President Donald Trump will need to resume military actions in Iran to decisively resolve the current conflict, Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., said.

Scott said Tuesday that Trump may have little choice but to renew strikes after diplomatic efforts failed to produce a lasting agreement with Tehran.

"I think he's going to have to," Scott told an interviewer when asked whether Trump should follow through on his threat to destroy Iranian infrastructure if Tehran continues targeting ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

"Here's a president that doesn't like war. None of us do," Scott said, the
Washington Examiner reported. "Here's a president that doesn't want to put troops in harm's way. None of us do."

Scott said Trump gave diplomacy an opportunity, but Iran "walked away from it," arguing that the president eventually may have to take further action to destroy Tehran's ability to produce weapons.

The Florida senator suggested military action could come within the next "30 days or so," while stressing Trump has access to intelligence that he does not and will continue pursuing diplomacy where possible,
The Hill reported.

Scott has consistently backed Trump's hard line against Tehran.

In a Tuesday post
on X, Scott said he was "grateful" to have a commander in chief who understands Iran "can NEVER have a nuclear weapon," thanking Trump for "always putting the safety of Americans FIRST."

Scott has previously defended Trump's Iran policy on similar grounds, saying in March that the conflict should end only after Tehran's nuclear and ballistic-missile capabilities are neutralized.

The comments come as Trump says there are no U.S.-Iran talks currently scheduled. A June memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran failed to produce a durable settlement, leaving disputes over Iran's nuclear program, sanctions, and the Strait of Hormuz unresolved.

Trump has maintained that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons is a central U.S. objective.

He said last week that Americans may have to tolerate higher gasoline prices temporarily to prevent Tehran from obtaining a nuclear bomb.

The conflict has also placed pressure on global energy markets because of disruptions around Hormuz, one of the world's most important oil shipping routes.

Scott acknowledged Americans want lower gasoline prices and an end to the fighting but argued national security must take priority.

"War is horrible, but being killed by a nuclear weapon is worse," Scott said. "So this president's doing exactly what he should be doing as commander in chief of defending this country."
