Bavarian Exit Polls Show Germany’s CSU Losing Its Absolute Majority
Angela Merkel’s conservative allies win only 35.5% of vote, exit polls say, down from 47.7% in 2013

MUNICH—Bavaria, Germany‘s most prosperous state, succumbed to a wave of polarization that has been upending the political landscape across the country as voters on Sunday, according to exit polls, punished Angela Merkel’s conservative allies while boosting erstwhile fringe parties.
In its worst showing since 1950, the conservative Christian Social Union, or CSU, lost its absolute majority and only won 35.5% of the vote, down from 47.7% in 2013, according to exit polls. The left-leaning Greens and the far-right Alternative...
