The college-admissions bribery scandal was one of the most shocking and least surprising stories of the year. You knew it would come to this—cynical parents gaming a process that has become incomprehensible to everyone except the gremlins who make these admissions decisions.
Let’s hope a couple of things come of it. Let’s hope the bribery ring’s mastermind, Rick Singer, spends his time in prison writing the definitive book on college admissions, a heart of darkness no one knows better than he. It would be a public service....
