GOP senators explore Chinese company’s $1 million payment to Hunter Biden’s firms

Sens. Charles E. Grassley and Ron Johnson on Tuesday presented more bank records that show President Biden’s son Hunter Biden received millions of dollars from companies connected to the communist Chinese regime as recently as 2017.
The transactions, uncovered in an investigation by the two senators, raise concerns about influence peddling by the Biden family and the potential for compromising the administration’s policies toward Beijing.
“Our challenge is that the deep state does not give up its secrets easily. New evidence of Biden family influence peddling is surfacing on a regular basis – often coming from records from Hunter Biden’s laptop,” said Mr. Johnson, a Wisconsin Republican and member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., told Newsmax on Tuesday that there is a “great deal of evidence” that President Biden is a “national security risk” following comments he made over the weekend suggesting Russian President Vladimir Putin should be ousted from office.
“For God’s sake, this man [Putin] cannot remain in power,” Biden said on Saturday while speaking outside the Royal Castle in Warsaw, Poland, according to CNN.
Paul condemned the comments and questioned Biden’s fitness for the office during his appearance on “The Chris Salcedo Show.”

“We have a president who is now saying things that are alarming, that are untrue, but also provocative,” Paul said. “Sending the message to Russia that we’re for regime change could escalate the war could - an irrational opponent could respond - and all of a sudden things could be out of control.”

Rep. Beth Van Duyne, R-Texas, questioned on Newsmax the assumption President Joe Biden is leading in the executive role of the United States.
Appearing on "Prime News," Van Duyne asks, "can you imagine ... [being the] head of a foreign nation and working with this administration, where you've got the president that says one thing — is completely indecisive — and then you've got members of his Cabinet, members of his [communications] team going back and cleaning up?"
"Who is in charge?" Van Duyne continued. "Who is actually making these decisions? Because you've ... got the president saying one thing. You've got Cabinet members saying something else."

It's no secret at this point that President Biden isn't great at facing reporters, nor is it a secret that his staff does everything they can to try and limit their boss' exposure to questions. Normally, White House reporters only get Biden's back as he walks out of the room following remarks without responding to shouted questions, but every now and then he decides to face the music. Whenever he does, things seem to go off the rails no matter how hard his staff — or whoever is running the show — may try to avoid it.
Thanks to a photo snapped during Monday's event at the White House where President Biden made remarks on his budget for the next fiscal year, we have a better idea of how the White House prepares Biden for questions — preparation that again was all for naught as Biden failed to stick to his one-sentence talking point he clutched in his hand.

The 2020 election will be forever tainted in controversy. The 2016 election will be forever soaked in mayhem. Democrats will always believe in the Russian collusion myth. Republicans will always feel that the 2020 election irregularities point to voter fraud, a steal if you will. The latter is more grounded, though marinated in nuance. Was it a stolen election a la Putin’s Russia or a banana republic? No. The ‘stolen’ portion solely centers on secretaries of state illegally altering the voting methods for the 2020 cycle without the approval of their state legislatures. Michigan and Pennsylvania—looking at you two especially. There’s a reason why a vote to alter the voting process never happened. The secretaries of state here are Democrats. The state legislatures in these respective states are Republican. Need I say more. I mean, as we know—it’s not hard to pull some funny business with mail-in ballots.

OPINION:
President Biden’s trip to Europe aimed to soothe NATO allies in the face of Russia’s war in Ukraine; instead, he blurted out several dangerous statements that his administration scrambled to throw down the memory hole. But just as deleting an offensive tweet doesn’t undo the damage, the White House can’t spin its way out of this. To avoid blustering us into nuclear war, Mr. Biden has to start acting like a president, and not a candidate.
The fixings at Mr. Biden’s Word Salad Bar revealed a troubling thread under the sneeze guard: his unsettling obsession with former President Donald Trump. Like a bizarre version of the Kevin Bacon game, he manages to connect any topic through to his predecessor.
It’s particularly self-defeating to let Mr. Trump live rent-free in your head since he thrives on the spotlight. As Alice Roosevelt Longworth said of her father, Theodore, the 46th president wants “to be the corpse at every funeral, the bride at every wedding and the baby at every christening.”

Illegal immigrant population soars to 11.4 million

The number of illegal immigrants in the U.S. soared by more than 1 million last year, reaching 11.4 million as of this January, according to new research released Tuesday that puts new contours on the border chaos under President Biden.
The surge is the largest in two decades and is among the largest single-year increases in U.S. history, said Steven A. Camarota of the Center for Immigration Studies, the lead researcher who wrote the paper.
He used Census Bureau numbers to calculate the trajectory of the unauthorized population, figuring there were about 11.5 million in January 2019, that figure plummeted to 10.2 million by the start of 2021, then soared to 11.4 million at the start of this year.

OPINION:
I read a front-page report last week in the Good Times about the recent doings of former President Donald Trump. It got me to thinking about when I first met him. The Good Times, incidentally, is also known as The Washington Times, which prints all the news that is fit to print, in a timely fashion, leaving nothing out, having its stories fact-checked by nonalcoholics and including a happy ending if warranted. The Good Times is often antithetical to The New York Times, but I assume you know that.
As I say, the piece in the Good Times got me to thinking about when I first met Mr. Trump in 2013. It was at our annual Washington Club Gala. He was there to receive the T. Boone Pickens Award for Entrepreneurship. I and many of the attendees that night were astonished by how gregarious Mr. Trump was, his natural charm and sense of humor and his enormous energy — a trait all great politicians have, but at the time Mr. Trump was no politician — and something more. When he got up to accept his award, he spoke briefly but on matters that resonated with our conservative audience. One thing more, he stayed the entire evening. I was informed that he had another engagement later in the evening, but for us he stayed the course. He obviously enjoyed the company that evening, but upon reflection, I think something else attracted his attention.

Former President Donald Trump brought up Hunter Biden during an interview with Just the News on Tuesday, saying Russian President Vladimir Putin should release any information he has on Biden's business dealings with Eastern European oligarchs.
In an interview with Just the News' "Real America's Voice," Trump said a 2020 Senate report revealed Yelena Baturina, the wife of Moscow's mayor at the time, gave $3.5 million a decade ago to a company co-founded by President Joe Biden's son.
"She gave him $3.5 million, so now I would think Putin would know the answer to that," the former president said at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. "I think he should release it. I think we should know that answer."

Trump said he tried to call attention to Hunter Biden's coziness with oligarchs during the 2020 election, but former Fox News anchor Chris Wallace shut him down.
"How is it that the mayor of Moscow, his wife gave the Biden family $3.5 million?" Trump said. "I think Putin now would be willing to probably give that answer. I'm sure he knows."

This has been going on since his confirmation hearings in 1991, when President George H.W. Bush had the temerity to nominate a Black conservative to take the U.S. Supreme Court seat of Thurgood Marshall.
Thomas' confirmation hearings provided a laboratory showing how low liberals are willing to go to try to discredit a conservative, even more so one who is Black.
