Don't Be Fooled by Mark Zuckerberg's Letter

This week, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg sent a letter to House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan admitting to censoring information on his social media platforms after heavy pressure from the Biden-Harris administration. Many are celebrating the news, calling it a major victory for free speech. However, all we see is too little, too late.
For years, Townhall has been sounding the alarm about social media censorship, influenced by woke advertisers, powerful political players, and, yes, the government itself.
Facebook has fact-checked us into oblivion with so-called “independent fact-checkers,” hid our content from the public, and stripped away our ability to monetize. We watched a once thriving online community looking to stay informed and debate ideas slowly disappear. Facebook was determined to wipe “political” content from the platform — and despite our best efforts to stop them, it succeeded.
Then in 2023 came the Twitter and Facebook files, where the censorship and election interference were exposed, receipts and all. The files received national attention for weeks. But still, what was done?
Fast-forward to now, and Zuckerberg has finally decided to apologize for doing the Biden-Harris administration's bidding and removing or suppressing content detailing the truth about COVID-19 and the Hunter Biden laptop — stories that we covered truthfully but were accused of spreading “conspiracy theories” or “Russian disinformation.”
“Oops, our bad! We won’t do it anymore. We promise,” the Meta CEO essentially wrote in his letter to Chairman Jordan.
But the damage has already been done — or so it would have been if it wasn’t for our VIP members.
When Meta and other Big Tech companies began censoring our content, our VIP members and their direct financial support allowed our writers to keep telling the truth the Biden-Harris regime didn’t want you to see.

A shocking partisan switch is underway in the stratosphere of the tech titans: The industry known for its wokeness is betting big bucks on a Republican.
Last week former President Donald Trump gave a thumbs up to the notion of teaming up with billionaire innovator Elon Musk if he wins in November. Hours later, Musk posted a message on X: "I am willing to serve."
Elon Musk for commerce secretary? Or perhaps for the newly created position of free speech czar?
Whether or not Musk actually joins a Trump administration -- Trump himself said Sunday that the mogul is likely too busy to do so but could "consult" -- his bold steps to back the Republican signal a turnaround.
Musk voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020. Yet last month he launched a pro-Trump super PAC, which he and several other tech moguls are funding -- even though Trump would likely remove federal subsidies for electric vehicles, a major Musk industry, if he wins a second term.
Investor and "Shark Tank" star Mark Cuban called the phenomenon of tech bosses boosting Trump "insane."
Not really: While Democrats strove mightily last week to push "freedom" as the theme of their convention, tech leaders are betting that freedom of speech, freedom to innovate and freedom from crushing government regulations and confiscatory taxes are more likely in a Trump reign than in a Kamala Harris administration.
Among those Silicon Valley heavyweights is Nicole Shanahan, who was Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s running mate.
"I would say that I trust the future of this country more under the leadership of Trump ... than I do of the Harrises," Shanahan said last week as Kennedy weighed his decision to back Trump in the race.

Former first lady Melania Trump’s memoir has hit the top spot on multiple best-seller lists on Amazon, and it hasn’t even hit the shelves yet.
The memoir, titled “Melania,” is currently in the top 10 of Amazon’s best sellers category, sits at No. 1 in Amazon’s “Memoirs” category and in the “U.S. Presidents” category, and is at No. 3 in the “Political Leader Biographies” category.
It is set to be released Oct. 1.
“Writing my memoir has been an amazing journey filled with emotional highs and lows,” Ms. Trump told Fox News Digital. “Each story shaped me into who I am today.”
She said the process of writing “has been incredibly rewarding, reminding me of my strength, and the beauty of sharing my truth,” even though it would be “daunting at times.”
The memoir details the “story of a woman who has carved her own path, overcome adversity and defined personal excellence,” according to the book’s press release.

Democrats are trying to hide Vice President Kamala Harris from the public because they know how bad a candidate she is, a senior adviser for former President Donald Trump's campaign told Newsmax on Tuesday.
Jason Miller said on "Prime News" that Harris is "dodging debates" and has "done everything she can to try to change the rules and try to change the whole thing, the whole system that we had already agreed to."
He said, "And the one debate that was announced, excuse me, the one interview that Kamala Harris said that she would do coming up later this week is, first of all, it's pre-taped, so they can go and edit it and take out anything that's bad for Kamala Harris doing that with CNN."
Harris has agreed to an interview with CNN scheduled for Thursday, but it will not be one-on-one. She will be accompanied by her running mate, Minnesota Democrat Gov. Tim Walz.

The House Judiciary Committee knows the names of some Biden administration officials who pressed Facebook and parent company Meta to censor Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic, Rep. Kevin Kiley, R-Calif., told Newsmax on Tuesday.
The California Republican said on "The Record With Greta Van Susteren" that a number of the names in question are in the public record. But he said, "I think there's still more to be uncovered. And ultimately, I think it goes to the very top of the administration." He added, "This was a censorship regime that emanated from the Biden and Harris administration. And there needs to be political accountability for that."
On Tuesday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted in a letter to the House Judiciary Committee that the Biden administration had pressured his company to suppress COVID-19 content, including humor and satire posts. Zuckerberg also admitted "demoting" a story about Hunter Biden's laptop in the fall of 2020.
Kiley, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, said, "For an administration that just loves to talk about threats to democracy, this is the ultimate threat to democracy. You can't have a functioning democracy without freedom of speech. You can't have a functioning democracy in which the existing regime uses its power to silence dissent and to silence political opponents.

Social media titans are probably making Nazi Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels blush, former federal prosecutor Jim Trusty told Newsmax on Tuesday.
Trusty, who is also a former attorney for Donald Trump, made the comment while reacting to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's admission that senior officials in the Biden administration pressured his social media company to censor COVID-19 content during the pandemic and that it was wrong for his platforms to suppress news coverage of the Hunter Biden laptop ahead of the 2020 election.
Appearing on "Newsline," Trusty said, "You look at it from a historic perspective, these social media titans are probably making Joseph Goebbels blush.
"They are in a position where they control the flow of information — especially to the younger generation that is not watching TV or even own a TV. And they are affecting elections.

"This is the new age of disinformation, where we have people in government working with the big chairs of the social media platforms and figuring out ways to affect elections. Fox News host Sandra Smith on Tuesday pointed out that Vice President Kamala Harris still has not posted policy positions on her presidential campaign website.
Harris accepted the Democratic nomination to replace President Joe Biden Thursday, a little more than a month after Biden announced he was ending his reelection bid, but has not posted policy positions on her site, nor has she given an interview or press conference since replacing Biden. Smith reminded liberal talk-show host and Fox News contributor Leslie Marshall that Harris’ only policy speech was one where she introduced price controls as a way to address inflation. Fox News host Sandra Smith on Tuesday pointed out that Vice President Kamala Harris still has not posted policy positions on her presidential campaign website.
Harris accepted the Democratic nomination to replace President Joe Biden Thursday, a little more than a month after Biden announced he was ending his reelection bid, but has not posted policy positions on her site, nor has she given an interview or press conference since replacing Biden. Smith reminded liberal talk-show host and Fox News contributor Leslie Marshall that Harris’ only policy speech was one where she introduced price controls as a way to address inflation. Earlier on Tuesday, as Mia covered, Special Counsel Jack Smith filed a new indictment against former and potentially future President Donald Trump in the January 6 case. With considerable righteous indignation, Trump reacted to the news in a series of posts to his Truth Social account.
Trump began with strong words for Smith, referring to the move as "an effort to resurrect a 'dead' Witch Hunt in Washington, D.C., in an act of desperation, and in order to save face," calling Smith out for being "Deranged" and saying he was "illegally appointed."
In referring to the indictment out as "ridiculous," he called for it to be "dismissed IMMEDIATELY," especially as it "has all the problems of the old indictment."
Trump also called to mind how Smith's case against Trump for his handling of classified documents has been dismissed by Judge Aileen Cannon, which the former president referred to as the "Florida Document Hoax Case." Cannon tossed out the case last month, but Smith on Monday filed an appeal with the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals to reverse that move.
The post also called to mind the upcoming 2024 election. "This is merely an attempt to INTERFERE WITH THE ELECTION, and distract the American People from the catastrophes Kamala Harris has inflicted on our Nation, like the Border Invasion, Migrant Crime, Rampant Inflation, the threat of World War III, and more[,]" Trump warned.

Zuckerberg Letter Cements That Biden Enacted Censorship on Social Media

Last summer a Missouri judge ruled in a case brought by the state that the Biden administration had to cease contact with social media companies. This was addressing the charge that the president and/or his staff were engaged in the muzzling of expression on social platforms, regarding the pandemic as well as other topics. (The ruling was recently overturned by the Supreme Court, this June.)
The case followed revelations from the Twitter Files, the document release overseen by Elon Musk after taking over that company. In those documents it was established how the federal government has been involved in coercing social media to target and silent voices on their platforms, a clear violation of the 1st Amendment. Townhall specifically had been on the receiving end of this government effort to limit speech and control accepted narratives.

Now is a surprising but confirming admission, Mark Zuckerberg - the force behind Meta-FaceBook - has written a letter to Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan on the House Judiciary Committee confirming the level of involvement the White House had in dictating approved speech on his platform. In the two-page letter, Zuckerberg lays out the process his site curtailed or eliminated exposure to certain content, on three segregated topics, at the urging of the Biden administration, and the White House specifically.

In 2021, senior officials from the Biden Administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and satire, and expressed a lot of frustration with our teams when we didn’t agree. Ultimately, it was our decision whether or not to take content down, and we own our decisions, including COVID-19-related changes we made to our enforcement in the wake of this pressure.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. shook up the 2024 presidential race last week when he not only decided to suspend his campaign but threw his support behind former President Donald Trump. His family was livid that the Democrat-turned-independent would tarnish the family’s name in such a way, but Kennedy said there were three key issues that pushed him away from his former party and toward Trump: free speech, the war in Ukraine, and the war on children. Now, in his first interview since his exit, Kennedy told Tucker Carlson that Trump doesn’t just have his support, but that he’s “going to work to get him elected.”
“I’m working with the campaign,” he added. “We’re working on policy issues together. I’ve been asked to go onto the transition team and to help pick the people who will be running the government, and I’m looking forward to that.”
The irony is that if the Democratic Party had left him alone, Kennedy’s position in the race probably would’ve helped them win given his campaign’s internal polling showed he pulled more votes from Trump than Harris. But Democrats left no stone unturned in trying to “collect dirt” on Kennedy and wage legal warfare trying to keep him off ballots.
“I got calls from, for example, a guy that I met at an AA meeting 40 years ago, and he received a call. Most of my family members received calls, contacts, either text or telephone calls from people who said, 'I'm doing intelligence for the DNC, and we'd like to talk to you about Robert Kennedy,'" he told Carlson.
The environmental lawyer said the Democrats’ strategy was “not smart” because he was helping them. “And if they just let me stay in and they didn't run this campaign against me, they probably would win this election.”
