More Than 100 People Possibly Buried by Landslide in Southwestern China

Early-morning landslide crashed into Xinmo mountain village in Sichuan province, county government says

BEIJING—A landslide that crashed into a mountain village in southwestern China’s Sichuan province early Saturday was feared to have buried more than 100 people, according to local authorities.

More than 40 homes were buried by the landslide, which happened around 6 a.m. and came after heavy rains. It blocked 1¼-mile section of a river in Xinmo village, according to an announcement on the website of the local county government. ...
