That’s Unfortunate: CNN Host Has No Idea What That North Korean Missile Hologram Looks Like
by Matt Wilstein | 2:22 pm, March 22nd, 2013
During a report on North Korea’s missile capabilities Thursday afternoon, Jake Tapper‘s new show The Lead attempted to show off the latest in CNN’s semi-futuristic hologram technology. But they ended up taking a very serious story to a very silly place when reporter Tom Foreman was forced to do the story with an awkwardly-place missile image superimposed over his crotch.
Speaking about the missile launch tests North Korea has engaged in recently, Foreman said, “It’s still kind of experimental, and doesn’t suggest they can do those really long launches,” making an unfortunate gesture with his hands. The name for these type of missiles didn’t exactly help Foreman’s case either. “But they have lower grade missiles,” he added, “the Taepodong series, which could possibly carry a small nuke, certainly conventional warheads, for the distance we’re talking about.”
Next time CNN and The Lead want to play around with holograms, they may want to consider where their reporters are standing, as well as the dirty minds of people watch and write about cable news.
