Report: US seeking country of refuge for Libya's Gaddafi

The Obama administration has reportedly began searching for a country to provide Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi shelter is he were forcibly removed from power, the New York Times said Sunday, despite the fact that no credible rebel leaders has emerged to replace the Libyan autocrat.
According to the New York Times report, the US and allies have been quietly seeking the new country, which would likely be in Africa. The effort could face difficulties, however, if Gaddafi were to be indicted by the International Criminal Court in The Hague for the Lockerbie bombing in 1988 and for crimes committed against Libyan citizens.
