Hawley Wrecks Garland Over DOJ Bias, While Cruz and Lee Finish Him Off

We dodged a big bullet when we avoided getting Merrick Garland on the Supreme Court. His stint as Attorney General under Joe Biden has shown what a feckless soul he is and how woefully wrong he would have been for the Court.
On Wednesday, Garland appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee to answer questions on a variety of issues and as we reported, he got eaten alive by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) when it came to ignoring threats to the Supreme Court justices.
But the senators also took him to task over the treatment of pro-life activists versus the investigations into attacks on crisis pregnancy centers. Sen. Josh Hawley went to town on him with the shameful way that pro-life activist Mark Houck was treated by the FBI before the eyes of his screaming children and left Garland sputtering as he tried to explain the treatment.

OPINION:
I have long held that when the left gains control of an entity — be it a city, a university, or even a simple educational project — it loses all awareness of what the initial purpose of that entity might have been. It brings the city, the university or the simple educational project to foozle — that is, to ruin.
Consider almost any major city in this country. As soon as it falls under the control of the left, rather than devoting itself to filling potholes, lowering taxes, or to policing, it goes off the rails. It becomes a repository for lavish welfare for the poor or a “sanctuary city” for illegal aliens or otherwise indigent people.
Consider the universities. They began years ago teaching their students things that they should know. Such as the history of our country, how to think, how to eat with a knife and fork — the bare essentials. Now the universities of the land have courses in anger management, Black studies, Hispanic studies, green studies and bathroom etiquette.

Ted Cruz Grills AG Garland Over Politicization Of Justice Department

Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz pressed Attorney General Merrick Garland on Wednesday about the Department’s refusal to prosecute protesters who showed up to the homes of Supreme Court justices in the wake of Dobbs v. Jackson.
“I have to say I am deeply disappointed in what the last two years have shown,” Cruz said. “The Department of Justice has been politicized to the greatest extent I’ve ever seen in this country. And it has done a discredit to the Department of Justice, to the FBI, and to the administration of law in this country.”
Cruz then lodged his first question to Garland regarding protesting in front of a judge’s home, with Garland noting it is illegal before seeking to defend the characterization of the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Cruz acknowledged the many DOJ employees who seek to uphold the integrity of the law and said he’s heard from several disgruntled employees that they believe the department has become the “enforcement arm of the DNC.”
