Uber Paid Hackers to Keep Massive Cyberattack Quiet
Hackers stole the personal data of 57 million customers and drivers from Uber Technologies Inc., a massive breach that the company concealed for more than a year. This week, the ride-hailing firm ousted its chief security officer and one of his deputies for their roles in keeping the hack under wraps, which included a $100,000 payment to the attackers.

The NFL ratings slump is getting worse

The TV audience for NFL games steepened its slide in Week 11, losing 1 million viewers versus last year’s season-to-date average.
The 6.3 percent slump — worsening from comparable declines of 5.6 to 5.7 percent during the previous three weeks — plagued a week whose off-the-field drama made gridiron tackling seem almost tame by comparison.

The Democratic Party Is Dead

For years, we have been hearing that the Republican Party was on the ropes: when Bill Clinton won in 1992 and 1996; when Barack Obama won in 2008 and 2012; when the tea party launched in 2009; when Texas Senator Ted Cruz and company shut down the federal government for a few days in 2013. (Remember when we were told that voters were going to "punish" Republicans in 2014? Yeah, that was right before they handed the GOP control of the House and Senate.) When Donald Trump roared into the primaries in 2015 and knocked out his more -- shall we say -- traditional GOP rivals one by one, and even (perhaps especially) since Donald Trump's election, the media's go-to narrative has been how the Republican Party is fragmented and crumbling.
Now we know that it's the Democratic Party that's rotting from within.
This isn't about the staggering loss of seats in state governments. It's about the sex scandals that have enveloped Hollywood -- and now the media and Washington. What's even more shocking than the reprehensible conduct itself is how intimately entwined these scandals are with the Democratic Party's politics, its operatives and their tactics.

Shut down the politicians’ sex-scandal hush funds

Republicans and Democrats in Washington are vying to appear more outraged by sexual harassment on Capitol Hill. Don’t be fooled. Groping, suggestive remarks and quid pro quos are business-as-usual on the Hill, thanks to a cover-up scheme devised by Congress itself using taxpayer dollars.
The real scandal is that we, the people, pay the settlement costs and legal fees when members of Congress get caught with their pants down.
On Monday, BuzzFeed reported that in 2015, Michigan Rep. John Conyers, top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee and the longest-serving current House member, used taxpayer funds to settle a complaint from a staff member about unwanted sexual advances. The $27,000 was paid in exchange for a confidentiality agreement. On Tuesday, Conyers denied harassing anyone, but acknowledged the settlement.

Lois Lerner, the woman who retired early with a fully taxpayer funded pension after she admitted using the IRS to improperly target tea party groups because they were conservative, is concerned about what might happen when Americans find out the extent of her behavior.
Naturally Lerner, who plead the Fifth when asked to testify in front of Congress about her role at the IRS, wants federal court testimony sealed forever. Her attorneys argue the exposure of what she admitted in that testimony would prompt death threats.

President Trump’s critics are arguing that GOP calls for the Justice Department to investigate Hillary Clinton and Democrats’ ties to Russia are an effort to distract from the real Russia investigation, into potential Trump-Russia collusion.
No, they are not.
Ever since Watergate, the mantra of all major corruption investigations has been to “follow the money.” Well, Americans of all political stripes should be outraged by the fact that both Democrats and Republicans in Washington are up to their eyeballs in Kremlin cash. Russian money found its way into the pockets of not only Trump advisers like Paul Manafort and Rick Gates — who were recently indicted by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III — but also Democratic power lobbyist Tony Podesta, Bill Clinton and the Clinton Foundation.

None of the women knew anyone who had voted for Trump and regretted it, and Pistilli said she has even met several women who voted for Hillary Clinton but now wish they had voted for Trump.
None of this is to ignore the fact that Trump’s overall approval rating remains dismally low. According to Gallup, the president’s approval ratings started at 45 percent and has declined to 38 percent, a 7-point decline that translates into millions of disappointed people. But to most of his supporters, including women, Trump is performing exactly as expected. As one of my focus group participants put it to me when I asked her what advice she’d give to Trump, “Stay strong, and continue doing what you’re doing.”

The North Korean soldier who was shot multiple times fleeing into South Korea at the border has regained consciousness, according to South Korean reports.
“Is this actually South Korea? I want to hear South Korean songs,” the man said after waking up in a South Korean medical facility, presumably curious as to whether or not he made it to the South, the JoongAng Daily introduced. The medical staff hung the South Korean flag in the man’s hospital room to comfort him, Yonhap News Agency revealed.
