to reject the will of the people in order to gain political power goes all the way up to the top.

In a recent Napolitan Institute/RMG Research survey, 35% of respondents that the pollsters identified as the "Elite 1%" of Democrats, said they supported the use of cheating in order to win elections, Just The News reported.

This group is identified as "people who live in very densely populated urban areas, make a lot of money, and have at least one post-graduate degree."

That 35% is in stark contrast to the 7% of the general public who said they were fine with their party cheating to win.

Among what the survey classified as "politically active elites," those who talk politics every day, support for election cheating rose to 69%.

Pollster Scott Rasmussen commented on these results in a USA Today column.

"These attitudes reveal an elitist revolt against the nation's founding principles," Rasmussen said. "A growing faction within America’s leadership class increasingly believes it is better suited to rule than the public itself."

The decade-long deep Trump hatred prompting their "win-at-all-costs" attitude isn’t lost on party leaders and strategists.

"Trump is the best base mobilizer for Democrats right now," said Democratic strategist Joel Payne, who added that such negative campaigning has its limits.

"But I think there is a broad understanding that the clock is ticking on how much longer Democrats can rely on polarization because of Trump to galvanize our voters."

The Trump hatred prompted numerous voting irregularities in battleground states during the 2020 presidential election, favoring Democratic nominee Joe Biden, and legacy media outlets largely turned a blind eye to the alleged fraud.

But while Democrats' contempt has, if anything, intensified, their success was short-lived. Despite Trump's 2020 loss, he came roaring back four years later, taking home every battleground state and winning the popular vote.

Republicans also captured both chambers of Congress, and so far it looks as though they may be able to maintain that control. Now they’re trying to close all the loopholes that led to the 2020 disaster.

While Senate Republican leadership has kept the SAVE America Act in congressional limbo, the administration is doing what it can with presidential executive orders (EOs).

On Thursday a federal district court judge sitting in Washington, D.C. paved the way for the administration to implement its EO to check the citizenship of people listed on state voter rolls.

The order, signed by U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols, also cleared the administration's efforts to tighten mail-in voting, another source of voter fraud.

Meanwhile, last week Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon notified the Maryland State Board of Elections that she was investigating its wrongful distribution of 500,000 mail-in ballots for this year’s primary election.

"It's the wrong time to send voters the wrong ballots," Dhillon, who oversees the DOJ Civil Rights Division warned. "This Justice Department's Office of Civil Rights will not let Maryland's mail-in ballot mistakes go unnoticed!"

In addition, at least one nonprofit organization is getting involved.

Washington, D.C.-based Judicial Watch announced Thursday that "it filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of a California political candidate and a state political party against the State of California due to its failure to maintain accurate voter rolls as required by the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA)."

Judicial Watch reported that the state voter rolls included approximately 873,000 inactive voters, those who had moved or died.

The late legendary NFL football coach Vince Lombardi believed that success requires the sort of hard work now being performed on behalf of the administration, and remarked that "winners never quit, and quitters never win."

The 1960s and 1970s pop-soul singing group Love Committee observed that this rule also applies to cheaters with their hit song "Cheaters Never Win."

And Democrats will discover in November that while cheaters may come out ahead for a brief period, they'll fail in the long run.

The U.S. will prevent China from dominating the Indo-Pacific by enhancing military power and increasing backing from regional allies but with less confrontational rhetoric, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said in a major speech Saturday.

Mr. Hegseth also told reporters in Singapore at a defense leaders’ conference that U.S. policy toward Taiwan remains unchanged but sidestepped questions about whether U.S. arms sales to the island are being held up to curry favor with China.

Increased U.S. dialogue with Chinese officials and military-to-military discussions also will seek to promote “clarity” of U.S. intentions and reduce the risk of conflict, the secretary said at the annual Shangri-La Dialogue.

Longtime political analyst Dick Morris told Newsmax that Texas is "clearly red and going to stay that way," predicting Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico cannot overtake Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton no matter how much money national Democrats pour into the race.

Morris, an author and adviser to Donald Trump, spoke after "Saturday Report" aired clips from a pro-Paxton ad spotlighting Talarico's past remarks on gender and religion.

The video featured Talarico saying God is "non-binary" and that there are six biological sexes, lines he delivered on the Texas House floor in 2021 opposing a bill restricting transgender athletes. 

Asked whether Texans would rally to Talarico, Morris was flat.

"It is not going to flip. It's not close to flipping," he said, calling this "the third or the fourth Texas race I've been involved in as a commentator" and adding that he "used to run Ted Cruz's campaign." 

Democratic spending in Texas, Morris said, only helps Republicans on the wider map.

"The more money the Democrats put into Texas to defend Texas," he said, "they don't have seats anywhere else they can defend with that money." Talarico, he added, "is not going to change that."

The United States unveiled a partnership with Australia and the United Kingdom to develop unmanned and underwater drones by 2027.

U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced the plan at the AUKUS Defense Ministers meeting, which was held at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore on May 30.

“The signature project will deliver a suite of highly adaptable multi-mission [nmanned underwater vehicle] payloads designed to support undersea operations and maintain our collective advantage in the maritime domain,” Hegseth shared during a press conference on Saturday.

The U.S. Navy has warned commercial shipping that “dangerous military activities” will take place in and around the Strait of Hormuz, cautioning that vessels suspected of supporting mine-laying operations could be targeted and that the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports remains in force.

The warning was issued May 29 by U.S. Naval Forces Central Command through the Joint Maritime Information Center and shared with shipping operators via the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations office. It comes as Washington and Tehran continue negotiations over a possible agreement to extend a fragile ceasefire and prevent a resumption of war.

“The maritime security threat level in the [Strait of Hormuz] remains critical due to ongoing military conflict,” said the advisory, which was issued on the same day that President Donald Trump called for the narrow shipping lane connecting the Persian Gulf to global markets to be “immediately open” and that any mines set in the strait by Iranian forces must be “terminated.”

Inflation spikes will be temporary

Everyone is worried about the impact of the Iranian war on energy prices. But even at the height of the conflict, the price of a barrel of oil rose to $112, still less than the $117 per barrel registered in 2022. Currently, it’s around $90.

The recent rise in the Producer Price Index to a 6% annual rate caused concern. But that increase was, again, mainly due to short-term energy-related spikes that have had a broad impact on products ranging from processed goods to chemicals. People worry about energy supplies. But that shouldn’t be a long-term worry, even if the war escalates.

“Non-Gulf energy producers also are pumping more,” Ken Fischer, an investment and market analyst, wrote this past week. “April U.S. oil exports hit an all-time record. Venezuela is ramping up shipping. Countries reliant on Qatari natural gas— like South Korea and Italy — are buying more from America and Australia. Asian nations are refiring coal power plants. Shortages will be short-lived.”

Japan and the Philippines deepened security ties during President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s state visit to Tokyo, calling for peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, placing cross-strait stability inside a broader statement on maritime security, defense cooperation, and regional order.

The joint statement followed a May 28 summit between Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Marcos, who visited Japan as the two countries marked 70 years of diplomatic relations. The leaders decided to elevate bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, according to Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The two leaders also emphasized the importance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and encouraged a peaceful resolution of cross-Strait issues through dialogue,” the joint statement said.

WASHINGTON — One of the final sticking points standing in the way of a tentative US-Iran peace deal is the phased unfreezing of funds held by Qatar and intended for humanitarian purposes, The Post has learned.

President Trump and Iranian negotiators are haggling over the final details of a memorandum of understanding that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping while giving additional time for a second round of talks on the fate of roughly 1,000 pounds of highly enriched uranium.

The funds in question would not be directly provided to Iran, but would be used to purchase food and medical supplies, which are then sent to the war-torn nation.

New York Attorney General Letitia James was accused by her GOP challenger Friday of misusing a whopping $20 million to hire outside lawyers to do her office’s work.

The claims from Republican AG candidate Saritha Komatireddy, a former federal prosecutor, came as state Democrats quietly expanded the scope of a $10 million legal defense fund, set up last year to help their embattled comrades like James.

“The $10 million legal defense fund set aside for Letitia James’s personal legal troubles is an insult to hardworking taxpayers who are already struggling with the highest costs in the nation,” Komatireddy railed in a statement to The Post.

Rep. John McGuire, R-Va., told Newsmax on Friday that Iran still possesses enough enriched uranium to build 11 nuclear bombs and defended President Donald Trump's ongoing negotiations with Tehran as the administration pushes for a 60-day ceasefire and a broader nuclear agreement.

Appearing on "National Report," McGuire said he trusts Trump's leadership despite continued concerns about Iran's nuclear capabilities and the regime's history of supporting terrorism.

"I trust President Trump," McGuire said. "He's got a backbone of all the presidents in my lifetime. He actually has the fortitude to stop this number one state sponsor of terror."

The Virginia Republican, who serves on the House Armed Services Committee, said he remains skeptical of Iran's intentions despite ongoing diplomatic talks.

"I just do not trust this regime," McGuire said. "But I think [Secretary of State] Marco Rubio and [Vice President] JD Vance and the rest of the administration is working hard. But again, it goes up to President Trump."

Amid reports that U.S. and Iranian negotiators reached a tentative agreement to extend the current ceasefire, former Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert Wilkie, in a Friday interview on Newsmax, warned that Tehran cannot be trusted.

Appearing on Newsmax's "Wake Up America," Wilkie said the Islamic Republic has a long history of violating international commitments and is likely using negotiations to buy time as it seeks to preserve the regime.

"There's no paper that they've ever signed that is worth the paper it's written on," Wilkie said.

During their early summit meeting in Beijing on May 14, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Xi Jinping introduced to President Donald Trump a new Chinese diplomatic euphemism, or doublespeak phrase, that appears reassuring but, in reality, masks the CCP’s longstanding ambition to dominate the United States and suppress freedom.

On that day, the Chinese side was quick to release its readout of that meeting in its usual effort to dominate the news cycle; as reported by Chinese state media Xinhua:

“Xi Jinping emphasized that China is committed to the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China-US relations. He stated that he and President Trump agreed to establish a ‘constructive strategic and stable relationship between China and the US’ as a new positioning for China-US relations, which will provide strategic guidance for China-US relations for the next three years and beyond.”

That same day, Xinhua was also quick to provide the first definition of “constructive strategic stability,” citing Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Guo Jiakun saying:

U.S. military forces redirected 111 ships heading to and from Iranian ports to enforce a weeks-long blockade of Iran, officials said on Thursday, coming as U.S. officials confirmed an extension of a 60-day ceasefire.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees military operations in the Middle East, wrote in a post on X that it has enforced the blockade that has seen 111 ships be redirected or turned back since mid-April.

There are “more than 20 U.S. warships currently enforcing the blockade against Iran,” CENTCOM said, adding that “U.S. forces have now redirected 111 commercial vessels to ensure compliance.”

As we reported, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has reportedly been reached by negotiators between Iran and the U.S., but it hasn't been approved by President Donald Trump. We'll keep you apprised on that, but so far, the White House hasn't confirmed anything.

Iran was trying to float a fake MOU that the White House had called out the day before, but this new report was allegedly based on U.S. officials and not Iran.

U.S. military personnel in the Middle East are at risk of being surveilled and targeted through the geolocation data on their smartphones, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) recently notified lawmakers. 

“USCENTCOM has received multiple threat reports concerning adversary exploitation of commercial location data to target or surveil U.S. personnel in theater,” CENTCOM said in a letter it shared with Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) on April 14, and which Reuters first reported on May 28.

The disclosure to Wyden came in the days after the United States and Iran concluded 38 days of direct large-scale combat with what remains to be a fragile ceasefire. Since those hostilities with Iran began on Feb. 28, 13 U.S. military personnel have been killed, and hundreds more have been injured.

A former CIA official is accused of stealing more than $40 million in gold bars and stashing them inside his Virginia home, prosecutors said.

Court records show that David J. Rush, who was a senior CIA official with a top-secret clearance, also hoarded $2 million in cash in a storage unit near his residence and had 35 luxury watches, mostly Rolexes, in his possession when the FBI conducted a raid on May 18.

Mr. Rush faces charges of criminal theft of public money for a scheme that authorities said started in November. He is scheduled to appear in federal court in Virginia on Friday.

Savor Our Victory Over the Establishment

As we survey the smoldering wreckage left in the wake of Donzilla, who has treated the Treachery Caucus of the Republican Party like a kaiju treats Tokyo, we should smile in satisfaction at a job well done. We destroyed the old Republican Party, and from the ashes something new has risen—something that fights. We are no longer sober managers of decline, outlasted and outgunned reactionaries trying to stand athwart history yelling “Stop!” in high-pitched, girlish voices. We’re now brawlers and battlers, no longer constrained by unilateral norms or guardrails that serve only to limit our ability to pursue our own interests. You can tell how much our enemies hate it because the Democrats cry about how we’re no longer like Ronald Reagan. Well, I was there when they were crying about how we were no longer like Ike. You are truly blessed if you find someone to love you like Democrats love a long-dead Republican.

Sure, there remains some work to do—bye-bye, Lisa Murkowski—but don’t let anyone tell you the Republican Party hasn’t changed for the better. As frustrating and annoying as the process is, our pols are a hell of a lot better than they used to be. And the quality continues to improve, as President Trump’s recent acts of political hygiene demonstrate:

Thomas Massie? He’s been punted into oblivion, and no, it wasn’t the fault of the Jews, the Epstein cabal, the Trilateral Commission, or the saucer people.

Thom Tillis? That tool didn’t even bother running because he knew he was going to get primaried after years of tofu-spined obstruction of our agenda.

Mitch McConnell? Time has taken him out, not Trump, but he was a pain in our collective backside, and Trump helped marginalize him. We must credit Cocaine Mitch for saving the Supreme Court, but it’s time to go.

Bill Cassidy? The doctor is out. That’s what you get for joining the Democrats to impeach our president.

John Cornyn? Hey, I hope collaborating with the Democrats on gun control—I’m still trying to figure out why any sane Republican would ever collaborate with the Democrats on gun control—was worth the humiliation of being rejected by your own state. Promising amnesty to Dreamers didn’t help—turns out the Republican base has a dream, too: a dream of an America where foreigners who shouldn’t be here are required to follow the law just like us American citizens.

Pam Bondi Confirms She Was Diagnosed With Thyroid Cancer, Had Surgery

Former Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed on May 27 that she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and is seeking treatment for the illness.

Bondi confirmed to CNN that she was diagnosed with cancer and had surgery for it several weeks ago. Currently, she is “doing well” in her recovery, she told the outlet.

It’s not clear how far the cancer progressed or whether she is receiving chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or another form of cancer treatment other than surgery. According to U.S. health officials, thyroid cancer has a high survivability rate, at 98.3 percent over five years.

In April, Bondi was removed as attorney general by President Donald Trump, who said that she would be focusing on working in the private sector. The president named Todd Blanche, his former personal lawyer and the deputy attorney general before Bondi’s departure, as the interim attorney general.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Wednesday that the United States has secured agreements with 20 countries to accept migrants living in the U.S. illegally who refuse to return to their home nations, describing the deals as a key part of the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement strategy.

Rubio said the agreements allow the United States to deport certain illegal aliens to so-called “safe” third countries when returning them directly to their countries of origin is not possible.

“A part of securing our border is dealing with the people that are in this country unlawfully, many of whom do not want to go back to the country that they originally came from,” Rubio said during a Cabinet meeting at the White House.

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who led the Labour Party to three election victories, said the government should repair its relationship with the United States rather than look to rejoin the European Union.

Blair, who remains a deeply divisive figure within the party, published an essay on Tuesday amid a crisis engulfing Prime Minister Keir Starmer, with a leadership challenge widely expected by September.

The influential former premier, who took the UK into the Iraq War in 2003 based on what an official UK inquiry later concluded was faulty intelligence, wrote that Starmer should not have prevented Washington from using British bases in the United States and Israel’s ongoing war with Iran.

“The initial request was simply for the use of our military bases for the refuelling of American planes. I understand the reasons for refusal but it’s not the best way to treat our ally,” Blair wrote, arguing this decision had made the UK’s partnership with the United States “weaker.”
