Three months on from exiting federal politics, former foreign minister Julie Bishop has revealed her next career move — and it’s another first.

Former foreign minister Julie Bishop will be the next chancellor of the Australian National University in Canberra, it has been announced.

Three months on from exiting politics, after a two-decade career, Ms Bishop shared the news of her move to academia in a message released this morning.

“It is a great honour to take up the role of chancellor of ANU,” Ms Bishop said.

“Without doubt ANU is world-class in terms of education and research and it our nation’s leading university.

“The world is facing unprecedented change: the fourth industrial revolution, with technology changing everything we do; the geo-strategic and geopolitical shifts; and the changing demographics.”
