Trump Must Restore Our Trust in Govt and Rule of Law

President-elect Donald J. Trump has been surrounded by an overwhelming number of the shakers and movers of the financial and political community, all with designs on everything from how to "cut costs" and "reform the government" to the best approaches for "crypto currencies" and foreign policies.

Some policies are ensconced in our soon to be nation's 47th president's popularity.

But the fundamental course he must steer is to restore the people’s trust in the government and the institutions we rely on for the rule of law and social order.

The fact of the matter is that most of the electorate does not have confidence in the government or the institutions we rely on for our day-to-day business. Even a cursory review of the available sources reflects a fundamentally malignant decline of the public trust.

PEW Research has found that trust in Congress has steadily declined from 77% in 1964 to 22% in 2024.

Fani Willis Gets Some More Bad News

The Democrats’ effort to use the criminal justice system against President-elect Trump to influence the outcome of the 2024 election has backfired in more ways than one.

Less than a week after Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis was booted from the prosecution against the president-elect, a judge ruled that state lawmakers can subpoena her office as part of an investigation into whether she engaged in inappropriate behavior during the proceedings, according to
The Associated Press.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Shukura Ingram filed the order Monday, telling Willis she has until Jan. 13 to submit arguments over whether the subpoenas seek legally shielded or confidential information. Ingram wrote that the would issue a final order later saying what Willis had to respond to.

Willis, though, wants the ruling overturned.

“We believe the ruling is wrong and will appeal,” former Georgia Gov. Roy Barnes, who is representing Willis in the case, wrote in an email to The Associated Press.

A state appeals court earlier this month removed Willis from the Georgia election interference case against Donald Trump and others, citing an “appearance of impropriety” that might not typically warrant such a removal. The Georgia Court of Appeals panel said in a 2-1 ruling that because of the romantic relationship Willis had with special prosecutor Nathan Wade “this is the rare case in which disqualification is mandated and no other remedy will suffice to restore public confidence in the integrity of these proceedings.”

Republican state lawmakers issued a subpoena to Willis in August to compel her to testify and provide documents related to Trump’s case. A committee has been investigating Willis over her relationship with Wade and other examples of misconduct.

Who is really to blame for the ills of society?

New York City's indifference to violent attacks reveals a deeper breakdown from progressive policies

COMMENTARY

By Charles Hurt - The Washington Times - Thursday, December 26, 2024

OPINION:

The enthusiastic humanitarian and former worst president in history Jimmy Carter is credited with saying that “the measure of a society is found in how they treat their weakest and most helpless citizens.”

As with everything on the internet, it is probably fake. More likely, everybody said this for a very long time until Pastor Jimmah came along and said it and then nobody ever said it again because literally everything Jimmy Carter touched, Jimmy Carter ruined.

America — and the world — has been traumatized ever since the Carter administration, and so it was just understood that maybe if nobody ever quoted him again, we would not be visited by that particularly cancerous Ghost of Christmas Past.

To be fair, worst president in history was no small feat. No one thought it could be topped. But then along came President Biden, who has never seen anything he didn’t want to plagiarize. So he plagiarized Mr. Carter’s presidency.

To Mr. Biden’s credit, he did invent new ways to make things even worse than Mr. Carter could have imagined. So, this being the Christmas season and all, we should at least give Mr. Biden credit for the first original thing he ever did — after 50 years in public life.

Who said an old dog cannot learn new tricks? Anyhoo, it is basically true that a society can be measured by how the weakest among us are treated.

Many shallow, slow-thinking communists argue this means that government should be in charge of everything, which really makes no sense at all if you think about it.

In all the places where the government is most in charge, the weakest are treated the worst. That’s because a society is not the government. Rather, society is the regular people who do all the small things in life to take care of their families, their neighbors and even the strangers they meet on the street.

Few places in America “enjoy” more complete government intrusion into all aspects of life than New York City. And few places feature greater horrors committed against the weakest than New York. The city is essentially an open-air insane asylum these days, with a handful of normal people and tourists stepping around the carnage.

On Christmas Eve, a 26-year-old woman was headed to work when a lunatic punched her in the back of the head so hard she blacked out. She was walking through Grand Central Station — that great, cavernous monument to the healthy society we once were. Adding to the Christmas cheer, the madman plunged a knife into the woman’s throat.

The woman was shocked that no one stopped to help her.

“No one called 911. No one in Grand Central called 911,” she said later. Instead, she called her neighbor, and her neighbor called the police for her. She was one of two innocent people stabbed by that particular monster on Christmas Eve in Grand Central Station.

As gruesome as that scene was on Christmas Eve, it was a holiday greeting card compared with what one of Mr. Biden’s migrants did on the F train last week. In some kind of demonic stupor, a monster struck a match and lit on fire a woman who was sleeping on the train full of commuters. The accused is a hardworking Guatemalan who entered the country illegally.

Internet footage shows the woman standing up — apparently awakened by being lit on fire — and standing in the open doors of the stalled train as scores of people milled about and walked by as if this were some normal occurrence in New York. To be fair, it does seem rather normal for society in New York these days.

In the aftermath, internet cowboys were horrified to see the indifference of people passing by as the woman — who has yet to be identified by city authorities — burned to death. Those videotaping the carnage drew the most seething scorn.

I would actually defend those who recorded the incident and its aftermath. Those people contributed valuable evidence that will be used to convict Mr. Biden’s monster. Just as importantly, they held up a mirror to the society that New York City has become.

Anyway, those people milling around the F train as the woman burned — even those recording the incident on their phones — are not the guiltiest of our broken society. The guiltiest are all the people — many of them the internet cowboys who later weighed in on the atrocity with all their damnation — who live in New York City and keep voting for the same politicians and policies that create a government that tortures the weakest among us.

All because they themselves have such contempt for the weakest that they would rather just step over them and move along.

Americans lost trust in judicial system over the past four years, Gallup survey finds

By Alex Swoyer - The Washington Times - Tuesday, December 17, 2024

Americans are losing confidence in the judiciary, according to a new Gallup survey that revealed the public’s trust in the courts is down to 35%, a decline coinciding with the legal system’s treatment of President-elect Donald Trump.

That’s a 24-point drop since 2000, and follows the roughly half-dozen criminal prosecutions against Mr. Trump.

It also comes after the Supreme Court overturned the national right to abortion in 2022.

The results are unclear if respondents were thinking of just the high court’s rulings or also mulling the litigation against Mr. Trump. However, according to Gallup, just a few other countries found such a decline.

Those include Myanmar, which saw a 46-point drop after the 2021 return to military rule, Venezuela with a 35-point drop in the course of economic and political chaos spanning the past decade, and Syria, which experienced a 28-point drop during its civil war.

The Gallup poll, published Tuesday, did not differentiate on party affiliation. But it reasoned that some of the decline was attributed to the cases against Mr. Trump.

Gallup suggested some respondents were frustrated with the criminal and civil cases against the president-elect, while others may have been dissatisfied with the Supreme Court ruling in his favor on presidential immunity.

President Biden’s Justice Department appointed special counsel Jack Smith, who indicted Mr. Trump over his handling of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago in the summer of 2023. Roughly two months later, Mr. Smith also indicted Mr. Trump over his contest of the 2020 election results on Jan. 6, 2021.

Earlier in 2023, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg also indicted Mr. Trump for allegedly falsifying business records. A New York jury convicted Mr. Trump of 34 felony counts in May, but sentencing has been on hold following Mr. Trump’s election victory.

A criminal case is also pending against him in Fulton County, Georgia, over his contest of the 2020 results.

The Gallup survey found that out of all U.S. institutions, the court system had lost the most confidence during the past four years.

President-elect Trump's Message of Strength, Clarity, and Conservativism Strike the Right Chord

In this pivotal moment, as America celebrates the holidays and prepares for a new year, Donald Trump is already positioning himself as the nation's guide through turbulent times.

His recent NBC interview delivered an unmistakable message: strength, clarity, and conservative vision. Trump's promises for his first 100 days reveal a bold and uncompromising agenda to restore American greatness, secure its borders, and uplift its citizens.

How so?

Trump emphasized bolstering "Project Safe Neighborhoods" to combat urban crime, pledging federal-local collaboration. "We can’t wait for crime to solve itself," he said, targeting cities like Chicago and Baltimore as focal points of a renewed law-and-order agenda.

In a historic move, Trump plans to negotiate with China under the Fentanyl Accountability Treaty, demanding the death penalty for traffickers exporting precursors to the U.S. "If they kill our citizens, the consequences must match," he said.

On the matter of the border, Trump intends to build on the Secure the Border Act of 2023, Trump committed to deporting millions of illegal immigrants, prioritizing criminals. His administration will expand detention facilities and streamline deportation processes through revamped immigration courts.

To secure stricter border control, Trump will maintain the 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada, established under the USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement.)

He warned that noncompliance could trigger further tariff hikes.

And regarding tariffs, Trump outlined plans to impose tariffs on nations exploiting U.S. trade imbalances, channeling revenues into domestic infrastructure. "We won’t subsidize foreign economies at the expense of American workers," he declared.

In addition to the promises and strategies enumerated above, Mr. Trump promised to restore defense spending to Trump-era NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) levels, prioritizing nuclear capabilities and expanding naval fleets to counter threats from China and Russia.

Other Additional Key Promises:

Reckless Debt Spending Amounts to Generational Theft

The current $36 trillion and rapidly growing gross federal debt represents a moral failure that will divert critical resources away from crucial investments in our children’s, grandchildren’s and future generations’ educations, economic opportunities, and overall quality of life.

Included in this incomprehensively large national deficit is debt held by the public as well as debt held by federal trust funds and other government accounts. In very basic terms this can be thought of as debt that the government owes to others plus
debt that it owes to itself.

Many economists regard debt held by the public (DHBP) as the most meaningfully quoted measurement which is typically expressed as a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP), a ratio that measures the economy’s capacity to support government borrowing over time.

U.S.
DHBP reached $29 trillion in 2024 — 99% of GDP and $2 trillion more than 97% at the end of 2023. While slightly down from a 100% 74-year-high in 2020, this unsustainable trend is on track to reach 116% of GDP in 2034.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic rapidly ballooned federal debt, having reached 79% of GDP just prior to the pandemic, it has continued far out of control since the time that the health and business crisis ended.

Information in a federal report that pointed to the COVID-19 virus being leaked from a Chinese laboratory rather than coming from nature was "silenced" from being included in discussions with President Joe Biden and in a final report in May 2021, according to sources close to the situation.

As a result, the report concluded that the virus that caused the pandemic likely was not genetically engineered at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, but had come from nature, reports the
New York Post on Friday.

The "zoonotic origin" theory on the virus had been backed by several people in the public health establishment including Dr. Anthony Fauci, the then-director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and Biden's chief medical adviser.

According to an analysis by three scientists from the Defense Intelligence Agency's National Center for Medical Intelligence, the agency tasked with examining the potential of biological weapons threats and dangerous infectious diseases, there were several findings that were linked to China,
The Wall Street Journal first reported Thursday.

The analysis, conducted by John Hardham, Robert Cutlip, and Jean-Paul Chretien discovered:

Donald Trump’s victory, combined with Republicans regaining the Senate majority and keeping control of the House, made 2024 a bad year for Democrats.

Signs suggest it could be something even worse: a historic defeat that puts Republicans in the political driver’s seat for a generation or more.

That’s because the exit poll showed that more voters said they were Republican than Democrat — for the first time in a presidential election since 1928.

Such a result hasn’t happened since talking pictures were new and Babe Ruth clobbered homers in the original Yankee Stadium.

No one alive today has ever voted in a presidential race where this has occurred.

President-elect Donald Trump refused to wish federal death-row inmates granted clemency by President Biden a merry Christmas on Wednesday – telling them to “go to Hell.”

Trump: 'Merry Christmas to All!'

By Charlie McCarthy | Wednesday, 25 December 2024 11:15 AM EST

President-elect Donald Trump offered Americans a simple Christmas Day message on Wednesday morning.

"MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!" Trump
posted on Truth Social.

Trump has made a point to say "Merry Christmas" while many Democrats and progressives in recent years have stressed "Happy Holidays" as a way not to offend anyone.

A half hour after sharing his message, Trump
posted a photo of him and Melania Trump in formal attire and flanked by Christmas trees. The image included the words "Merry CHRISTMAS 2024!"

The president-elect made a point to offer the same wishes while speaking at Turning Point USA's AmericaFest in Phoenix, Arizona, on Sunday.

"I want to wish everybody a very, Merry Christmas," he
told attendees. "They don't say that too much anymore. We say it."

Later in the evening he
posted a video of a Christmas address from his first term as president.
