Musk: Chauvin Is 'Not a Murderer,' Should Be Freed

Elon Musk on Wednesday called for former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin to be freed.
He said Chauvin was wrongly convicted of murder in the 2020 death of George Floyd.
"Derek Chauvin was unjustly convicted of murder, therefore he should be freed," Musk wrote on X. Musk said that Chauvin was not responsible for Floyd's death and did not intend to kill him, concluding: "Whatever else he may be, he is not a murderer. That is the truth."
Musk's assertion that Chauvin did not cause Floyd's death conflicts with medical testimony presented by prosecutors at trial and the jury's verdict.
The defense argued that Floyd's heart disease and drug use caused his death.
The medical examiner who performed Floyd's autopsy ruled the death a homicide due to "cardiopulmonary arrest" that occurred during "law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression."
