Media furor over Trump's tweet
A fundamental and tragic fact of life in America today is that whatever President Trump is for, most media and half the country instantly reject. Even when he’s clearly right, the zombie-like resistance leaps into frenetic opposition.
Take the case of universal mail-in voting.
Trump insists that the plans of some states, such as California and Colorado, to counter the pandemic by mailing a ballot to every registered voter is a formula for disaster. It will, the president says, guarantee mayhem and cast doubts on the November results.

Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., praised President Trump's proposed ban of social media phenomenon TikTok on Sunday, warning "Fox & Friends" viewers that " your data, [and] your kids' data" could end up "in the hands of the Chinese" if the White House fails to intervene.
"TikTok is from China. Any company that’s in China, over 50 percent of it is owned by the Chinese Communist Party," Nunes said. "So, If you want your data, your kids' data, all of that information to end up in the hands of the Chinese..."

Does Anyone Have the Courage to Indict Obama?

I recently watched a documentary about how the U.S. government finally took down the mob (aka the Mafia). For decades, the U.S. government failed miserably. Why? Because it could only catch low-level "soldiers" in the act of a crime but never the mob boss (aka The Don).
But something changed in the late 1980s. The government applied the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, or RICO Act, to the Mafia. It proved the mob acted as a "family." And when the head of the family gave an order, he was as guilty as the "soldier" who carried it out. This allowed the government to destroy the Mafia.
Suddenly, a light bulb went off. I realized this is exactly how to indict, convict and send former President Barack Obama to prison.
I believe Obama is the biggest criminal in the history of the United States. RICO is how we get Don Obama. He was the head of a family just like the Mafia. Call it the Obama Crime Family.
Attorney General William Barr and U.S. Attorney Durham are playing in the minor leagues. They are going after the "soldiers" of the Obama criminal family. But they should be targeting the head of the snake: Obama. He gave all the orders. He oversaw and coordinated all the crime, extortion, theft, fraud and lies. And, of course, the biggest crime of all: spying. Some might call that treason.

Massive wildfire raging east of Los Angeles
Nearly 8,000 people had to evacuate their homes due to the massive wildfire in California.
Thousands of people in Southern California are under evacuation orders on Sunday after a wildfire exploded in size, destroying at least one home.
The Riverside County Fire Department said the blaze, known as the Apple Fire, has scorched about 20,516 acres and is at zero percent containment as it burns in an area straddling Riverside and San Bernardino counties in the mountains east of Los Angeles.
The blaze grew by more than 13,000 acres in less than a day as it burned through dry brush and timber.

SpaceX Crew Dragon splashdown
NASA astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken splashed down in the Gulf of Mexico in a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft Sunday, ending a historic two-month trip to space.
The mission marked the first time that astronauts have launched from American soil since the final Space Shuttle flight in 2011.
After deploying two drogue parachutes and then the capsule’s main parachutes, the spacecraft landed off the coast of Pensacola, Fla., at 2:48 p.m. EDT.

President Trump announces plan to ban TikTok in US
The popular video sharing app TikTok is owned by a Chinese company and the Trump administration has expressed concerns it could be a tool for Chinese intelligence; Lucas Tomlinson reports.
Microsoft Corp. has paused negotiations to buy the U.S. operations of the video-sharing app TikTok after President Trump said late Friday he opposed the deal, according to people familiar with the matter.
The president’s statements spurred TikTok to make additional concessions, including agreeing to add as many as 10,000 jobs in the U.S. over the next three years, but it isn’t clear if those will alter Mr. Trump’s stance, one of the people said.
The founder of TikTok parent Bytedance Ltd., Zhang Yiming, also agreed to sell his stake as part of any deal, the person said.
Mr. Zhang was going to retain a minority stake under the deal being discussed before Mr. Trump’s remarks, the person said.
TRUMP SAYS HE PLANS TO BAN TIKTOK FROM US
The software giant was in advanced talks with Bytedance, gaining momentum toward a deal they believed met the White House goal for the popular app to get bought by a U.S. company, the people said. Those plans were interrupted when Mr. Trump told reporters on Air Force One that he preferred to ban the app and wouldn’t support a sale.
Before Mr. Trump’s remarks, the two sides believed the broad strokes of a deal could be in place by Monday, the people said.

As I contended in “Ball of Collusion,” my book on the Trump-Russia investigation, the target of the probe spearheaded by the FBI — but greenlighted by the Obama White House, and abetted by the Justice Department and U.S. intelligence agencies — was Donald Trump.
Not the Trump campaign, not the Trump administration. Those were of interest only insofar as they were vehicles for Trump himself. The campaign, which the bureau and its apologists risibly claim was the focus of the investigation, would have been of no interest to them were it not for Trump.
Or do you suppose they moved heaven and earth, surreptitiously plotted in the Oval Office, wrote CYA memos to cover their tracks, and laboriously sculpted FBI reports because they were hoping to nail . . . George Papadopoulos?

In collusion with the Clinton campaign, and with the complicity of national security officials who transitioned into the Trump administration, the Obama White House deployed the FBI to undermine the new president, dually using official investigative tactics (e.g. FISA surveillance, confidential informants, covert interrogations) and lawless classified leaks — the latter publicized by dependable journalists who were (and remain) politically invested in unseating Trump.
Now the paper trail is finally catching up with what some of us analysts long ago surmised based on the limited information previously available.

You don’t like Donald Trump? Fine. The investigation here was indeed about Donald Trump. But the scandal is about how abusive officials can exploit their awesome powers against any political opponent.
And the people who authorized this political spying will be right back in business if, come November, Obama’s vice president is elected president — notwithstanding that he’s yet to be asked serious questions about it.

MacKenzie Scott, the fourth-richest woman in the world, announced on Tuesday that she has dropped Bezos from her name and donated $1.7 billion to 119 nonprofits, with an emphasis on racial equality, marginalized groups and economic mobility.
Meanwhile, her ex-husband, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos — who publicly left MacKenzie for her close friend Lauren Sanchez — spent the week dropping $10 million on an LA home, just near the $165 million mansion he bought from David Geffen. On Friday, Amazon posted a second-quarter profit of $5.2 billion, the biggest in its 26-year-history, due to a pandemic that is otherwise ravaging the economy.
Days earlier, Bezos testified before Congress in an antitrust hearing, seeking to downplay Amazon’s global dominance while casually snacking on camera.

Satellite photos appear to show China massing troops and equipment on its mountainous border with India following a violent clash last month – despite promises to de escalate the conflict.
Indian media is citing defence sources – backed up by commercially available imagery – as saying “a large concentration” of troops and equipment is being assembled in the Akasi Chin region of occupied Tibet.
It was here in May that a bloody battle with iron bars and batons between border troops resulted in the deaths of about 20 Indians and an unspecified number of Chinese.
Tensions remain high despite both sides agreeing to retreat to previously occupied areas.
But Indian news service The Print says the new troop movements are “making the Indian Army cautious about the disengagement process”.
