Israel air strike on Syria 'is a message to Iran and the US'

Richard Spencer, Middle East Correspondent, says that Israel's latest air strike on Syria is more than just an attempt to stop weapons falling into the hands of its enemies.

Israel has carried out an air strike against Syria, saying it targeted a shipment of "game changing" advanced missiles bound for Hizbollah fighters.

Israeli officials said the shipment was not of chemical arms, but of "game changing" weapons bound for the Lebanese militant group. The airstrike took place early on Friday, but did not say where it took place.

Middle East Correspondent Richard Spencer, speaking from the Turkish-Syrian border, said subtext to the attack was "a message" to both Iran, who are backing the Assad regime, and its main ally the US, who appear to remain resolute in their determination not to intervene in Syria.
