Trump Endorsements Fuel GOP Victories

President Donald Trump's endorsement remains one of the most coveted prizes in Republican politics, with the 2026 primary season offering fresh evidence that his backing continues to carry significant weight among GOP voters.
A string of high-profile Republican primary victories has reinforced Trump's influence as he seeks to shape the party's nominees for Congress and statewide offices ahead of the November midterm elections.
The latest victory came Saturday in Louisiana, where Rep. Julia Letlow captured the Republican Senate nomination after receiving Trump's endorsement. Letlow previously defeated incumbent Sen. Bill Cassidy in the primary's first round. Trump targeted Cassidy after the Louisiana Republican voted to convict him during Trump's second impeachment trial.
Trump also has backed several other major Republican primary winners this year, including Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who defeated longtime Sen. John Cornyn; Rep. Andy Barr, who secured Kentucky's Republican Senate nomination; and Rep. Barry Moore, who won Alabama's GOP Senate primary. Numerous House incumbents endorsed by Trump also have advanced comfortably.
