'Death penalty' outrage
One of the judges trying Norway mass killer Anders Breivik is in hot water after saying he deserves the death penalty.
Lawyers on all sides have requested that one of the lay judges trying confessed mass killer Anders Behring Breivik be dismissed for saying he deserves the death penalty for the July 22 massacre.
Lawyers have requested that one of the judges trying Anders Behring Breivik be dismissed.
Prosecutors, defence lawyers and lawyers representing victims agreed that Thomas Indreboe could not continue on the five-judge panel after admitting he posted a comment about the death penalty on a chat forum the day after the massacre that killed 77. Norway doesn't have the death penalty.
The court was adjourned to discuss the issue on Tuesday.
Breivik is being tried by a panel of two professional judges and three lay judges. The system is designed to let ordinary citizens have a role in the Norwegian justice system.
