To Keep Our Republic, GOP Voters Must Turn Out

Walt Kelly's comic strip character "Pogo" famously said in 1971, "We have met the enemy and he is us."
The same might be said for Trump supporters and Republicans as we close in on the '26 Midterm elections.
A study by Pew Research, the best nonpartisan survey outfit, documented the huge disparity between Democratic and Republican enthusiasm and intention of voting.
Pew found," Democratic candidates are buoyed by their supporters' relatively high levels of engagement and stated motivation to vote when compared with those who are backing Republican candidate."
According to the Pew study, Democratic enthusiasm for voting this year was 8 points higher than Republican engagement.
With paper thin margins separating both senate and House candidates, the GOP cannot prevail unless its voters understand the stakes in this election and vote in larger numbers than the polling predicts.
Currently nursing very small leads in protecting Republican senate seats in Iowa, Texas, and Kansas, while also registering a small lead over Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan, the GOP is narrowly trailing in protecting Republican seats in Alaska, Maine, and Ohio.
Only in Michigan and perhaps in Minnesota do Republicans have a good shot at taking away Democratic seats. Why the lack of Republican enthusiasm? nd what to do about it?
GOP voters have taken the enormous progress America has made under Trump for granted and don't fully realize how dramatically for the worse things would be if the Democrats win.
Do we want to see how the economy fares if Democrats are able to layer on high new taxes?
Do we want to go back to open borders and let another 25 million illegal immigrants into America?
Do we realize that because of Trump's deportations, the crime rate and drug overdose death rates are at century long lows?
Are we willing to see hardened criminals and drug dealers ply their trade while those arrested are released without bail?
Are we prepared to drown the Medicare Trust Fund in a sea of illegal immigrants collecting benefits? Of course not!
Republican voters must realize the truth of what Benjamin Franklin told a fellow patriot when she asked what form of government he had designed for the new nation.
He said, "A Republic, if you can keep it."
