US weighs up military options on Syria

For the first time, the Obama administration is offering to deliver radios and other non-lethal assistance to Syria's rebel forces. There's a push for military intervention by some senior Republicans, but US officials warn of the risks of taking any action without international consensus or a unified opposition. After a week of stalling, the Syrian government briefly allowed the UN's humanitarian chief and the Syrian Red Crescent into besieged and now deserted Babr Amr in Homs.
