The Chinese government has denied it covered up the extent of the coronavirus outbreak, after it was revealed the country had a higher virus death toll than previously reported.
At least 50 per cent more people died in China’s virus epicentre of Wuhan than previously counted, with state media on Friday attributing the initial undercount to an overwhelmed health system coping with thousands of sick patients.
