Experts: Fox Pivots Away From Trump With Bartiromo Ouster

Fox News' abrupt removal of Maria Bartiromo raised a question in the media: Was the ouster of one of President Donald Trump's strongest television allies simply a personnel dispute — or an early sign Fox is preparing for a post-Trump Republican Party in 2028?

CNN Chief Media Analyst Brian Stelter and Mediaite Senior Editor Alex Griffing both see Bartiromo's extraordinary exit as evidence that Fox's loyalty to Trump has limits.

Griffing said the episode suggested Trump's dominance of conservative media may be beginning to weaken. 

Fox announced without warning that she was "no longer with Fox." 

Bartiromo received no farewell broadcast, and her shows were immediately renamed or reassigned. Her biography also disappeared from Fox's website.

Stelter said there were "all the signs here of a firing, of a very contentious breakup," comparing the circumstances to Tucker Carlson's sudden 2023 removal.

Bartiromo's dispute reportedly involved Trump. CNN reported that Fox management concluded Bartiromo violated her employment agreement by sharing internal editorial guidance with White House officials after the network directed programs not to pursue some of Trump's claims involving China and the 2020 election.
