Minneapolis voted to get rid of the police, and now it wonders why no one is protecting the city

It looks like those "community-based public safety programs" aren't all they're cracked up to be.
Minneapolis residents are finding out, after their city council voted to disband the city's police department, that when push comes to shove, there's no one there to save them.
"Residents are asking, ‘Where are the police?'” Councilman Jamal Osman said during a session on Tuesday. “That is the only public safety option they have at the moment. MPD. They rely on MPD. And they are saying they are nowhere to be seen."
Minneapolis, like other big cities, has been racked by violence, looting, and vandalism since the George Floyd incident. From Minnesota Public Radio:
