President Donald Trump is slated to visit Hawaii this week as part of a trip that will take him to five Asian countries: Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam and the Philippines.
"The president's trip will focus on three goals," National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster told reporters Thursday during a White House briefing. "First, strengthening international resolve to denuclearize North Korea. Second, promote a free and open Indo-Pacific region. Third, advance American prosperity through fair and reciprocal trade and economic practices."
"President Trump will reiterate the plain fact that North Korea threatens not just our allies South Korea, Japan and the U.S.," but, McMaster said, is also "a threat to the entire world."

Interim Democratic National Committee (DNC) chair Donna Brazile placed blame for the party’s financial woes squarely on former President Barack Obama and Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz in a Thursday column, excoriating the pair for handing over complete control of the party to the Clinton campaign almost a year before she secured the nomination.
Soon after taking over as interim chair, Brazile set out to determine whether the DNC had improperly assisted former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in securing the party’s nomination, as leaked internal emails suggested.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said Thursday she believes the 2016 Democratic presidential primary was rigged for Hillary Clinton.
When asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper if she believed the Democratic primary was rigged in favor of Clinton, Warren replied with a simple “Yes.”
Tapper was asking Warren about former Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairwoman Donna Brazile’s new book in which she says she found evidence that Clinton’s campaign fixed the Democratic nomination system in her favor.

In new memoir 'Hacks,' longtime Democratic Party insider says the Clinton campaign took over the Democratic National Committee; James Rosen reports from Washington.
The fix was in after all.
Last year's presidential primary between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders was rigged by the Democratic National Committee - just as Sanders' supporters suspected - to hand the nomination to Clinton, according to a bombshell claim by Donna Brazile. The onetime Clinton confidante, CNN commentator and former interim party boss made the explosive claim Thursday while touting a new book that could sever her ties to Team Clinton for good.
“I had promised Bernie when I took the helm of the Democratic National Committee after the convention that I would get to the bottom of whether Hillary Clinton’s team had rigged the nomination process, as a cache of emails stolen by Russian hackers and posted online had suggested,” Brazile wrote in a piece for Politico Magazine.

WASHINGTON, Nov. 1, 2017 — Artificial intelligence is the new frontier, and the Defense Department must invest in this breakthrough or be in danger of not being competitive in the future, said Eric Schmidt, the chairman of the Defense Innovation Board, during a discussion at the Center for a New American Security today.
Schmidt, who also served as the chief executive officer of Google and parent company Alphabet, said of all the recommendations the board made, the most important was that DoD needs to catch up in AI.

The terror attack Tuesday in Lower Manhattan has brought renewed calls from President Trump and other top Washington Republicans to end the "diversity visa" program under which the central Asian suspect entered the United States.
“I’ve always been against it because it’s a random system to bring people into the United States,” Texas GOP Rep. Mike McCaul, chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, said Wednesday on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends.”
McCaul said he’s trying to abolish the roughly 25-year-old program and replace it with a merit-based one.

A timeline of the deadly events of October 31, 2017, in New York City leaving eight people dead and 11 others injured when a truck plowed into pedestrians and bicyclists along a bike path.
A suspected ISIS militant plowed a rented truck down one of Manhattan’s busier bike paths Tuesday afternoon – killing at least eight people and seriously injuring 12 others in what was the deadliest terror attack in New York City since 9/11.
Many of those killed were tourists, including five Argentines celebrating a school reunion.

Laura Ingraham said Americans are not going to accept radical Islamist terrorist attacks like what occurred in New York City on Tuesday as the "new normal."
"When a jihadist games our immigration system, gets a green card, rents a truck, and in the name of Allah mows down innocents in a major American city, that is not nor will it ever be acceptable in the U.S.," Ingraham said on "The Ingraham Angle" tonight.
She said Americans demand that their elected officials take action to keep the U.S. safe, as President Donald Trump did when he signed executive orders on immigration and called for "extreme vetting."
"For that, he was branded as cruel and heartless. You know what's cruel and heartless? Bikers and pedestrians run over in broad daylight in a major American city. That's cruel and heartless," Ingraham said.

She said Trump's instincts about national security are correct: protect the borders, deport lawbreakers, build a wall and halt refugees from certain countries given the severity of the threat.
"President Trump was elected in large part because voters appreciated his no-nonsense pragmatism on issues like homeland security and immigration," Ingraham said. "Although we can't stop all terror attack in the United States, the safety of the American people demand that we do what we can to prevent those attacks that are preventable."
"Here at home, we should not lose one more American life because politicians don't have the nerve or the will to do what's necessary to secure the homeland. Our safety is their primary responsibility."
