Bushfire crisis: 'Superblaze' fears in Vic; ‘too late to leave’ in NSW

FIRES across two states have claimed at least 45 homes and a school as crews rallied. One town has probably been destroyed.

VICTORIANS ran for their lives as the biggest fires of the season destroyed at least 10 homes and left livestock dead across the state’s southwest.

Fires continue to burn this morning after raging from Saturday afternoon, with the worst hit areas around Camperdown, Cobden, Timboon and Terang.

In all, the fires have destroyed 40,000ha and hundreds of people were evacuated, the Herald Sun reported.

Meanwhile, up to 35 homes and a school are thoughts to have been lost in a devastating bushfire that enveloped the NSW south-coast town of Tathra.
