Biden Administration Sells Off Crucial US Helium Stockpile

The Biden Administration sold off the Federal Helium Reserve on Thursday which accounts for 30% of the nation’s helium supply.

The stockpile, which is located underground in Amarillo, Texas, is comprised of 425 miles of pipeline that travels throughout Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma, according to NBC News. The deal has yet to be finalized but will likely go to the highest bidder, gas company Messer, according to the report.

The sale was first mandated by Congress in 2013 under the Helium Stewardship Act and was originally supposed to take place in 2021 but hit a series of delays. The Bureau of Land Management said the legislation “seeks to mitigate a helium shortage by enabling the Secretary of the Interior…to continue to sell crude helium from the Federal Helium Reserve.”

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recorded the highest monthly total of migrant encounters at the southern border ever in December, according to agency data updated Friday.

CBP recorded 302,034 encounters at both ports of entry and between ports of entry at the U.S.-Mexico border in December, bringing fiscal year 2024’s total crossings to more than 785,000, according to the data. Of the more than 302,000 encounters, Border Patrol recorded a total of 249,785 illegal encounters, according to the data. In fiscal year 2022, Border Patrol recorded more than 2.2 million encounters of migrants crossing the southern border illegally, according to CBP data. The following fiscal year saw more than 2 million additional encounters in the region.

The adjective “Orwellian” can be overused in our political discourse. But how else to describe a situation in which the federal government abdicates its responsibility to secure the nation’s wide-open border and then, when a state steps up to help stanch the bleeding, is told by that same federal government to stop — and, for good measure, that its efforts to help secure the border via a new razor wire barrier will be undone?

There really is only one apt word: “Orwellian.”

On Monday, the Supreme Court voted 5-4 — with moderate Chief Justice John Roberts and center-right Justice Amy Coney Barrett joining their liberal colleagues — in favor of the Biden administration, which had requested that the court permit its Border Patrol agents to cut or remove protective razor wire fencing installed by Texas officials along the besieged Rio Grande. We've been covering the battle going on right now between Texas and Joe Biden. Biden not only doesn't want to enforce the law and keep illegal aliens out, he wants to stop Texas from doing the job he's supposed to be doing -- defending their state from invasion. Now Texas is using that term specifically because they're referencing Article IV, Section 4 to add to their argument against Biden.


"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion."


Not like they need more. The latest numbers of illegal aliens coming in, in just the last month shows how true that description is, as my colleague Mike Miller explained.


A stunning 371,036 illegals were caught entering the country, breaking the previous record of 341,392 set in August 2023. Encounters along the Southwest border also set a new record, hitting 302,034, per other data released by CBP on Jan. 26.

And we're not even talking about gotaways.

Whatever happened to civil disobedience?

When I was quite young, there was much talk about the uses of civil disobedience to influence culture and policy. Rosa Parks was often (and justifiably so) held up as an example of civil disobedience in defiance of an unfair and arbitrary policy – forcing black Americans to sit in the rear of buses and to give up seats to white Americans. Now we have another example, that of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who cites the Constitution as justification for his defiance of the Biden administration. Governor Abbott has rightly said on behalf of Texas, “I will not comply.”

Hunter Biden's lawyer, Kevin Morris (the dubious-looking fellow on the left in the above image), hasn't exactly been on a winning streak lately. Morris recently threatened legal action against legal scholar Jonathan Turley. Turley doubled down on Friday morning — and made Morris look like a fool in the process.

First, a bit of background:

Following the initial “Laptop from Hell” report by the New York Post in 2020, the House launched an impeachment inquiry into the Biden family. Investigators revealed President Joe Biden received money from James and Hunter Biden. They also showed that nine additional Biden family members received payments from the family’s foreign business ventures, including two of Joe Biden’s grandchildren.

In addition, the inquiry also compelled Morris to verify that he purchased Hunter’s ten percent stake in a Chinese state-backed investment fund, BHR Partners, confirming Breitbart News’s exclusive in April. BHR Partners, an entity controlled by the Bank of China, has about $3 billion currently invested around the world, according to its website.

The inquiry also forced Morris to admit he loaned Hunter millions of dollars to maintain his lifestyle and pay his taxes and legal fees, actions that caused America First Legal to file a bar complaint with the State Bar of California.


In a Friday column titled "The Curious Ethical Case of Kevin Morris," Turley not only refused to back down; he again slammed Morris — sometimes referred to as Hunter's "sugar brother" — for his beyond questionable relationship with Joe Biden's son.

Articles of impeachment have officially been introduced against Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who allegedly had an affair with the special prosecutor she hired to prosecute former President Donald Trump in his Georgia election interference case.

GOP state Rep. Charlice Byrd, a Trump ally and chairwoman of the Georgia Freedom Caucus, introduced H.R. 872 on Friday, seeking to impeach the anti-Trump Democrat DA for using her prosecutorial position "not to pursue justice but for political gain."

With freedom on the line, bold action is necessary. It's time for the legislature to do its constitutional duty and hold corrupt Fulton DA Fani WIllis accountable, which is why I have introduced H.R. 872, articles of impeachment against Fani WIllis. Read my full statement below:

The 10-page House resolution alleges that Willis committed "acts of malfeasance, tyrannical partiality, and oppression" in the "wrongful" indictment of Trump and his 18 co-defendants, constituting "the severest case of gross abuse of discretion." Byrd claims Willis "grossly violated" her oath of office, in which she swore "impartiality" "without fear" or "favor." Additionally, Byrd accuses Willis of engaging in an "inappropriate" and "unethical" relationship with lead prosecutor Nathan Wade — relations from which she has "financially benefitted" and "profited," Byrd alleges, citing the DA's vow to take "only my lawful compensation."

The IRS consultant who leaked tax returns of former President Donald Trump and thousands of other wealthy Americans pleaded with a judge to show some leniency, casting himself as digital-era Robin Hood, crusading to steal data from the privileged in a bid to “benefit society.”

Charles Littlejohn, scheduled to be sentenced Monday in federal court in Washington, said through his lawyer that he now sees what he did was wrong. But at the time, he felt righteous in his anger and justified in releasing information he felt the public had a right to see, even if the law disagreed.

Littlejohn also said he was looking to do something big after learning of a distressing medical diagnosis for his father.

“If ever I found myself scared to push further I would think about everything I had done so far, everything that led up to this moment and I’d push through,” he wrote in his diary the day he first reached out to The New York Times to share the then-president’s tax returns.

The newspaper reported the details in September 2020, just weeks before the presidential election.
