WASHINGTON—The U.S. on Friday placed sanctions on several Taiwanese- and Hong Kong-based firms and associated individuals for allegedly covertly shipping fuel to North Korea in violation of United Nations sanctions.
The Trump administration said the shipments are undermining the international pressure campaign designed to strong arm Pyongyang into abandoning its nuclear weapons program.
