William Hague: Bashar al-Assad's regime is 'doomed'

Foreign Secretary William Hague says that the new UN envoy to Syria has a "very difficult" job but that the Syrian regime is "doomed".

Updating MPs in the House of Commons on the situation in Syria, the Foreign Secretary said that the regime of President Bashar al-Assad was "doomed".

William Hague also suggested that the new UN envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, had a "difficult job."

Mr Brahimi, the former Algerian foreign minister, has been chosen to replace Kofi Annan by the United Nations and the Arab League to try to find a diplomatic solution to the crisis.
