Politifact’s Lame Attempt To Rescue Dr. Birx

Just when you think you’ve caught them in a lie so big that even they can’t squirm their way out of it, the Covid Media Complex inevitably finds a way to muddy the waters enough to keep their narrative going. Such was the case when Dr. Deborah Birx said earlier this month that she was aware early on that the Covid vaccines “were not going to protect against infection.” She also, while claiming they still protect against severe illness and death, astonishingly admitted that the vaccines had been “overplayed” in the fight against Covid. Here’s the relevant quote:
“I knew these vaccines were not going to protect against infection,” Birx told Fox News host Neil Cavuto. “And I think we overplayed the vaccines, and it made people then worry that it's not going to protect against severe disease and hospitalization. It will. But let's be very clear: 50% of the people who died from the Omicron surge were older, vaccinated.”

OPINION:
In Washington, things are rarely what they seem. It’s why Congress labels bills with names they think will be more palatable to the public rather than a name that would accurately reflect the content of the legislation. Notice how many times over the years the word “civil rights” has appeared in legislation that often has had little or nothing to do with civil rights.
Now Democrats have junked the original title of President Biden’s “Build Back Better” massive spending plan and rebranded it “The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.” Clearly, this was in reaction to poll numbers showing the public blames the president and Democrats for the rise in food and gas prices, increased mortgage rates and so much else.
It appears the name change and some behind-the-scenes bargaining were enough for Sen. Joe Manchin to end his opposition to the original bill, which he used to say would add significantly to the debt and not produce the results claimed by the administration.

Entire Biden economic team needs to be replaced

OPINION:
What is a recession? Who is to say? What is an economist, and who is to say? For many years after completing my graduate education, I called myself an economist with a certain pride — but these days not so much. I thought I was following in the footsteps of many great thinkers, starting with Adam Smith who fathered the field with his great book, “The Wealth of Nations” (1776), followed by people like David Ricardo, John Stuart Mill, Frederic Bastiat, Alfred Marshall, up to the modern era with Milton Friedman, F.A. Hayek and many others.
Rather than continuing to advance knowledge, many of the better-known economists seem to have forgotten the fundamentals, which is causing them to say idiotic or “woke” things and, worse yet, convince political airheads like President Biden to follow disastrous policies.
Fortunately, we are blessed with many funny, yet solid, thinkers outside the world of academic economics. One of those is Bill Frezza, an MIT-trained electrical engineer, successful venture capitalist and policy wonk. Back in 2012, he wrote a classic article for Forbes, asking: “Why do we allow economists to formulate economic policy?”
