Migrant Caravan Crosses Mexico’s Southern Border Despite Offer of Asylum

Nation urges migrant leaders to assist with orderly border entry, says security forces won’t repress group

TECUN UMAN, Guatemala—A caravan of several thousand Honduran migrants poured over the Mexican border Friday, ignoring Mexico’s offer to let smaller groups of the caravan in each day and deepening a regional migration crisis.

Televised images showed thousands of Hondurans tearing apart a fence on the Guatemalan side of the border and coming through an open gate.
