Ex-Prosecutor: Hunter Would Be Indicted If He Were 'Anybody Else'

Brett Tolman, the former U.S. attorney for the district of Utah, told "Fox & Friends" on Friday that Hunter Biden probably would have been indicted before the 2020 presidential election if he were "anybody else."
"Anybody else in this country, we would have seen these indictments probably before the election," Tolman claimed to Fox News host Todd Piro. "Can you imagine if the contents of this laptop applied to, say, Donald Trump Jr. or somebody else that's on the political right as opposed to where Hunter Biden was positioned at the time?"
Tolman further claimed that emails obtained by the Justice Department from Hunter Biden's laptop and the 2020 testimony of Tony Bobulinski, his former business associate, were enough to justify "search warrants" and "criminal charges."

On the precipice of the regime-defining 2020 presidential election, Facebook and Twitter committed their "Pearl Harbor attack" against the incumbent president, Donald Trump, and in dutiful favor of the regnant regime's favored candidate, Joe Biden.
In an October move that would presage the collapse of the "public"-"private" distinction during the Biden presidency -- as seen in press secretary Jen Psaki's open bragging last summer of collusion with Mark Zuckerberg to censor COVID "misinformation," and Eric Schmidt's recently revealed role helping shape administration science policy -- Big Tech oligarchs dropped the hammer on the New York Post, a high-circulation newspaper, for its reporting on Hunter Biden's now-infamous "laptop from hell." The laptop's files demonstrated the notoriously troubled Hunter's venality, abuses of power and general sketchiness of his foreign dealings. He and some of his cronies remain under federal investigation for possible tax and money laundering violations.
In response to the Post's reportage, Twitter locked the paper out of its own account for over two weeks. Both Facebook and Twitter, moreover, heavily limited or outright-blocked disseminating the Post's URL for the laptop story. Crucially, the entirety of this sordid affair transpired less than a month away from a momentous Election Day. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Missouri) correctly demanded that the Federal Election Commission investigate whether Facebook and Twitter illegally issued in-kind contributions to the Biden campaign; he was rebuffed.

As Townhall has covered, several House Democrats have announced they will not be seeking reelection in the midterm elections this year. Some are Rep. Jackie Speier (CA), Rep. Kathleen Rice (NY), Rep. Jim Cooper (TN), Rep. Jerry McNerney (CA), Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (TX) and Rep. Ted Deutch (FL). According to Ballotpedia, over 30 Democrat incumbents in the House are not seeking reelection this year. A new poll this week shows that Democrats' approval rating of Congress continues to simmer near its all-time low, as well as from the American public overall.

Over the course of the past two weeks, the Washington Post and The New York Times have finally admitted that a laptop abandoned by Hunter Biden is, in fact, real and that the details of his foreign dealings contained within it are problematic.

OPINION:
Joe Biden is an incompetent fool. When he was Vice President, officials in the Obama White House would excuse his comments by saying, “that’s just Joe.” As President of the United States, however, Mr. Biden’s gaffes have much larger consequences around the world.
Last Saturday, during a speech in front of the Royal Castle in Warsaw, Poland, Mr. Biden appeared to call for regime change in Russia when he said, “for God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power.” The White House quickly denied that he was calling for regime change. One administration official said,
“The President’s point was that Putin cannot be allowed to exercise power over his neighbors or the region. He was not discussing Putin’s power in Russia or regime change.” Actually, that is exactly what he said.
Secretary of State Anthony Blinken quickly moved to affirm that the United States has no plans for regime change in Moscow. The U.S. Ambassador to NATO, Julianne Smith, had to further the clean-up on Sunday by saying that “the U.S. does not have a policy of regime change in Russia, full stop.”

For decades, America has been involved in wars in Afghanistan and the Mideast.

Hunter Biden's laptop – and its contents that showed lurid, potentially illegal activities – was just as legitimate when reporting on it was suppressed in October 2020 as it was when The New York Times and The Washington Post deemed it verified last month, with one key difference: Hunter's father, Joe Biden, was already president and not in the stretch run of an election against Donald Trump.
The Times and Post last month suddenly reversed course in their categorization of the Hunter Biden laptop, separately reporting that both the computer and its contents are indeed authentic. Both newspapers have recently reported that emails they obtained more than a year ago did come from Hunter Biden's laptop and have been authenticated by people familiar with the contents or by independent expert sources.

If we're going to create transparently idiotic, partisan standards on the fly, they should be applied to everyone in government.
If Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has an ethical obligation to recuse himself from all cases related to the Jan. 6 riots because his wife Ginni has opinions on the matter, as most Democrats now contend, it's clear that the president has a moral responsibility to step back from any more decisions concerning Ukraine and China.
Now that the New York Times and Washington Post have both authenticated the Hunter Biden emails -- a story that was suppressed by the media and tech conglomerates on the flimsiest of pretexts to help Joe Biden win the 2020 election -- it's also what's right for democracy. That's how this works, right?

Just when you thought the Hunter Biden scandals had died in darkness, The Washington Post published more than 6,300 words on March 30 admitting that a notable fraction of his laptop contents was authentic.
Why now? Why not last year? Why did liberal outlets act like everyone expressing concern about Biden was a Trump-adoring kook? We reported at NewsBusters that the broadcast network morning and evening newscasts went 260 days without mentioning Biden. (And it was more like 11 months of silence at ABC.) These were the same networks that frantically obsessed over one brief and failed meeting Donald Trump Jr. hosted in Trump Tower in 2016 to discuss negative information on Hillary Clinton.
The one consistent thread in the liberal media's approach was the notion that all attempts to dig up negative information on Democrats during a campaign are a scandal. But all attempts to dig up negative information on Republicans during a campaign are always the best and the brightest journalism one could find.
