Putin: Trump Was Right; With Trump President 'There Would Be No War'

Talks in Alaska between Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Donald Trump went 'remarkably' well, Russian special envoy Kirill Dmitriev said on Russian state television. Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov reportedly says mood is 'great.' [Full Story]

President Donald Trump and Russia's Vladimir Putin met for about 2 1/2 half hours on Friday at a summit in Alaska that started with a handshake, a smile, and a ride in the presidential limousine — an unusually warm reception for a U.S. adversary responsible for launching the largest land war in Europe since 1945. 

The meeting between Trump and Putin ended at 6:20 p.m. ET and a news conference will be coming within the hour. 

Talks went "remarkably" well, Russian special envoy Kirill Dmitriev said on Russian state television, according to Reuters. 

Russian Defense Minister Belousov says mood is "great" following meeting between Trump and Putin. 

They planned to hold a joint news conference after talking together with top advisers behind closed doors on efforts to end Russia's war in Ukraine.
