Polls Show Voters Will Reject Democratic Socialists in November

Our July national survey points to a clear strategic lesson for Republicans heading into the 2026 midterm elections: Americans overwhelmingly prefer free-market capitalism over big government socialism.
On the traditional generic congressional ballot, the race appears highly competitive. Our survey included 1,000 likely general election voters and was conducted July 15-21, with a margin of error of ±3.1%.
Democrats hold only a narrow edge, 46% to 44%, with 10% undecided. That closely divided result has remained remarkably consistent throughout our monthly polling.
However, the picture changes dramatically when voters are asked a more substantive question.
Instead of simply choosing between a Republican and a Democrat, respondents were asked whether they would support a Republican candidate who supports free-market capitalism or a Democratic candidate who supports big government socialism.
The result was striking. Republicans moved from a virtual tie on the generic ballot to a commanding 49% to 36% advantage.
This represents a roughly 15-point swing toward the GOP.
