Manila is countering pro-CCP politicians, propaganda, and ‘academic exchange.’

Commentary

Beijing is using clubs and water cannons to take Philippine territory while gaslighting the country through propagandistic cultural, academic, political, and media campaigns. But Manila is wise to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP’s) subversion of Philippine democracy and increasingly pushes back.

Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. is at the tip of this particular spear. He recently called on pro-CCP politicians in the Philippines to resign. He denounced a video released by Chinese state media that depicts the Philippines as a monkey. And the Defense Department is scrutinizing CCP-backed academic and cultural “exchange” programs in the Philippines that have come under investigation by a Stanford University initiative.
