Trump says Schiff's parody of the Ukraine transcript should be 'treasonous'
President Trump calls for Rep. Adam Schiff's resignation after he read a parody version of the Trump-Ukraine call transcript during his opening statement before the House Intelligence Committee.
In my weekend column, I observed the media-Democrat complex’s politicized reporting of the July 25 conversation between President Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart:
Trump detractors hyper-focus on the president’s request that President [Volodymyr] Zelensky provide Attorney General [William] Barr with any information Ukraine might have about [former Vice President Joe] Biden twisting arms to quash an investigation involving his son’s cashing in on dad’s influence. I say “hyper-focus” because there was a lot more to it than that. Long before the conversation came around to the Biden topic, the "favor" that Trump asked for was Zelensky’s assistance in Barr’s ongoing investigation of the genesis of the Trump-Russia investigation.

Virtually all mainstream-media reporting and Democratic commentary on the conversation now fits this pattern. It is noted that Trump, immediately after the “quid pro quo” set-up — “I would like you to do us a favor though” — invoked the attorney general, the nation’s top federal law-enforcement official. Studiously omitted is the context of this invocation: a wholly appropriate request by the president, to the head of state of a country in possession of relevant evidence, for cooperation with a legitimate investigation being conducted by our country’s Justice Department.

Ukraine controversy brings focus to Hunter Biden's background
New questions over Ukraine dealings by former Vice President Joe Biden's son; Mark Meredith reports from Washington.
The fired prosecutor at the center of the Ukraine controversy said during a private interview with President Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani earlier this year that he was told to back off an investigation into a natural gas firm that was linked to Joe Biden’s son, according to details of that interview that were handed over to Congress by the State Department’s inspector general Wednesday.
Fox News obtained a copy of Giuliani’s notes from his January 2019 interview with fired Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin in which he claimed that his “investigations stopped out of fear of the United States.”
“Mr. Shokin attempted to continue the investigations but on or around June or July of 2015, the U.S. Ambassador Geoffrey R. Pyatt told him that the investigation has to be handled with white gloves, which according to Mr. Shokin, that implied do nothing,” the notes from the interview stated.

Shokin was fired in April 2016, and his case was “closed by the current Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko,” according to the notes. Despite his claims, Shokin, on both sides of the Atlantic, had been widely accused of corruption.
Biden, who has been seeking to unseat President Trump in 2020, once famously boasted on camera that when he was vice president and spearheading the Obama administration’s Ukraine policy, he successfully pressured Ukraine to fire Shokin, who was the top prosecutor at the time, investigating Burisma Holdings, where Hunter had a lucrative role on the board.

Speaking during a meeting with Finnish President Sauli Niinistö in the Oval Office Wednesday afternoon, President Trump called for House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff to not only "resign in disgrace," but argued he should be investigated for treason.
"He made up my conversation. He actually made it up. It should be criminal. It should be treasonous. He made it up, every word of it, and read to Congress as if I said it. And I'll tell you what, he should be forced to resign from Congress. Adam Schiff, he's a low life. He should be forced to resign," Trump said. "He took that conversation, which was perfect, he said, 'I can't read this,' so he made up a conversation and he reported it and said it to Congress and the American people."

New York Times quietly deletes claim the NRA sought a quid pro quo from the White House

You probably missed it when it happened last week. This is likely by design.
The New York Times on Sept. 27 quietly amended a report that originally claimed embattled National Rifle Association Chief Executive Wayne LaPierre had discussed bankrolling President Trump’s impeachment defense in return for assurances the White House would back off gun-control legislation.
All language alleging a possible quid pro quo between the president and the NRA has since been removed from the Times report. There is no editor’s note highlighting the change.

When Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. was a Harvard undergraduate, he wrote an essay criticizing Plato as “loose and unscientific” and sent it to his intellectual hero, Ralph Waldo Emerson, who promptly set him straight. “I have read your piece,” Emerson replied. “When you strike at a king, you must kill him.”
While it is too early to gauge how likely impeachment-minded Democrats are to meet Emerson’s test, the early signs aren’t encouraging.

Trump holds joint news conference with Finnish President Sauli Niinisto as House Democrats ramp up impeachment push.
I have introduced a motion in the House of Representatives to censure Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., because he has disqualified himself to lead any impeachment proceedings against President Trump by his outrageous statements and conduct, and deserves no sympathy.
While Trump-hating House Democrats are backing Schiff in partisan solidarity, anyone taking a fair look at his actions over the past two years must conclude that he is unfit to lead the Democrats’ never-ending pursuit of the impeachment of the duly elected president of the United States.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has done Schiff no favor by giving him the high-profile assignment of spearheading the Democrats’ anti-Trump crusade to overturn the results of the 2016 election.
MCCARTHY SIGNS ON TO RESOLUTION TO CENSURE SCHIFF FOR 'PARODY' READING OF UKRAINE CALL
Schiff has no credibility to lead impeachment proceedings in the House over Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., for at least three reasons.
First, Schiff has spent much of the last three years falsely proclaiming to the world that there was clear and unequivocal evidence that the 2016 Trump campaign colluded, conspired, cooperated and coordinated with Russians to bring about Trump’s election victory and Hillary Clinton’s defeat.

This leads us to the inevitable conclusion that the impeachment inquiry will be unfair, without due process, and presided over by an individual who is so biased that he has made impeachment his No. 1 goal since the day after Trump was elected president in 2016.

As President Trump told reporters Wednesday, the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry is “a fraudulent crime on the American people.”
The American people should make it clear to House Democrats that the will of the voters must not be negated in the heavy-handed and unfair manner that is driven by Trump Derangement Syndrome rather than the facts.

He wasn't supposed to release the transcripts. Or the whistleblower report. He was expected to do what any president would have done – what President Obama always did. Hide the evidence.
As House Democrats rolled out their latest meticulously choreographed, perfectly timed, and broadly coordinated attack on President Trump, they weren't counting on the president's unprecedented transparency. Nobody releases a transcript of calls between heads of state. But Donald Trump did.
In the process, he screwed up the narrative. Again.

Donald Trump should be winning awards for his openness and transparency. We've never seen anything like it before. And it's messing with the Democrats' narrative.

Pelosi reiterated that message during her September 24, 2019 announcement of the impeachment inquiry. Finally acquiescing to the demands of her hyperventilating resistance movement, she explained why impeachment of Trump must proceed: "What's more serious is that he can't win. That is very serious to our country."
In 2016, Americans voted for a disruptive, unconventional president who would do things differently than they had ever been done before. That's exactly what they got. And it's driving the left nuts.

New York Post columnist Michael Goodwin wants to know what Barack Obama discussed with world leaders, during his time in the White House.
As President Trump faces an impeachment inquiry over how he handled a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, New York Post columnist Michael Goodwin said he wants to see former President Barack Obama's calls with world leaders for a proper comparison.
"There's a lot about these calls that are strange, in the sense that we have no basis for comparison. We don’t know what presidents say to foreign leaders," he told "Fox & Friends" on Tuesday.
"Only under Donald Trump have we gotten these transcripts either released or leaked. And I would love to know what did Barack Obama say to the Iranians? What did he say to the Russians?" Goodwin continued. "I suspect a lot of these calls have innocuous chatter because you have two leaders, each with their own domestic politics issues."
Goodwin said calls between world leaders likely center on minor complaints and the intense demands of the job, as opposed to anything heinous or criminal.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Democrats' impeachment push is no more than a legislative "coup d'etat," former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said Tuesday.
Appearing on "America's Newsroom" with host Sandra Smith, Gingrich said that the Democrats' impeachment inquiry was "a purely political process."
In a recent op-ed on Fox News, Gingrich said the impeachment "witch hunt" was an "effort by the hard left, the news media, and the deep state to destroy the president chosen by the American people."

HONG KONG—A police officer shot a protester in the chest during a day of bitter fighting here that marked the worst and most widespread violence to hit the city in more than half a century.
The officer pulled his pistol and fired in self-defense, a police spokeswoman said on Tuesday. One video showed the officer shooting at close range after the protester charged with a metal bar.
