AG Blanche to Newsmax: US Remains Vigilant Against Terror Attacks

Attorney General Todd Blanche told Newsmax on Friday that the Justice Department is working every day to prevent terrorist attacks while continuing to ensure the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks are compensated.
"The 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund has given out almost $19 billion since it started to not only the first responders and the families of those who died, but other folks who have had devastating health effects from 9/11 in Lower Manhattan," Blanche said on "The Record with Greta Van Susteren." "We say all the time, never forget."
"We have worked hard to expedite them and get those resolved and get the money out to victims," Blanche said, noting they paid out billions of dollars last year.
"It's going to continue to support to provide financial support to the victims and their families for as long as the future goes," Blanche added. "That's something that we owe to the great citizens of this country."
Since Sept. 11, Blanche said terrorist threats have not stopped. He said the Department of Justice, the FBI, the CIA, the military and the Department of Homeland Security work diligently to keep America safe.
"We've stopped dozens and dozens of potential terrorist attacks at various stages," Blanche said. "That's us remaining vigilant. That's [FBI] Director Patel, that's the secretary of war, that's the president staying vigilant, making sure that we don't drop our guard down.
"This isn't something that's going to stop. They want us because of the great offer of democracy that we give to our citizens. And unfortunately, that's not going to change. But neither will our resolve."
Blanche noted they've prevented terrorist attacks in Michigan and at the recent UFC event at the White House.
"That's something that we do every day," Blanche said, noting he gets calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week, often in the middle of the night.
"We are constantly on the phone about not only potential terrorist attacks and threats to our nation and what our military is doing but also making sure that we're doing everything we should be doing," Blanche added.
