Netanyahu's Likud Bloc Leads in New Poll, Shows Momentum Ahead of Election

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Likud party are showing signs of renewed political strength ahead of Israel's Oct. 27 election, with recent polling indicating that the longtime leader's broader right-wing bloc has gained ground on the opposition.

A new survey published by Israel’s Kan public broadcaster showed that parties supporting Netanyahu are projected to win 52 seats in the 120-member Knesset, compared with 51 for the opposition bloc.

Arab parties were projected to receive 13 seats, while a newly formed, non-aligned party would receive four.

The poll was conducted by Kantar among 551 respondents and had a 4.2 percentage-point margin of error.

The result represents a notable change after months in which Netanyahu’s political camp generally trailed its opponents.
