At Least 5 Dead as Amazon Cargo Aircraft Overruns Runway at Miami Airport

Miami mayor said five other people were injured.

An Amazon cargo plane went off a runway at Miami International Airport on Sept. 6, hitting multiple vehicles and leaving at least five people dead.

Miami Mayor Eileen Higgins said in a news conference that five more people are injured.

“Tonight our entire community is joined in prayers and grieving for those who are affected,” she said.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement that “21 Air Flight 7598 overran the runway after landing at Miami International Airport around 2 p.m. local time.”

The Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft left Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, it stated. The agency is currently investigating the matter.
