Trump Suggests Cuba Could Follow Venezuela's Path

President Donald Trump suggested Cuba could follow a path similar to Venezuela's, saying such a scenario is "possible" as his administration continues to shape its policy toward the communist-run island.
In an interview with Axios, Trump was asked whether a Cuba operation could unfold in a manner similar to the administration's recent efforts involving Venezuela.
"Possibly. It's possible," Trump said.
The president noted the geographic proximity of both countries to the United States, contrasting them with more distant foreign policy challenges.
"These places are close by. Whereas if you look at Iran, that's a very long trip," Trump said.
"Venezuela is relatively close and Cuba is a hopscotch."
Trump also pointed to what he sees as a major difference between the two countries: natural resources.
"Venezuela has oil. Cuba doesn't," he said.
