PARLIAMENT slammed international silence over atrocities being committed against Syrians and Palestinians in refugee camps in Damascus.

It criticised world powers in a statement for abandoning women, children and elderly to rot to death under deteriorating health and living conditions.

"Thirty people have died because of the tyrant Syrian government's refusal to allow aid to reach areas under duress," said the statement.

"The humanitarian conscience has to wake up to save more Syrian and Palestinian lives, especially in Al Yarmook refugee camp in Damascus for seeing the ill fate of death.

"We praise His Majesty King Hamad for his directives to provide Syrian refugees with $20 million, which shows the true nature of the Bahraini people."

Meanwhile, parliament second vice-chairman Shaikh Adel Al Maawada urged MPs to discuss reports on official trips abroad instead of just blindly giving them the stamp of approval.

"Money is spent on visits and time and effort is being put to prepare reports, which are not being discussed," he said.

"There are some issues that we can look into, especially in relation to our visit to the Gaza Strip a few months back, as we can recommend ways to help people under duress there." There were nine reports on visits listed for discussion on the agenda yesterday.
