Amazon delivers lawsuit to 10,000 Facebook groups over fake reviews

Amazon is suing the administrators of over 10,000 Facebook groups that organize giving fake reviews to products sold on the site, the online retailer announced Tuesday.

These group administrators recruit people to give false reviews for products, such as car stereos and camera tripods, in exchange for money or free products, Amazon said in a press release. Amazon prohibits giving fake reviews to its products and claims it will use information discovered in this lawsuit to identify "bad actors" and remove fake reviews given by the users, the statement adds.

"Groups that solicit or encourage fake reviews violate our policies and are removed," a Meta spokesperson told the Washington Examiner. "We are working with Amazon on this matter and will continue to partner across the industry to address spam and fake reviews.”
