Protests that dotted the city ended peacefully ahead of an antigovernment rally on Sunday

Five years ago, Hong Kong’s student protesters became famous world-wide for doing their homework while camping on the streets of the city’s financial district during pro-democracy protests.
In a sign of how much more intense protesters have become since then, activists are calling for a boycott of classes in early September, when high-school students start a new academic year.
