It was Memorial Day weekend, and I spent much of Friday and Saturday traveling from airport to airport, trying to stay connected while flying across the country.

Even in the air, my phone filled with increasingly urgent text messages and missed calls from my longtime friend, Sen. Lindsey Graham.

Anyone who knew Lindsey understood that when he became animated about an issue, he pursued it relentlessly.

But this weekend was different.
