Hillary Clinton need not give sworn testimony in email lawsuit, judge rules
Posted yesterday at 2:40pm
Democratic Party presidential candidate Hillary Clinton does not need to give sworn testimony in a lawsuit brought by a conservative watchdog group over her use of an unauthorised private email system while she was US secretary of state, a judge has ruled.
Key points:
* Judge says former high-ranking officials only need give testimony in "exceptional circumstance"
* Watchdog Judicial Watch welcomes the ruling that Clinton need respond in writing to questions
* Poll shows the scandal contributes to a lack of trust in Clinton
Mrs Clinton must instead respond in writing within 30 days to questions submitted by Judicial Watch, a group that has long been critical of her conduct and which is suing the Department of State over Clinton-era records.
