McLaughlin: US Voters Strongly Support Trump, GOP

Charging out of the starting-gate, President Donald J. Trump and his Republican supporters are making a start to solve the critical formerly intractable problems that the Biden Harris Democrats left for Americans.
In doing so, President Trump is charting a stronger and more popular level of public opinion support than he ever had in his first term.
Our latest national poll of 1,000 likely voters (+/-3.1% at the 95% confidence interval), was modeled after the November election turnout and completed between Jan. 22 and Jan. 27.
Compared to our most recent December 2024 national poll, voter optimism is moving towards the right direction by a net 16 points.
Back in December, 66% of all voters said the country was on the wrong track and only 24% said right direction. Now it’s 32% right direction and wrong track dropped to 58%.
Republicans are leading the way saying that the country is on the right track 55% to 40%.
Similarly, the percentage of voters who think the economy is in recession dropped to 39%.
That’s the lowest level since before COVID-19 in February 2020.
